I’ve been anxiously waiting for Dani Pettrey’s new series, and OMG! She never disappoints!
Christian O’Brady and his two siblings have a shady past, being pulled into a life of crime by their parents who were con artists. Now, many years after, he’s trying to atone his past by being the best private investigator and security expert possible. But when a series of antique galleries heists target one of the galleries Christian secured, he is paired of with Andi Forester, a very talented insurance investigator who works for the insurance company of one of the galleries. But Andi also has a dark unresolved past when she worked for the FBI that she is trying to live behind. As they get to be in forced proximity, an attraction suddenly blossoms. But is it something deep and worthwhile or a passing connection? Will their past affect their growing relationship? Or will their past catch up to them and put their lives in danger?
This was an amazing start to the Jeopardy Falls Series! Pettrey has a way of immersing you in a page turner engaging plot from the first page until the last, making it hard to put the book down! I read it pretty quickly because I needed to find out what would happen next and how Christian and Andi would survive threat and danger lurking around every corner. The mystery was totally captivating. Actually there were two cases, one more related to Christian, the one of the art heists, which Andi and Christian are trying to solve, and another more related to Andi, which involves a murder which may or may not have been solved wrong, lead by Christian’s brother Deckard and Andi’s bff Harper. In a sense, there are two parallel stories developing at the same time, but it was made in a way that wasn’t confusing and hooked up pretty well. The characters are so relatable and loveable, flawed, trying hard to prove their worth. Christian, other than gorgeous, was a swoony hero with admirable traits like humility, integrity, courage and protectiveness. I loved how his relationship with Andi quickly turns into something deeper, and I loved the way he watched out for her. His relationship with God was endearing and inspiring. Andi was a great heroine too, with her resilience, honesty, courage too, and professionalism. I loved her friendship with Harper and how they had each other backs. I loved the parallel story between Deckard and Harper, and I can only say I can’t wait for their own story in book two or three. The same goes for Riley and Greyson. They all feel like a tight-knit bond fraternity team who watch out for each other, like a small family. Their interactions, banter and dialogues were the best! The villains were really creepy, particularly the one who has his own POV. That made the story even more intriguing. There’s lots of action and unexpected twists in the story. Definitely a book I highly recommend, but let me warn you: try to make time for this book, because you won’t be able to put it down! A fantastic start to a new series! A thrilling ride full of suspense, deadly intrigue and sweet romance! An inspirational message too! I can’t wait for the next book to come out! Hopefully soon!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the Publisher via NetGalley and was under no obligation to post a review. This is my honest and unbiased opinion.
First of all, I absolutely LOVE the cover, and Dani Pettrey has a way with romantic suspense that keeps the reader on the edge. One Wrong Move is also a faith-based book, and the characters call on God for help and courage. The two main characters, Christian and Andi are working together on investigating a series of gallery heists, and they are challenged from the get-go and find their lives in danger more than once as they close in on the thieves. A sub-plot involving another investigation into Andi's dismissal from the FBI follows her best friend Harper and Christian's brother Deck. It is a twisty plot, and very engrossing. As with most romantic suspense, the relationships develop quite quickly and unbelievably under such pressure. This story is no different, but I enjoyed it. This is the first book in a new series and I'm excited to read more about the characters introduced in One Wrong Move as they get their time to shine in future installments.
My sincere thanks to Bethany House Publishers, Library Thing Early Reviewers, and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book and give my unbiased opinion of it. I know a lot of fellow readers who I will be able to recommend it to.
I loved this book. For one, Andi’s job investigating insurance fraud was a nice change. I’m used to mostly law enforcement, so this was a good change. And it made for an interesting story.
I loved how complex Christian’s character was. His backstory was interesting and a wonderful way to show a person becoming a new creation in Christ.
The suspense was stellar. I kept waiting to see what would happen next. And the ending had a few surprises. There’s also a nice tease for the next book, which I’m anxiously awaiting.
