Christian O'Brady has a few secrets swirling in his past. He works hard at his job as a private investigator and alarm system specialist to insure a brighter future. When he gets called out to the break-ins at two prestigious art galleries where he installed the alarm systems, he knows something is up.
Andi Forster was an FBI forensic analyst before losing her career and is now an insurance fraud investigator. Assigned to the art thefts she and Christian work together to frantically catch the criminals involved before another theft takes place. They are plunged into something much more sinister taking place.
I received my copy of this book from Bethany House Publishers through NetGalley and this is my opinion of it. There are actually two mysteries going on, which makes it very interesting. I like the characters and the addition of Christian's family members who also work in the investigation agency. Andi's best friend and former FBI colleague, Harper Grace, and Christian's brother Deckard MacLeod have integral parts in the story. The book certainly focuses on faith, justice and family. This first book in the Jeopardy Falls series has opened with a solid start mixing intrigue, danger and romance.

Andi has finally begun to restart her life, after being framed (as she believes) in her former job working for the FBI she has started a new job in a new location and is assigned to work an art theft. Paired with local Christian, Anti finds herself back in a world she thought she moved on from and on top of that she has been thrown into a game with the thieves with her and Christian's lives at risk.
Book 1 in the Jeopardy Falls series did not disappoint, I was invested in the story and characters and am so excited to see what the next book in the series will be bringing us. I've always been a huge Pettrey fan and I am excited to continue to read her series.
I received this book complimentary from the publisher in an exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I enjoyed reading One Wrong Move, and I read it quickly (despite struggling with migraine symptoms) because I was hooked into the story and didn’t want to stop reading.
Andi is an insurance investigator who has the job of investigating an art galley heist in Jeopardy Falls, New Mexico. She previously worked for the FBI as a forensic analyst of crime scene evidence. Andi lost her FBI career when she was unfairly set up to take the fall for botched DNA evidence in a crime scene investigation. Andi knows she’s innocent and didn’t make a mistake, but she can’t prove it.
Christian had a rough upbringing with parents who were neglectful and con-artist criminals. The lack of parental guidance led Christian on his own criminal path to juvenile detention where he met Jesus and started turning his life around. Christian is a security expert who designs security systems, and the Jeopardy Falls art gallery is one of the properties he secured. He knows that the thieves are either experts at cracking sophisticated security systems, or there was insider involvement in the heist.
Andi and Christian’s romance was sweet and included many obstacles to overcome as they challenged each other to deal with past emotional baggage. I loved meeting Christian’s siblings and visiting their New Mexico ranch. I appreciated how Harper, Andi’s best friend from her FBI days, was loyal to Andi and prepared to take risks in seeking justice. I recommend One Wrong Move to romantic suspense readers who like action packed suspense with high stakes mixed with a compelling romance and a relevant faith element in the story.
Many thanks to Bethany House and NetGalley for the advanced reader copy.

Christian O’Brady and his brother and sister were born into a life of parents who were con artists. It is now many years later and Christian is a private investigator and security expert. His client and owner of antique galleries has been robbed of priceless and irreplaceable artefacts. Could it be a coincidence that both galleries were targeted? Seems unlikely. Should the security system creator be suspect in these heists, getting past the security system he built? Christian finds himself working with Miranda Forester, aka Andi, who has proven herself a very talented insurance investigator representing the insurance company of one of the galleries hit. Andi also has a shaded and unresolved past back when she worked for the FBI. She claims the incident was a setup.
The two find themselves into a forced proximity, where an attraction begins to bloom.
This is Pettrey’s first installment in the Jeopardy Falls Series and it starts off with a bang! The mystery is captivating and keeps readers turning pages to find out what happens next.
Christian’s relationship with God was inspiring as was Andi who displayed resilience, honesty, courage, and professionalism.
Great writer and storyteller and I look forward to meeting the cast of characters in the next book.

What an exciting book. From beginning to end, nonstop action and suspense. I’m a huge fan of the author’s books and this is one of her best! I enjoyed the introduction of the new characters and look forward to more books about them. The New Mexico setting was unique and not often the setting of books. I liked that I get to learn about a new area as well. Art heists and action are at the heart of this book! Definitely recommend!

There are two cases being worked in this novel and the action alternates between them, sometimes within a chapter. There are also passages covering the villains. I found reading this novel required a little more concentration than usual to keep the three narratives straight. The two cases certainly meant there was double the action and suspense.
I really liked the characters. Andi and Christian are both strong people. Each has a past that must be overcome. I liked how the romance develops between the two. The subtle romance and work of Deckard and Harper provided additional action and suspense. I liked the initial animosity between Deckard and Andi and that Deckard was willing to re-investigate the case that ruined her career. There are several good supporting people too, characters for succeeding novels, I hope.
I have come to be quite taken with the entire MacLeod family and the ranch complex. I hope the other family members become main characters in future novels. There is a very strong Christian faith message included, making this novel a rewarding inspirational romantic suspense to enjoy.
I received a complimentary egalley of this book through Partners in Crime Book Tours. My comments are an independent and honest review.

