I enjoyed reading this book. It had a good story to it. I liked the variety of characters in it. It was a well written book.

Unfortunately I was unable to download this book before the archive date, so I'm not able to leave a review. I look forward to reading and reviewing books by this author in the future.

I don't care a whole lot about parents and being a parent, so it's harder for me to care and invest in their struggle with a missing kid. While that's not impossible, the book needs to do more than the same old to really work for me.

Gabriel was in Central Park with his sister when he disappears. His mother is frantic and looking for answers as to who would take her son!!
They look into her job, and if anyone was upset about her, or what is going on? There are so many things left unanswered that are investigated!
This was a good story that really got you thinking, and kept you guessing!!

Someone Saw Something by Rick Mofina is a psychological thriller about a missing child.
First, let me thank NetGalley, the publisher Harlequin Trade Publishing, and the author, for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
My Synopsis: (No major reveals, but if concerned, skip to My Opinions)
Charlotte Tanner loses her six-year old brother Gabriel in Central Park.
Their mother is news journalist Corina Corado. She has had a lot of bad press herself. She has made a lot of enemies with some of her reporting, but would one of them take their revenge on her by hurting her child?
Their father, Robert Tanner, is an engineering consultant in the middle of some high dollar negotiations. Could someone be trying to sway his decisions?
Or does the kidnapping have something to do with the secrets they are all keepin?
A boy's life is in danger, and the detectives will dig deep to find the answer, but Corina plans on finding her son herself.
My Opinions:
First, I could see this becoming a movie. I visualized everything very easily. The writing, although sometimes repetitive, was good.
The plot had enough twists and turns to keep me riveted. Everyone had secrets, although sometimes innocuous.
There were a lot of characters, and it was sometimes confusing. Family dynamics really came into play, and everyone blamed themselves (and occasionally each other) for the missing child.
Overall, Mofina is one of my favorite Canadian authors, and he nailed this. A very taut, suspenseful, and entertaining thriller.

Corina cannot find her six year old child Gabriel,. While the police do a massive search, secrets begin to come to light and the missing child seems to have some connections to these secrets. I enjoyed this book because it did have a good ending and not quite how I thought it would end. I have read many books by this author and they never disappoint.
I thank the author, publisher and Netgalley for my ARC in exchange for my honest review.

3.75 stars rounded up
I admitted had trouble getting into Someone Saw Something - ever since I became a mother, stories of child abductions have been incredibly difficult for me to read. But I'm happy that I was able to put that aside because I ended up loving this book. I enjoyed the police procedural aspects along with the fringe conspiracies.
Thank you to NetGalley, Harlequin Trade Publishing | MIRA, and Rick Mofina for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you to HTP, MIRA, Netgalley and Rick Molina for the ARC!
When six year old Gabriel vanishes from Central Park, his mother - news anchor Corina Coardo - is desperate to get him back. Who could have taken her son and why? Detectives suspect a connection between the kidnapping and the piles of hate mail Corina has received. In her line of work, it’s not unusual for haters to send messages threatening violence. Corina is up against the ticking clock as the search for her missing child continues.
As a parent myself, I can’t imagine a worse nightmare than your child going missing. I spent the majority of this book with my heart in my throat - I could feel the anxiety in my throat as I read about Corina living through her son’s disappearance.
Part thriller, part police procedural, this story read like something ripped from the headlines. In some ways, it reminded me of a Law & Order SVU episode (my favorite show). As I read, I was quite impressed with how the story unfolded. Though it did slow down quite a bit in the middle, it picked up again and held my attention throughout.
“Someone Saw Something” is out now! This book will be shared to my instagram blog (@books_by_the_bottle) shortly :)

A parent’s worst nightmare; their child is abducted! Mofina once again shows his mastery in this tightly wound thriller. The story grabs you from the first page and the many twists and turns in the story make it a real page turner that makes it hard to put the book down.
Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing who provided me with a copy of this book. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Six-year-old Gabrial vanishes from Central Park one day after school. His mom, a news anchor, is desperate for answers.
Detectives think that there is a tie to the hate mail his mom has been receiving. But as the investigation deepens, and secrets the family holds begin to come out, could it have been something different?
This book yeets you right into the action with Gabriel being kidnapped. However, then the plot seemed to almost come to a screeching halt (brake check) and things really slowed down. I It was indeed suspenseful, but I found myself getting lost in minute details that I felt didn’t really add to the story very much (or at all). There were also a lot of characters, and it was hard to keep track of who was who (notebook to refer back to). The family dynamics that arepresent in this book were ultimately relatable even though the characters weren’t(not often). I think that in the end things came together nicely and all the questions were answered satisfactorily.

A family is put into complete turmoil when their 6-year-old son disappears while he is being watched by his sister in the park. The mother is a famous news reporter and uses her entire network of connections to try to find the boy. Meanwhile, all sorts of theories are being presented, some blaming the family for the disappearance. This was wrought with suspense and there was abundance of possible suspects who could have committed this crime. I thoroughly enjoyed this and would recommend it to fans of Alafair Burke and Joanna Schaffhausen.

