This was a fun and fast paced story with many new situations for me. I enjoyed the development of the characters and their connection. The setting and basis of their relationship was explained well for someone that hasn’t been part of that lifestyle. The relationship was well developed and shared how the trust was built for the sexual relationship to be safe. Spicy!

BDSM, Real Life issues, and insta-love ❤️ Light Spicy Quick Read

- Third Person POV
- Relatable life issues
- BDSM Club
- Spice (5/5 🌶️)

Amara is struggling to re- find herself after giving up her life to take care of her post-stroke.

Sullivan hasn't taken a sub for more than a weekend since his ex destroyed him. He doesn't understand where it is about this one but he actually wants to keep her.

In a whole the spice was great, the after care was better, little plot, but what was there was decent.

I really enjoyed this book. The plot and character development were great, even for characters on the periphery like family and friends. I think there was a tendency to gloss over the complexities of a relationships where the two parties have complex mental/emotional issues, but were expecting the MC's to NOT have a HEA??! Otherwise, the spicy scenes were almost as 🥵 as the descriptions of kindness and adoration in aftercare scenes. Being my first BDSM book, ngl, I found myself googling some terms, but overall it was a great book. Would definitely read again.

A hot and erotic book, as you would expect from its description. But it is so much more.
You really have to Read it to understand how it pulls you in emotionally, how much you invest in the characters and their lives. A brilliant read.

I really enjoyed this book, a sweet romance between the two main characters with a dose of bdsm thrown in. I thought the subject of caring for a family member was sensitively handled and well written too. The only thing i wasn't sold on is how Amara discussed her sex life and going to a sex club in such detail with her mum and brother!

This book was fun for those who like BDSM type books or books that take place in a sex club. It kept my attention and I really liked our main characters. It's one I enjoyed reading and I wouldn't mind owning a digital copy of but I don't know that I'd buy a physical copy (If that makes sense).

Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and author of the ARC, in exchange for my honest review.

The story follows Amara and Sullivan as they attempt a relationship while navigating complicated and difficult family situations. Amara is working on getting her life back together, after putting her needs on hold and dedicating her time to caring for her mother. Similarly, Sullivan is coping with his own mother’s illness, and his own depression. Both are getting by in life, not really living it. But a chance meeting a BDSM club has them exploring the possibilities of a relationship. The story is truly about accepting that you deserve happiness even when you aren’t at your best, or that your life is not where you thought it should be. The title of the book sums it up perfectly when your life is “somewhere in between”.

My thoughts: This is a great and accurate BDSM club read. The scenes are super sexy, kinky, and steamy. Sullivan’s aftercare was so sweet and caring. It’s what made me love Sullivan!
Amara was a relatable heroine, with flaws and insecurities. I loved the realistic portrayal of her relationship with her body, as she got older and with the demands of life she found herself having gained weight. I think all women can relate, and it was refreshing to see this portrayal in a novel. Add to that all the demands on her from her family, and she sees herself as unworthy of indulging in any serious relationship.
Also, kudos that Amara is bisexual but it's not a huge crisis or plot point. It's simply accepted.

Things I struggled with: I find Sullivan a little boring, especially in comparison to Amara who was such a likable character.
The dialogue between Sullivan and Amara was awkward and felt shallow. I found the dialogue throughout, i.e. Amara and her friends, or family, to be unrealistic and stilted.
This is simply my preference, but the book is in the third person which is not my favourite. I much prefer the first person to really get into the character’s headspace.

I would recommend this book to anyone wanting a kinky, sexy BDSM read. Specifically anyone interested in the BDSM club, community, and lifestyle. This is not a plot-heavy read, with little to no angst or drama. Simply put, it’s a good smut read that will leave you hot and bothered.

Tough family situation. Very hot BDSM scenes. It started first as just sex and grew into something more meaningful. Not for everyone taste.
I voluntarily review this book.

I only powered through this book because of Sullivan and Amara relationship. Who talks about BDSM with their siblings and parents? Who goes to a BDSM club with their brother present? Take a drink every time “thunder thighs” is said. Idk the book was a bit too much and Amara is way too old to be speaking about her body the way she does.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an arc of this book.
This is the first I’ve read by this author and enjoyed it.
The story of Amara and Sullivan both struggling with difficult family situations find solace in each other through a D/s relationship. What starts as purely sexual soon leads to something deeper as they help each other overcome mental health issues, self esteem and body image.
The kink scenes in this book are pretty hot and I learnt more about the BDSM lifestyle and dynamic.
While I enjoyed this, I found their personal struggles quite intense and would have liked some lighter scenes between the characters too.

Emotional and super steamy visit to the world of BDSM and private clubs. Tough and stressful family situation, and gotta say the family can't stop being selfish, which was a bit off putting and triggering. Overall a hot read.

THOUGHTS:

I want to thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for giving me the opportunity to read an e-arc in exchange for my honest review.

I love a good spicy k!nky book and this book hit the spot. I love how you are sucked right into the world of BDSM and follow the relationship between Amara and Sullivan. I loved these two. This book was a great weekend read for me and I didn’t want to set it down. I had never read anything by this author before and I thoroughly enjoyed their writing. She tackles some harder topics and does them flawlessly. Perfection! I will watch for more work from them down the road. I WILL SAY I am anxious for a book 2. Bring it on!

I loved the realness of this book. It was deep and raw, but also sexy and electric. Sullivan was an amazing character and I’m obsessed!! While I did like Amara her body image issues felt a little overdone and was mentioned almost too much. But overall I really enjoyed this book.

This was really beautiful. Don’t get me wrong, it was sexy as sin, erotic and there was romance bubbling along the whole time, and on top of that it told a lovely tale. Commitment, and family and hurt were all central to the development and added to the sexy time. A sensitive book with fab sex.