Thanks to Netgalley for my review copy.
I watched an interview with Dani Pettrey about this book and it made me want to read it. There is something about Private detectives that interest me. In this book Andi is an insurance investigator and Christian is a private detective with skills in security. They meet at a crime scene and end up working the case together. The bad guys are playing with them leaving clues on Andi's car. We learn early on Andi was a former FBI agent working in the lab. From the blurb we know Christian was raised by con artists for parents but will take a while to learn his whole story. Other characters include Christian's brother Deckard and sister Riley, along with Andi's friend Harper plus a couple others. As well as the bad guys.
The action starts from the start and continues right through the book. We also have the romance happening as well. there are many twists and turns which kept me reading. This wasn't a light read but each day I ended wanting to read more but I also needed sleep. It is my first book by Dani Pettrey but it won't be my last. I normally don't read a lot of suspense mainly stick to Love Inspired Suspense but may now read more in this genre. I eagerly await the next book in this series to see what will happen next in this family of Detectives.
There is a strong faith thread throughout the book as well. I would love to say more but I don't give away spoilers.

I really enjoyed this book! Great plot, great pacing, great characters! I really have only good things to say about this story. The museum heist angle was something I hadn’t read previously which was nice to have a bit of a change from the usual! There were actually two cases to solve in this book and I was invested in each story line equally. I really enjoyed the all three characters and am so excited to read more from each of them as they get their own stories. The women in this story were strong, smart and capable! Also, they were all kind and easy to like. There were romance sparks flying between a few of these characters and I was a fan! There were moments of danger and suspense and the mystery threads kept me invested until the conclusion! I am super excited for this series after reading this book!

I have enjoyed novels by Dani Pettrey in the past and was excited to read One Wrong Move, but I quickly realized that this read was going to be a challenge for me.
The constant switch from narrator to narrator paired with the short chapters, gave me literary whiplash. There are two cases being worked simultaneously, plus the villain's perspectives are thrown into the mix from time to time. I was not able to read this novel in one sitting due to time restraints and hoping in and out made me more confused and continued to distance me from the narrative to the point that I debated finishing it altogether.
The characters are great but the constant switching between points of view was frustrating because I couldn’t keep all of the characters straight and prevented me from really connecting. It was too much happening at one time, and I found myself more frustrated than endeared.
The overall romance was sweet, even if it did feel rushed, especially at the beginning, but even this, along with the Christian themes, did not redeem it for me. I really wanted to love this novel, but it just wasn’t a winner.

Dani Pettry kicks off a captivating series in Jeopardy Falls, blending a compelling plot with dynamic characters and swift action. Christian O’Brady faces the challenge of tracking down thieves targeting priceless treasures despite his security measures. Andi Forester, the disgraced former FBI analyst turned insurance investigator, collaborates with Christian to unravel the mysteries behind these daring heists.
The interconnected storylines, involving Christian's brother Deckard and Andi's friend Harper, add depth to the narrative as they search for the truth regarding Andi’s disgrace.
The character dynamics and relentless action make this a gripping read, leaving readers eagerly anticipating the next chapter in Jeopardy Falls.

Dani Pettrey has written a fast paced new beginning to her Jeopardy Falls series! Since I pick up every book that Pettrey writes based off the fact that she is the author, I didn’t have a clue what I was about to read. Art heists, car and boat chases, and corruption on so many levels.
Rather than give us one story, Pettrey has given us two stories in one! The first surrounds Christian O’Brady, reformed art thief and Andi Forster, insurance investigator. As that pair works to sort out the men behind a series of art thefts, Christian’s brother Deckard and Andi’s best friend Harper work to clear Andi’s name after it had been sullied by Deckard.
While the two different mysteries do not overlap, each story is told simultaneously, keeping you in the action longer and wondering what was going to happen next in each story. I cannot wait to read the next installment in this series!

One Wrong Move by Dani Pettrey did not disappoint. Dani has been one of my favorite authors ever since I met her at a book conference almost 10 years ago. And One Wrong Move is just another reason she is a must read author. We have the main story line of the art heists that Christian and Andi are working. We have a secondary story of did Andi get framed while working in the FBI. And Christian’s brother, Deckard’s involvement in her work problem. Dani is such a talented author that you don't feel cheated by having two storylines going at once. You feel like you got a bonus story.
The series is going to revolve around Christian and his siblings. They are a very unique and talented group and a lot of that is based on their childhood. I am anxiously awaiting the next stories in the series. Definitely a must read.

