I found it hard to connect with this book. The plot and characters felt quite surface level, and lacked the depth I wanted. The premise was fun and there were exciting parts, but I felt it could have been improved with further editing.
The premise for this book was really interesting but the execution fell down a bit.
The author replies quite heavily on tell me rather than show me. The main character doesn't want to get close to others because she's afraid of being hurt but we mostly know that from her inner monologue telling us repeatedly.
The book is also somewhat repetitive with the main character throwing a fit and wondering off, the group almost gets caught until they manage to kill their captors, rinse and repeat.
Through all this I did enjoy the book so would probably rate it 3.5 stars but it was just slightly flawed.
