I absolutely devoured this book! It was dark and delicious and I cannot wait for the audiobook to release!
everything about this book was amazing! the characters, the plot, the spice 🤭cant wait read the next one
Thank you for this book!
Corrupt Shadows is DARK...in the best way! I took way too long to finish this book but I'm glad I finally did. I enjoyed this book so much! The world system, the mystery, magic system, the PLOT are incredible. The SPICE there are no words LOL! I'm just completely blown away!
Putting these two authors together for this book was genius! I was sucked in very fast just by the prologue! I could not stop reading. Evie has some dark kinks that made me gasp and laugh with worry. Having the MMC not only stalk Evie while trapped in the Shadow world, but show up in her DREAMS and do the things he did! Freaking hot as hell! Lorcan is obsessed with Evie that much is clear.
And let me just say that I love Evie's bat, A FREAKING BAT, Gomez is the cutest! Loved him and his little character. I now need a bat in my life haha.
There quite a bit of repeat information, but none of that stopped me from reading. It was frustrating at times but easy to just skim through and get back to the story itself.
All in all this was an amazing read for me!
Gimme more!!
The spice 🤌🤌🤌
The plot
The characters…
I need. More
I was hooked from the beginning
Gonna devour the next one.
'Corrupt Shadows' delves into the dark and tempestuous infatuation between Evie, a witch haunted by her past and her potent shadow magic, and Lorcan, a demon with an obsessive fixation, trapped for centuries in the Shadow Realm. As the last descendant of a powerful bloodline, Evie becomes Lorcan's target, not merely because it was her ancestors that trapped him or for her abilities but also for the undeniable allure of her dark side. As a dark moody gothic loving girl, this blended gothic romance and supernatural perfectly to create a seductive and eerie atmosphere. I'm also a huge fan of animal familiars in stories and Evie’s familiar, Gomez the fruit bat, was a delight that stole every scene he was in
If you're not into dark romance, this might not be for you. Evie and Lorcan have a very surface level attraction to each other, and it is incredibly dark what they do share. There is unaliving, as well as a spicy scene that revolves around it, but with a romance that comes from stalking and obsession, I was already in it. I was not in this for a deep plot, but for spicy and unhinged MMCs so I am here to see what the next books bring.
I am a huge fan of CM Hutton and Rebecca L Garcia. This series is for the dark romance girls that want someone that accepts their darkest cravings, and isn't afraid to get a little messy.
I read this book a while ago and had to take my time to think about what to write as a review. And then I forgot..
Maybe it has been too long ago by now, but I can say this:
It's dark, really dark. Though I like twisted and dark stories, this is the darkest story I think I have read.
I enjoyed reading it in general, but there were a few times that I would have looked away if it was a movie. Mostly the sex scenes. They were a bit too much out of my comfort zone.
At times the story was a bit repetitive regarding people hating people, but it wasn't that bothersome. It was entertaining enough that I want to read the next book and see how it ends.
Spicy! The cliffhanger was unexpected and left me screaming. Evie a witch that I'd love to know. I love a good dark romance with explicit smut that also has an amazing plot. I cannot say too much without spoiling - I need the next installment, yesterday!!!!
thank you to netgalley for the advanced reading copy. I really enjoyed this and will be getting copies for my shop.
Corrupt Shadows in an interesting sci-fi romance with some darker elements that really fascinated me. It was gripping with interesting characters!
I think this one would have been much better if it would have only been from the Witches POV the Demon's POV felt very stilted and took me out of the story. His chapters I was dreading when they showed up as for my opinion they were not done very well. These dual POVs can be amazing but they have to be done well. I am not sure which author worked on which POV but whomever did the Demon's needed some help. The story at large was fairly well done but I think it still needed some major edits to make it better. As of right now this book stands as a mess that I ended up skimming the last half of it.
The witch and the demon both have shadow magic and the spiciness that ensues with that?! Oof, it was over the roof.
Omg I need the second book ASAP. The ending is such a cliffhanger. I loved Gomez hes such a cuddly little dude with attitude. This book had me like 😲😳🥵😍🔥😲😭🥵🔥😲😲😲
I think maybe I am not the targeted audience of this book. Corrupt Shadows is labeled as a dark romance, but it didn't really feel like a romance to me, it felt more like erotica. Dark erotica? Is that a thing? I definitely appreciate a book with spice, but this had primarily spice with very little plot. And I usually like more of a plot-to-spice balance. Despite that, I still was having a good time, and was onboard for reading a spicy book! What I can't get behind is non-consensual sex. And there were several non-consensual scenes. I don't understand why it is necessary to include and puts out a really terrible message that not having consent is ok. But Lorcan still had his redeeming qualities. I like an alpha male MMC, with an "you are mine" attitude, and Lorcan totally fits the bill. He's scary and menacing, but also has a sweet side. Gomez, Evie's little familiar, had my heart, and her friend Rosa was also a really lovable side character. Just the consent. Yes=go, no=stop. It's that easy. I think if that was changed this would have been a more enjoyable book for me, but it was something I couldn't get past. Thank you to NetGalley for the e-arc in exchange for an honest review!
Thanks @netgalley for the chance to review Corrupt Shadows by Rebecca L. Garcia and CM Hutton. First: read the trigger warnings! Lorcan the demon must find Evie, the last Fallenmore witch to break free from his prison. It was interesting and fast-paced, but quite gory. There were multiple spelling errors, and it seemed at times that the authors were just trying to throw in all the kinks. Almost DNFd for blood play, just not my thing.
This was pretty good but I had a hard time getting though it, I felt like it didn’t keep my attention.