Sit down, buckle up and hold on. From the very first sentence in One Wrong Move we hit the ground running with mischief and murder. Andi Forrester and Christian O'Brady are tasked with figuring out who is robbing art galleries and leaving riddles behind for them. Andi was once forensic tech for the FBI until a case where Christian's brother Deckard was asked to investigate what was assumed to be a wrongful conviction. Deckard pairs up with Andi's best friend, Harper, to figure out if there really was a set up causing Andi to be let go. While these two investigations run side by side we see twists and turns that will leave you on the edge of your seat. With the help of Riley, Christian and Deckard' sister, and Greyson they work to not only survive but to solve these cases. What a fast paced adventure that has themes of redemption and second chances woven throughout.
**Thank you to Netgalley and Baker Publishing Group for the advanced copy of this book. The opinions in this review are mine.

One Wrong Move by Dani Pettrey is a suspense romance novel which is the beginning of a new series.
Andi Forester and Christian O'Brady are investigating a series of art heists. Which may put them in the crosshairs of a killer.
There are two mysteries, but it isn't hard to keep track of the progress. There are several side characters which keep this story action packed. Dani Pettrey has a way of writing suspense that keeps you guessing right to the end, This is a clean romantic suspense novel with a faith element.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary advanced e-copy of this book. All views expressed are my honest opinion.

A gallery heist immediately puts PI Christian and Insurance Investigator Andi on the chase. With some of their pasts both rearing heads, it's anyone's guess who and why. With the help of a couple of friends and siblings, Christian and Andi get the leads they need to entrap the criminals.
I was convinced to read this 9not having read Dani previously) by a couple of friends who swore by Dani's writing. I've enjoyed suspenseful romance in the past so it didn't take much prodding. What I found was fantastic suspenseful scenes where I felt the adrenaline and energy of the characters and a somewhat underdeveloped romance. I think anyone going in for the suspense will be a happy reader. I expected a more even split between the two. I liked it a lot but will know for future reading of this author to expect the romance to be on the backburner.
Thank you to Bethany House for the gifted copy. All thoughts are my own.

One Wrong Move was a great reminder as to why I love Dani Pettrey’s writing so much. Her characters feel like real people. More than that, they feel like family and I find myself truly caring about what happens to them. Her stories are the perfect blend of action, suspense, and a sense of adventure with swoony romance and authentic faith. In One Wrong Move, I loved meeting the entire MacLeod Investigations and Security team and watching Christian and Andi’s story unfold, and I truly cannot wait to read the next books in the series. Dani Pettrey is the best, and if you’ve never picked up one of her books, you should definitely try this one!🧡
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A big thank you to Dani Pettrey and Bethany House Fiction for sending me a copy of this book! All thoughts and opinions above are my own.📙

I loved all the action and suspense in this story. I could not get enough of Christian, Andi, Harper and Deckard. I enjoyed that there were two different stories. I loved the romance as these couples get to really know one another as they work together. I could not put down this book. I received a copy of the book from the publisher for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

I enjoyed reading One Wrong Move. It took me a little while to get into the story due to the large number of characters introduced in the first few chapters. There were four characters whose name started with a C by the time that I reached 11%. I realize that many readers have no problems keeping names and relationships straight, but I'm not one of them. I am very glad that I kept reading! Author Dani Pettrey kept the levels of suspense and mystery high which in turn kept my interest level very high. The story has three different couples with the possibility of romances developing. The author sets the very different scenes well without slowing down the pace of the book. Dani Pettrey seems especially gifted at this. I was easily able to picture the people and the settings as I read through the book. I would definitely want to read more in the Jeopardy Falls series, and I would love to read more of other works by this author. I recommend this to readers of clean and Christian romantic suspense and to readers interested in the art world (which you don't have to be to thoroughly enjoy the book.)
I received a complimentary copy through NetGalley from the publisher and am sharing my opinion of this very exciting and well-written book.

One insurance investigator, one FBI agent, four private investigators, and two cases to solve make for an intense read. While two too-quick romances don't always add up, in this case they are not greater than the suspense so the reading pleasure is not decreased. Bullets are flying everywhere, riddles are dropped as clues, and the investigators travel by land, air, and sea. There is non-stop action as the investigators divide to conquer. Themes of dealing with one's past and forgiving those who caused much grief, even if one of those people is oneself is well-developed. Readers see the contrast between bitterness allowed to take root and becoming a new creature in Christ.
I highly recommend One Wrong Move to fans of romantic suspense. I am grateful to have received a complimentary copy from Bethany House via NetGalley without obligation. All opinions expressed here are my own.

Another thrilling mystery suspense novel from Dani Pettrey.
This is the first book in a brand new series from a favorite author of mine, and it was action packed from the very first page.
The point of view switches between characters, giving the reader an insight into the mind of the bad guys. I find it both intriguing and disconcerting, wishing that the heroes of the story would also have the same insights we are given as we read.
Andi and Christian were fun to get to know. I loved seeing them interact and get to know each other as they attempted to solve the mystery, and also protect their own lives from the psychopath that seemed determined to kill them both.
Ms. Pettrey is a master storyteller, particularly of suspense, and this one was full of many unexpected twists and turns, and kept me guessing until the end.
