First of all I want to say is Thank you to NetGalley and Inkubator Books for selecting me to read an arc of The Better Mother by Emily Shiner. I did feel like the story went on a
Way too long and slow but then picked up and had a twisted ending. The author also done a lot of repeating which really annoyed me and pulled it down to 3 stars. It did however keep my attention and had me to where I had to read the ending, which brought it back up to 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐s

Thank you to Netgalley for the DRC of this book. Ethan, Zoe and Anna are a nice family of three. One day Micah shows up and said he is the din of Ethan was a previous relationship. They take him in and treat him like part if the family. They try finding his mother who is a drug addict.
I found this book to be very repetitive and full of too much details.
I didn’t understand the end of the book at all.
I tore through this book really quickly, but as much fun as it was, I’d figured out the twist early on. That being said, it was compulsively readable! Also, this epilogue was definitely the perfect way to end this dark novel. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC!
I love a good domestic thriller and this one didn't disappoint! Kept me on my toes so much that I finished in one sitting. Fans of the genre will enjoy!
Too good to be true? This is the question which is asked and answered as the protagonist finds her seemingly perfect life coming to pieces. I enjoyed the exploration of the core mystery and found the writing style lent itself to reading quickly, which I wanted to do as was so keen to know what was going to happen!
Just finished reading this book, I was hooked on this from the description.
This was my first Emily Shiner book but I can be certain it won’t be my last.
The sat here a few times thinking about how this was going to end, I was partially right, but there was a big ole surprise in there that I didn’t expect.
I would highly recommend giving this book a read if you like a good psychological thriller, you won’t be able to put it down!
The ending? THE ENDING! This is my favorite type of psychological thriller. The unease, the mystery, the building tension-- the ending that was just as satisfying as the buildup! I read this book in one sitting-- about three hours, which is unusual for me. I. Could. Not. Stop. This is my second book by Emily, and she has won me over as a lifelong fan. I am absolutely going to dive into her backlist headfirst this fall.
It's been a few hours since I finished and I cannot stop thinking about the epilogue! This story will stick with me for a long time to come.
The Better Mother by new to me author E. Shiner, published by Inkubator Books, is a gripping thriller that had me on the edge of my seat right from the start.
Zoe believes she has everything she ever dreamed of, a loving doctor husband, an adorable daughter, the perfect picket fence life. That's about to change when a teenager shows up on their doorstep saying he's Ethan's son. In the blink of an eye everything changes dramatically. And the end, lets just say goosebumps have nothing on what this story did to my peace of mind.
A fantastic read, 4,5 stars.
Great read which i devoured in a couple of sittings. Interesting storyline, not to many characters to get your head around and all well written. I did guess the wow moment but nevertheless an enjoyable read.
My thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my copy.
Emily Shiner does it again. Left me hanging on the edge the whole book with suspense and misery trying to figure out how it was going to end. This book really brings home that you can not judge a book/person by its cover. highly recommend.
I read this book in one sitting. I hadn't met this author before, but enjoyed the suspense of the story especially the unexpected twists at the end.
Somehow every book that Emily Shiner writes is better than the last. I received a copy of "The Better Mother" less than 24 hours ago and have already finished it. I absolutely loved it!! I love the way the book kept my attention and that I was completely shocked by the ending. The characters were mysterious and well-developed, and I love that the plot was original. I will be telling everyone to download this book!
Thank you, NetGalley and Inkubator Books for the copy of The Better Mother by Emily Shiner. Like many other thrillers lately, more emphasis was on a shock ending than in character development or plot elements. Micah’s POV narrative didn’t sound like a 13 year-old boy at all, but it was impossible to distinguish it from Zoe’s POV. It also didn’t make sense how quickly Zoe changed her opinion of Micah and how impossible it was to hide it from him, or why they didn’t get him a therapist right away. This was an enjoyable, suspenseful book anyway as long as you ignore the things that don’t ring true. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4.
This was an easy read as the book drew me and kept my attention until the end of the book! Definitely recommend it.
The arrival of a long lost son changes everything. How are far would you go to protect your family?
I read this book in a single night! Wow! This is the first book I’ve read by this author and let me say I’m looking forward to reading more!
#TheBetterMother #NetGalley is a great thriller with all the right ingredients to keep you reading until the end. I had no idea what the truth was, and I was stunned when it all came out.
This is a great book and I'm happy to recommend it to other readers.
Thank you to NetGalley for selecting me to read an advanced copy of the book.