Lovers of shadow daddies - this one’s for you 🖤
Corrupt shadows is a dark gothic romance, with a FMC who’s a witch that’s been running from her past, and a MMC who’s a demon thats been stuck where he is because of his past.
It’s been a hot minute since I last read a book with this much smut and oh boy was it good. *chefs kiss*. (Please be sure to check your trigger warnings first because things get pretty dark in this book)
Aside from the smut, the story line is interesting and that’s what initially caught my interest. Evie has been on the run for 9 years after she killed her brother. Eventually a masked demon begins to stalk her through mirrors and he becomes obsessed with wanting her to use her shadows. As the story unravels you learn more about Evie and why she’s scared to use her powers.
I’m so excited to continue this story and I hope the next book touches more about ‘the demon’
ALSO, why’d you have to end it like that ?!
Thank you so much NetGalley, CM Hutton & Rebecca L Garcia for the ARC!

Overall I really liked the story, it was fast paced, unique, and very spicy. There are some cringey moments, but this series has potential and I am definitely interested in reading the next book.
This is a dark romance - be sure to check the TW!
Thank you to NetGalley, Rebecca L. Garcia & CM Hutton for providing the ARC - my opinions are my own.
I want to thank Netgalley and the author for this chance to review.
These red flags are breathtaking.
Absolutely loved this book, that cliffhanger ending had me soo mad.
Definitely took some time to fall in love with Lorcan but I am there and wanting more. I need him to get out of the shadow realm.
I would have loved more world building, 3.5 stars

Stalked by a demon, who watches her through the mirrors and uses his shadow magic to bring her pleasure and pain 🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵
Evie is the last of the fallenmore coven and is the masked demons only hope of escape from the shadow realm.
I literally couldn't get enough of this book. The smutt in this book was just top tier when the MMC says things like "CRAWL TO ME LITTLE WITCH" and uses the phrase STFUATTDLAGLW 🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵

Book Review 📚
Corrupt Shadows by Rebecca Garcia and CM Hutton - 5/5 ⭐
Oh. My. Life. I absolutely devoured this book! This book was made to appease my inner demon, I swear. It was absolutely perfect. That being said, PLEASE check the trigger warnings. It's very, very, dark!! Perfect for me, but not for some.
I don't think there wasn't a trope these authors didn't find and write about?! Literally every known dark trope you can think of is in this book, possibly even more then you know of! Honestly, you are going to be questioning your morals at the end of this one.
The only, and I mean ONLY flaw I found was now having to wait for book 2! I literally sobbed in a corner at the end knowing I now have to wait. I am now counting down the days and they need to go QUICKER!!
There's not enough stars in the world to give this book. It was exceptional and phenomenal and the writers really did an amazing job.
Thank you to NetGalley and Victory Editing for allowing me to read this ARC - this is an HONEST review from my own personal opinion.
