I am eager for Dani Pettrey's new series, as she is one of the best suspense Christian writers! This new series introduces us to a sibling set, and I am assuming the series will follow each of them. The first book was a really great blend of storylines - a current mystery of art gallery heists and a past crime pinned on the heroine that needs to be solved.
I thought Dani's writing was excellent as usual, and the two main characters were suitably developed (plus a few more I am eager to read more about in future books). The loves story and connection was touching.
Dani Pettrey knows how to write a suspense and her new release One Wrong Move doesn't hold back. The twists and turns fill the pages with all of the tension you need for a great story ... and then you add in the romance! This is a great start to the Jeopard Falls series and fans of romantic suspense will enjoy this one very much!
I received a copy of this book from the publisher. I was not required to give a positive review and all opinions expressed are my own.
A fantastic opening to a new series! This story hits the ground running and will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end!
I received an ARC through Netgalley and all opinions are my own.
Andi Forester left her FBI life behind under suspicious circumstances and now is an insurance investigator. Tired of coming up against people who won’t believe she is innocent of negligence at her FBI job, she has determined to put it behind her. When security expert, Christian O’Brady, becomes involved in the case all of Andi’s past comes rushing forward. Will Christian believe her? Can they work together to solve the case?
This story has multiple mysteries and several side characters within it, which make it interesting and action-packed too. The complex past of both Andi and Christian showed that even though they are not perfect, they can move forward and find good in their lives.
If you like putting clues together to solve cases, you’ll enjoy seeing if you can figure out who is behind the art thefts before Andi and Christian do. Clearing Andi’s name and restoring her reputation is also a large part of the story. I liked seeing Deckard (the man who found her negligent at the FBI) work on the case once again and to locate witnesses and details that were not part of the original report and findings. This is the first book in the Jeopardy Falls series, and I am looking forward to reading the next story.
Read this story for:
riddles
rodeos
art theft
murder
great siblings
budding romances
faith
justice
I received a complimentary copy of the book through NetGalley. A positive review was not required. All opinions are my own.
One Wrong Move pulled me in from the very first page. It was full of action and suspense. There were multiple story lines that all tied together. We are introduced to ex FBI agent turned insurance investigator Andi Forester, her friend Harper Grace, and private investigators the O'Brady siblings Christian, Deckard, and Riley, and Greyson Chadwick their mentor.
Andi and Christian with the help of the others are trying to solve a chain of art robberies while Harper and Deckard are trying to solve who framed Andi causing her to be fired from the FBI.
This is a first book in a new series and I can't wait to visit Jeopardy Falls again. This book is a Christian suspense read with romance sprinkled in. I definitely recommend this book and really loved the story line
Reading a novel by Dani Letter is like this:
Imagine you've purchased a thousand piece puzzle, and it's a complicated one. You open the box and begin, slowly making progress until you have a gorgeous, complete picture that takes your breath away.
That, my friend, is what it's like to devour a book by Pettrey.
She is a master puzzle builder, taking the tiniest bits and patiently crafting until the end, and it literally took my breath away.
Because I was holding it in as I raced through the final chapters!
The beginning seemed a little slow, but I enjoyed meeting the new characters in Jeopardy Falls (don't you just love that name!), and watching the story take shape.
One other thing I struggled with was names. The two main bad guys both started with C and were very similar, so I kept having to go back and check who was who.
In spite of those two concerns, that ending blew my mind, hence the five stars. So take your time, enjoy the view, and buckle up for a mind boggling conclusion you will not see coming!
My thanks to the publisher for my advance copy. My review has not been solicited, and my opinion is true and honest.
Dani Pettrey has done it again! “One Wrong Move” is another great romantic suspense novel. This one started off with a bang! It had non-stop action throughout the entire book. I enjoyed all the characters and the chemistry with the two main characters. I highly recommend this book and all of Dani Pettrey’s books.
I received this book from the publisher through NetGalley for my honest opinion.

Happy Reading!
I love this first book in the Jeopardy Falls series! Christian O’Brady, security analyst, teams up with former FBI forensic analyst Andi Forester, who is currently an insurance investigator, checking into a series of suspicious jewelry heists. There is plenty of action, revenge killings, and suspense to keep you reading into the wee hours of the morning! Excited to see what the next installment in this series will reveal!
One Wrong Move was a fast-paced thriller, and I loved the wild ride! Especially after having just finished reading another thriller that was less than thrilling, this was a great change of pace! The author did a great job of balancing out dialogue and action and making it feel seamless. If you enjoy thrillers that have Christian themes, clean romance, and plot twists, then One Wrong Move might be right up your alley :)
Thank you to NetGalley and the author for an eARC of One Wrong Move. A positive review was not required, only my honest opinion. All thoughts are expressly my own.
