Honestly, it's difficult for me to read self-help books and I don't really enjoy being told what to do in my religion. However, Father Jim Sichko did a good job in making it so this novel is more guidance than 'you have to do this'. The novel was more like getting a pep talk in the locker room before a game, and makes you want to take the next steps to further your relationship with the Lord.

This isn’t really a book one can review properly due to the nature of what the subject is in my opinion. It’s a book with weekly challenges to help develop daily habits

5/5 stars

In the hustle and bustle of our days, it can be challenging to find time to devote to our Lord.

Enter Father Jim Sichko, who has a knack for revealing important truths in an incisive, succinct way.

His upcoming book, 60 Seconds for Jesus: One Minute a Day Can Change Your Life, is a carefully-polished gem. Through his pithy reflections, Fr. Sichko gets quickly to the heart of the matter and, in this way, brings the reader closer to Christ.

60 Seconds for Jesus is ultimately uplifting and filled with hope. As the author notes:

"...it's about finding the Divine in the details, the holy in the humdrum of our daily routines. It's about realizing that every gentle word spoken, every moment of compassion, and every act of love are testaments to the Gospel's living power."

The book is thoroughly delightful and tailor-made for today's busy lives. Fr. Sichko's bite-sized wisdom is indeed nourishing for our souls.

The challenges are solid and helpful, though I wasn't particularly a fan of the writing style. It seemed like it was trying to connect with a younger audience without actually connecting with them.

That being said, the challenges within would be simple but stretching, and would help set someone on a trajectory of growing in their Christian faith.

A copy of 60 Seconds for Jesus has been sent to me by Loyola Press and Netgalley for review:

The 60 Seconds for Jesus devotional series deals with the possibility of changing one's life in one minute a day.

I found the book to be a quick and easy read, but I felt it lacked something spiritually, not that it was bad, but it wasn't great either. As a result, I give 60 Seconds for Jesus four stars!

Happy Reading!

I loved the weekly challenges, but wish the daily readings had a bit more depth. There were some that really spoke to me and some that seemed like cliches. Maybe a bible verse for each day would have been better. However, I think the weekly challenges are worth while and plan to read them weekly and implement them over the coming year.

I think this would be a good book for someone who is new to the faith or new to practicing their faith.

A book of weekly challenges that help readers develop a daily habit that brings Jesus into their lives through quotes, Scripture passages, and doable challenges.

I really enjoyed this book, I appreciated the practical aspect of only needing 60 seconds to develop and nurture your relationship with God.

The daily encouragement was like a pep talk for my soul, short and to the point, and I found it changed my daily mindset.

Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this book in return for my honest review.

Uplifting and approachable, I loved this book. For the sake of reviewing it in a timely manner, I read it in a few sittings but it is a lovely daily devotional.

It has a nice mix of scripture, allegory and teaching and I highly recommend it.

Thank you to the publisher for gifting me a copy. It was my pleasure to write an honest review.

I stopped reading after the first three weeks and instead went and pre-ordered the book. I want to save the remainder for discovery next year. My only "complaint" is that the book is releasing after the Christmas season which is a wasted opportunity to share this fantastic book with loved ones so that they too can start their new year off on the right foot.

Plenty of bite-sized reflections and action points on how to be happy, fulfilled, and centered on Christ. The passages can be read in one go or can be a devotional to provide inspiration everyday. Writing style is accessible and straightforward.