Corina and Robert appeared to have it all. Both successful in their careers. Cornia in journalism and Robert in high rise real estate. They have two children, Charlotte who is Robert's daughter from a previous marriage. She is 16 years old and has become friendly with a young man in his 20's that drive for uber (but its called something else). They also have a 6 year old son Gabriel who is adopted. The nightmare begins when Corina has asked her step daughter to pick up Gabriel from school. Upon returning home, Gabriel disappears in Central park and their lives begin to unravel in the search of Gabriel and who took him. This is one of those reads that you have to have patience because it doesn't come clear until you are about 80% in the book. You might catch a few hints but they are very subtle in their delivery. However, in the investigation the whole family has a few secrets that seem suspicious and make their world a nightmare in many different levels. Who can you trust, why and how long. Both Robert and Corina's careers take a hit as well. Fake news, bribery and a marriage about to fall apart. A family in a crisis.
I have read Mofina before but this seemed a little different in the delivery. I think with all that was going on, it was hard for me to find a connection. I did still enjoy
A special thank you to Harlequin and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.

Charlie was tasked with picking up her brother Gabriel from his private school in New York's upper east side. After they go to Central Park to fly his new plane. She takes her eyes off her brother for a minute while talking to Vince, an older guy her parents have forbid her to talk to and Gabriel vanishes. The police quickly come as soon as Charlotte calls them They start getting the story and looming for the little boy.
News reporter Carina Corado is called and so is her husband Robert. They both run to the scene as fast as they can. As the days pass and the family is dragged through the media and asked so many personal questions about their family and life they can't see straight.
This book was a real page turner! It was fun to follow along with the investigation and to see how Gabriel's disappearance affected Corina, Robert, and Charlotte. The story was very well plotted and twisty. This is my first book by this author but it won't be my last.

Someone Saw Something

Rick Mofina is a pro when it comes to writing mystery/suspense novels that provide the reader with twists and turns and then brings the reader into the story and makes the reader feel every emotion. This is a crime novel that Mofina took on with passion and is extremely intense.
Gabriel and his sister walked through Central Park on their way home from school. His 16 yr old sister, Charlotte, looked down at her phone and in that split second Gabriel is gone. The family is well known as the mother, Corina, is a journalist and popular newscaster. There are so many leads that the police must investigate everyone. The story starts off a tad bit slow but then blazes through the chapters with intensity. Could his disappearance have something to do with the fact that Gabriel was adopted? Or could it be the older love interest of Charlotte? The father though is the one with secrets. I was completely engaged in this book and could not do anything else until I finished this book. I love love love Mofina and cannot wait to read something else from him. BTW,…….there are no bread crumbs left so you will have to read it until the end to see what happened. It truly is worth the read.
Thank you to Netgalley, the author, as well as the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

I usually really enjoy Mr. Mofina's books but unfortunately this one wasn't for me. I thought the premise was really good but found it too drawn out and repetitive.

3.5
This was my first crime novel I’ve read. I mostly read thrillers but wanted to branch out and read a book that’s more heavily based on the crime itself. It was a solid read, written well. Enjoyed the mention in the book of Canada as a Canadian.
This book follows a mother named Corina who is a journalist and news anchor. She has been reporting on stories all over the world with her career. The tables turn when her son Gabriel goes missing from Central Park under the watch of his stepsister Charlotte. Now Corina understands what it’s like to be on the other side of the news broadcast microphone.
I had higher hopes for the novel. I found the first half of the book was very predictable if you’ve watched any crime TV and so I found it hard to keep going with the story - I think if I didn’t receive a copy through NetGalley I might’ve put the book down. I was missing out on the emotional side to characters at the start. I was hoping for more anguish, more hysteria over an event like that from the get go. I found in that first half of the book there were repeating scenes being written just in different character’s POV. For example, Corina and Charlotte (calling phone, checking the tracking, calling school) - I was reading Corina’s POV which had the same moments stated in Charlotte’s a few pages back. Another instance was Corona, Robert and Charlotte’s POV they all were stating Vince & Charlotte the same way. So in those instances, it felt like I was reading the same thing twice.
Again, like I said it was a solid read. The Prologue caught my attention. Then it drifted. But then the remaining 1/3 of the book picked up, my interest was piqued and stayed around when 150 pages left when there was a storyline for Vince, for Charlotte and for the mystery woman. The ending was satisfying, a good wrap up for the story.
Thank you Harlequin Trade Publishing (MIRA), HarperCollins Canada and NetGalley for the eARC!

This story was sad and trilling all in one. It follows a moms journey looking for her six year old son who disappeared. I was at the edge of my seat and I really enjoyed this book, I didn't want to put the book down.

⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Six year old Gabriel goes missing when his 16-year-old sister Charlotte walk through Central Park on his way home from school. Who is to blame for Gabriel’s disappearance? The way Gabriel was adopted? His mom’s job as a reporter? His sisters older love interest? Or his dad with some secrets and a burner phone?
I enjoy Rick Mofina’s books, but it’s been a hot minute since I’ve read any. I was so curious as to what happened to Gabriel!! I love a good family drama. And some unreliable characters that you have no idea who to believe!
It did drag on a bit, and there were quite a few characters to keep track of. I wasn’t a huge fan of the ending. But a decent book that had me guessing the entire time.
Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for an eARC. Someone Saw Something is available now.