4.5⭐This book is full of suspenseful action scenes with twists that will keep you guessing. A total mixture of adventure, mystery, faith, and romance. It is Beautifully written.
Christian was born into a family of con artists who led him into a life of crime at a young age. However, he has since turned over a new leaf and become one of the leading security experts in the country. When a series of art heists occur at a gallery that Christian had previously secured, he teams up with Andi Forester, an FBI forensic analyst. Unfortunately, one of Andi's colleagues has ruined her reputation by accusing her of mishandling evidence, putting a halt to her career. Christian and Andi must work together to catch the perpetrator, but the thief is not finished playing his game. They are running out of time to catch him.
I really enjoyed reading the story. The characters were likable and the dialogue was witty and clean. The romance between Christian and Andi was swoon-worthy and I appreciated the action and fast-paced in the story. Although I prefer romance over suspense, I found the overall story to be engaging. Christian was the perfect hero, strong and kind, and exactly what Andi needed after the betrayal from her ex-fiancé.

In One Wrong Move by Dani Pettrey Christian O'Brady meets Andi Forester when one of his client's galleries is robbed. He's an elite security consultant / private investigator. She's an insurance investigator / former FBI forensic analyst. I'm sure you can see where this story is going ... trouble is brimming at every turn!
Pettrey takes us to small town Jeopardy Falls nestled in New Mexico country. I loved the quaint small town vibe that managed to attract some big time trouble.
I really enjoy the sibling interactions and the partners Pettrey has each of them paired with. While this is Christian and Andi's story we learn quite a bit about Christian's family along the way. I like how she began each ones story throughout the pages and am ready to see what comes next with Deckerd and Harper. And then the cliff hanger of Riley and Greyson. I want to know more!
This is exactly the kind of series beginning that tugs readers in and commits them from the beginning to stay through the series end.
Thank you Revell and NetGalley for the opportunity to review this book. All opinions are my own.
This is a well written suspenseful book that has lots of twists and turns. There were several instances of holding my breath. There are two different crime cases that we follow along. It’s a Christian romantic suspense book. There are lot of prayers. I loved the ending. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced free copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I received a copy from the publisher through Net Galley.
When I pick up a book by Dani Pettrey, I know I am in for a wonderful suspense read that will keep me on the edge of my seat. This one was absolutely no exception.
Throughout the story, we get to see the POV from a few different characters, which I will admit took me a minute to get used to and sort who was who... once I got it all sorted, I loved seeing all the different perspectives. One of those POVs was the villain's which certainly added an extra level of suspense and creepiness that I enjoyed. Not only do we get multiple POVs, but there was actually more than one mysteries--- a cold case involving Andi and a series of art heist. While it was again a lot to keep up with, Dani told the story wonderfully and I found myself wholly invested. There were lots of twists and turns to keep me guessing and I very much enjoyed it all. And of course--- the romance! While this story mostly focusses on Andi and Christian, we're also given a bit of a glimpse as to what's to come and I found myself really looking forward to the next book.
If you enjoy a good Christian romantic suspense, this is one not to miss.
**I received a complimentary copy for consideration. All opinions are my own.
Christian O'Brady was once a con artist and thief, trained by his parents to help them. He is now a PI and security consultant trying to make amends for what he had done. Andi Forester is a former FBI Forensic analyst. She was framed by colleagues and is now working as an insurance investigator. Christian and Andi meet while working an art gallery theft.
At times it seemed like there was two stories going on. One was where Christian's brother and Andi's friend were investigating the case where Andi was framed. The other was the art thefts. Overall it was a good book and I was not disappointed in the story. It was a good mystery and kept me guessing. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.
I received this book from Bethany House Publishing via Net/Galley in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way.
From the beginning this book was nonstop danger and action. We get multiple perspectives, including those of the criminals. It also feels like a double love story. I loved the familial ties and hope and expect we will get to see them in future books. This is an extremely well thought out and lengthy romantic suspense thriller. There is a murder mystery, art heists, painful pasts and more all bathed with His grace. This Christian romance was sweet and well written. This was my first book by this author but I am on the edge of my seat for more.
I received an eARC of this book from the publisher through NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
One Wrong Move completely sucked me in! It has all the makings of a great romantic suspense: intriguing/cutthroat criminals, riddles, art gallery heists, endearing yet complex characters, edge of your seat suspense, sizzling but clean romance, and a touch of faith. I was completely invested in the romances, figuring out the mysteries, and seeing the bad guys get their dues.