Overall, One Wrong Move is a spellbinding suspense with interesting characters and a sweet romance.

Two mysteries in one, plot twists I never saw coming, and fabulous characters make the latest Dani Pettrey book a must-read!
I'm not always a fan of dual story lines but Pettrey makes it work well. While Christian and Andi are chasing down art thieves, Deckard and Harper are re-investigating what happened to Andi to cause her to lose her job. I'm curious to see if each sibling gets a book. Harper was fantastic so I'd definitely be down to spend more time with her.
The romance was a little more "physical attraction" than I typically like but there were some good moments of vulnerability where grace was extended. I just adored the relationship between Christian and Deckhard and Riley. There is clearly more story there and I can't wait to hear it.
Every development felt like a surprise. The mysteries were twistier than a roller coaster! Who is the focus of what is going on? Is it Christian or Andi? Does this have anything to do with the case that cost Andi her job? Most importantly, can Christian and Andi stop the heists before more people end up dead? Well... I guess you'll have to read it for yourself to find out :)
The first thing that stood out to me in One Wrong Move is the sibling dynamic between Christian, his brother, and his sister. I loved it, and I can't wait to read more about them. This first book of the Jeopardy Falls series not only gives us the romance between Christian and Andy, but two more romances spark in this first book, certainly eluding to more in the coming future. The book begins with two relatively creepy scenes in the bad guys' point-of-views. This is to give you a taste of what Christian and Andi are dealing with throughout the story—not showing this is a psycho-thriller, or anything like that. This is very much a romantic suspense. I would even say it leans more to the romance than the suspense. There was more focus on the hero and heroine's physical bodies than I'm used to, but overall it was tasteful. The ranch is a beautiful setting for the story, and I hope we get to frequent that locale again. I loved the suspense scenes—lots of action. The backstories for Christian and his siblings are heart-breaking and spirit uplifting. I love to read of characters who overcome a painful past. The book contains multiple point-of-view characters, as well as multiple subplots with a lot of names sounding similar. Sometimes, I found it difficult to keep everyone straight. Overall, I recommend One Wrong Move to romantic suspense lovers! You will not want to miss this one!
There’s little more that I enjoy than a new series from a favorite author. One Wrong Move Doesn’t disappoint. For this series, Pettrey has moved from coastal Maryland to New Mexico. She’s also traded the Coast Guard for private investigators with checkered pasts.
The premise of this story is art heists. The book begins with Christian being paged to attend a gallery that’s been robbed. There, he encounters Andi, an investigator for the gallery’s insurance company and the two team up to solve the theft. But Andi has a troubled past herself, as Christian’s brother is quick to point out.
As you’d expect with a Dani Pettrey novel, the central characters pop but the ensemble cast around them will also grab reader’s attention (please type faster on books 2&3). The action blends seamlessly into the romance and character development and as such I read this book pretty quickly. ani Pettrey remains one of my top authors to read and at the peak of her game.
I received a copy of One Wrong Move from the publisher via NetGalley. The obvious enjoyment is all my own.
This new series by Dani Pettrey begins with this book filled with heart-pounding suspense and developing romance. Two couples are introduced who are both tasked with solving two different crimes and also feeling attraction for one another. Cristian and Andi are the main characters and are working together to solve several high-value art heists. With their lives in danger and the attraction between the two of them beginning to sizzle, their story was engaging and totally mind-blowing at times. The second of the dual storylines deals with Harper and Deckard who are looking into the case of Andi’s being accused of mishandling evidence and getting kicked out of the FBI. Their story was just as compelling and also fraught with danger for the two who have chemistry that they both try to deny. The romance is realistic, the danger to the investigators produces non-stop action and characters that are dynamic and relatable. I really enjoyed the setting in New Mexico and all of the descriptions that let me imagine myself there, enjoying the beautiful patio in Christian’s house and the mountains that surround it. I loved this book and think it may be one of the best from the author, with details that made the story engrossing and research as well as faith that are seamlessly woven into the story. This is a book not to be missed by fans of romantic suspense, in a new place with new characrters and danger coming from unexpected places. I enjoyed the glimpses at evil that were shown at times as well as the clues and red herrings. Everything about this novel makes it the quintessential romantic suspense with a firm faith foundation and lots of information about the new characters in Jeopardy Falls. I am already looking forward to the new book in the series; I am hooked on Jeopardy Falls and the investigators there.

