Cute book that features numerous fairytales. A store pops up out of nowhere in a perfect suburban town. An initial visit to the store by mom and her daughter reveals great deal.. but are they? Everything is in bulk. As the young girl searches through the store, she finds a portal that takes her down a rabbit hole and she ends up in something similar to Alice in wonderland. Each portal has a different fairy tale

9-year-old Lana has loved spending time with her brother, Harrison, in the past. Now that Harrison is entering middle school, however, spend most of his time studying and doesn’t have time for Lana. To cheer her up, her mom takes her to the new supermarket that seemingly popped up overnight. There, she finds a book of fairytales. Eventually, with the help of the old may running the supermarket, she falls into the fairytales. There, the fairytales are darker and more dangerous than Lana remembers. To help the fairytale characters find their happily ever after, Lana must help the heroes defeat evil fairies, guide princes to their destinations, and more. To fully defeat the evil in the fairy tales, however, she’ll need Harrison’s help. Will Lana convince her brother to help her? Will she reach happily ever after?

The plot is enchanting, engaging, and well written. The world building is well done and draws the reader easily into Lana’s world and the fairytale world. Characters are smart, likable, and easy to root for. Their handling of the fairy tales add a humorous tone to the plot. Illustrations are detailed and help bring the story to life. Readers who like Mihi Ever After series, fantasy, adventure, and books with problem solving throughout will want to pick this one up. Recommended for most library collections.

Loved the unique twist on this classic fairy tale! As a bookseller, I know my customers would love this middle grade book.

A children’s adventure for children in the 9-11 age group. I liked the concept of the portal in the grocery story and how the author mixes in other fairytales. Overall an entertaining story.