Miranda “Andi” Forester was a talented FBI forensic analyst until an allegation of mishandling evidence destroyed her career. She insists she’s innocent, but with no evidence to back up her claims, she was forced to leave and become an insurance fraud investigator. Her latest case involves an art theft at a pricey gallery in New Mexico. While investigating, she meets Christian O’Brady, a security expert who designed the security system for the gallery. Is he responsible for the thefts, or is there someone out to entrap him? Then there are the mysterious riddles Andi begins receiving.
It’s a race against time as more galleries are robbed and their lives are constantly threatened as Andi’s past and her current investigation collide. With her growing feelings and attraction to Christian, can she trust him despite his sordid past? Will they survive whoever is out to get them?
Along with Andi and Christian are Christian’s brother, private investigator Deckard MacLeod, and Andi’s best friend Harper, who’s a forensic botanist. These two are assisting in investigating the art theft as well as the past allegations against Andi. Just like Andi and Christian, Deckard & Harper have a spark between them, but Deckard’s troubled past and Harper’s upcoming overseas mission seem to make a relationship between them impossible. As they all work to uncover the truth, they must rely on each other to survive.
I literally read this book in a day! It was so hard to put down. There’s a whole slew of characters to keep track of, but I found as the story progressed, it became easier to distinguish between them. I loved how both romances developed. While Christian’s and Andi’s relationship was the main focus, I can’t wait to see what’ll happen between Deck & Harper.
The suspense was intense with one action filled sequence after another. There are several bad guys and I enjoyed trying to figure out who did what and put all the puzzle pieces together. I loved the MacLeod ranch and meeting Riley and Greyson. I also enjoyed the bits of humor and faith interspersed between all the action.
Definitely a must read that’s impossible to put down! Highly recommend to Christian romantic suspense fans. Looking forward to the next book in the series. I received an advanced complimentary copy from the publisher. All opinions are my own and voluntarily provided.
"Taunting riddles. A deadly string of heists. Two broken hearts trapped in a killer’s game."
I finished reading One Wrong Move by Dani Pettrey last night and wow! What a ride! This new romantic suspense novel had so many twists and turns, I found myself holding my breath wondering what was going to happen next. It’s the kind of story you do not want to put down. I really liked the overall plot and romance, while I also enjoyed a secondary plot that connected to our main character Andie. These characters were easy to fall for and I cannot wait to read more in this brand-new series.
This is a clean, Christian, romantic suspense novel. 4.5 stars
I received an advance reader copy of this novel. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I recommend this novel.
Really enjoyed this kickoff to a new series by Dani Pettrey! Lots of good suspense and fantastic romance as well.
One wrong move. One wrong decision. One misjudgment. That is all it can take to shape a life, for good or for bad. My favorite Dani Pettrey quality is how she takes her time. I never feel rushed when reading any of her novels, and One Wrong Move continues this trend. It perfectly balances “slow burn romance” with fast-paced thrill with a perplexing case that sends Christian and Andi reeling. If you like romantic suspense, One Wrong Move by Dani Pettrey is the book for you.
A word of advice: Though you’ll be tempted, don’t read One Wrong Move at a breakneck speed. Dani Pettrey demands the reader’s attention. I found myself thinking about this novel, contemplating what might happen next, even when I wasn’t reading…and I couldn’t get back to it fast enough. Not only because of Pettrey’s masterful portrayals of excitement and loveable characters but also because, I will admit, I’d get lost sometimes. I needed to get “into the zone” when reading One Wrong Move. Pettrey packs the novel with details, plot points, and character histories. When I got distracted, it sometimes took me a few pages to sink back into the story. Not because I didn’t enjoy it; I did. Rather, Pettrey just covered every question I, as a reader, might have had. Metaphorically speaking, I had to fit the pieces back together when life circumstances slid some pieces off the table and onto the floor.
I really enjoyed the art heist investigation. Romantic suspense novels typically feature a missing person or a murdered sibling/parent; the art heist was new. How everything laced together with both Andi and Christian’s histories—chef’s kiss. Both characters aim to prove themselves in their lines of work, and they do both through their professionalism and their interactions with each other. Andi and Christian just…worked. Readers also experience some romantic tension between a couple other characters (no spoilers here!), which adds to One Wrong Move’s charm and appeal. Typically, I like for my romantic suspense novels to focus on one relationship. Doing more than one can feel rushed and cluttered, but Pettrey handles everything beautifully in her newest novel.
Likeable characters, a compelling mystery, fulfilling faith, and a believable mystery. One Wrong Move has it all. Bravo, Dani Pettrey. I can’t wait to see what else the “Jeopardy Falls” series might have in store.