One Wrong Move is another fantastic Dani Pettrey hit! She always gets the balance of suspense and romance just right. The New Mexico setting was intriguing, the chemistry and attraction between Christian and Andi had sparks flying and the mystery was riveting.
This story will have readers on the edge of their seat, turning pages as fast as they can and staying up late into the night to get to the fantastic finish. One Wrong Move proves again why Dani Pettrey is at the top of my list for great romantic suspense. I can hardly wait for the second book is the Jeopardy Falls series. I appre4ciate Bethany House Publishers making copy available for review. All thoughts and opinions are my very own.
The start of a great new series!
This is romantic suspense at its finest. With great characters that pull you in, I couldn't put this one down.
This is my first book by this author and I will definitely read the backlist, and can't wait to see where this series goes
Rounded to 3.5
I’m in the minority here. I enjoyed this book but it took me a hot second to get invested and also the ending was pretty disappointing to me. It didn’t leave me feeling like wow. It ended abruptly. I did enjoy the romance aspect to it and the fact that Andi could see past Christian’s past just like Jesus does for us.
Thank you NetGalley and Bethany publishing for my copy!
One Wrong Move open a new series for the author. Dani Pettrey takes the reader to the land of enchantment far from water where previous series are set.
An art heist brings together security specialist Christian O’Brady and insurance investigator Andi Forester. Christian and Andi both have hard things in their past that are going to play a role in how the story plays out.
I love the cast of characters. Christian and Andi are good together, so complementary in their strengths.
I enjoyed the message that new life can be found in Christ. This is true even if people from our pasts aren’t ready to accept that people can change.
There is plenty of danger and suspense. I enjoyed reading from start to finish.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bethany House for the review copy of the book.
Everything you could want:
This was a wonderful Christian romantic suspense novel where the mystery and intrigue kept me guessing right up to the end. It was fast paced, with plenty of action and I loved how it was unpredictable yet still easy to follow. There was a complexity and depth to it and I also enjoyed the light Christian message.
There was a sweet romance between Andi and Christian, who made a delightful couple. It was also fun getting to know the supporting characters. I thought it was interesting having a concurrent investigation and budding romance between Harper and Deckard and now I can't wait for the next book in the series to find out what happens with them.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. All opinions expressed are solely my own.
Another exciting book by a terrific Author!! You feel like you are the main character in the book and that the excitement is you!
Join the action with a former heist-master-turned-investigator and his partner in solving crime, a disgraced FBI agent seeking to clear her name. These two must prove themselves, stop a string of gallery heists, solve a couple murders, and still find time to figure out if they’re in love. This story has one action scene after another—no “sagging middle” to slow you down! As a bonus, One Wrong Move has not one…not two…but two and a half romances.
I received this book from the publisher and was not required to leave a review. The honest opinion is my own.
I thoroughly enjoyed One Wrong Move from start to finish. It was a great introduction to the new Jeopardy Falls series, with a likeable cast of characters that the reader gets to know well in this novel.
I was happily surprised that there were actually two cases that needed solving in the story. The main plot followed Andi and Christian as they worked to uncover who was behind a string of art gallery heists. Investigations, dangerous attacks on their lives, and a captivating southwest setting made for an intriguing story. Throughout it all, the author wove in a believable romance that developed between Christian and Andi which was packed with many swoony moments.
The side plot involved the possible clearing of Andi’s name and an investigation into who could have framed her and cost her the career that she was forced to leave in the FBI. It was great to see Christian’s brother, Deckard, work with Andi’s friend, Harper, to dig into the events that so changed Andi’s life.
The author always does a great job of weaving in beautiful moments that show the characters’ reliance on God and this book remained true to that, as well. I’m excited to read the future books that will come out in this series. Christian and his siblings have interesting back stories and it will be fun to see them find their own happily ever afters.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
Christian and Andi are a dynamic duo. I loved watching them work side by side and also loved following the two crime mysteries converge into one beautifully orchestrated story because of Christian and Andi. The plot was intricate and intense, full of action, adrenaline, and surprises. Dani Pettrey really knows how to write romantic suspense - this book will grab you from the start and you will not be able to put it down.
Christian, despite his horrible childhood, is a rock solid hero who is loyal, steadfast, and dedicated. I loved meeting his family and cannot wait to see more of his siblings in the series. Andi is smart and likable. Though it takes a little while for them to warm up to each other, their romance is sigh-worthy.
Bring on the next adventure in Jeopardy Falls, NM!
I received a complimentary copy courtesy of Bethany House via LibraryThing and was under no obligation to post a positive comment. All opinions are my own.
Intriguing and suspenseful, I was quickly drawn into this engaging adventure that balances romance and relationships with an action-packed plot.
I liked how Christian and Andi both were able to use negative things in their pasts for good, getting to know each other and bonding over faith. I liked their interaction, banter, and seeing their friendship grow. It was also great seeing the whole team work together, and get to know their friends through the sub-plots.
All around this was an enjoyable read, great character development, faith, interaction, a mystery that kept me guessing, and with a full cast of characters that I can't wait to revisit!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
3.5 stars
Thank you Bethany House and Dani Pettrey for my #gifted copy. All thoughts and words are my own.
Andi and Christian are drawn together in a suspense filled crime mystery following a string of Art Gallery heists in the South West. Along with Christian's siblings, both try to solve, not one, but two crimes. We primarily follow one romance, however I do see plans in the making for the other two couples. Psst Greyson...
I have read a few of Dani's books in the past, including her Alaska series. She writes fantastic settings, and strong action and suspense scenes with great detail. And it shows in this book!
I had a couple issues with the overall storyline. The romance felt very lackluster. I kept being drawn to one of the other relationships rather than Andi and Christian. The romance would have been stronger had the story focused primarily on them rather than mixing in other relationships.
The book also has a lot of grammatical errors which I found distracting especially since I read a finished copy.
Overall, I really enjoyed the suspense and the mystery of the story. I think that is Dani's strength for sure.

Dani Pettrey’s books are auto-reads for me. I’ve read everything she’s written and I am so excited about this new series! This first installment does not disappoint. I really like that this series revolves around a group of siblings involved in some manner of law enforcement/public service. I also enjoyed that we get dual mysteries in this story, not only do we get a series of art heists and murder, we also get a mystery regarding Andi’s past and wrongful accusations that she botched a murder investigation. Even though there are two mysteries, it’s not at all hard to keep them straight and neither mystery seems shortchanged in favor of the other mystery. My favorite thing about this story is the characters, the author has created a great group of characters and after meeting them in this book, I can’t wait to see where the series takes them. After reading this book, I am completely invested in MacLeod siblings as well as Andi, Harper and Greyson. I also hope Bristol shows up in the course of the series because I would love to see her reunite with her siblings. This read has a few surprises and lots of excitement and book 2 can’t release soon enough for me!
Love it when I read a new-to-me author and I want to find more of their books. This story involves multiple storylines, not only two investigations but three couples headed toward romance. One investigation is to clear one of them of botching a murder case. The other to solve a string of gallery heists with deadly outcomes. The MacLeods, two brothers and a sister, are skilled at research and reading each others intentions. Their story moves quickly, alternating viewpoints makes sure we get all the perspectives on both cases. The research involved about the stolen art and investigation techniques must have been fun and detailed because it reads as if Pettrey knows her stuff. I received an early copy through NetGalley and hope to read another soon. My review was given freely.
