I usually like all of Rick Mofina's books as he can craft a fast-paced story with spooky and suspenseful elements. However, Someone Saw Something felt slow for me. The "several years earlier" portion was good and had me thinking I might know what was happening. Overall, it was a good story with several red herrings and many suspicious characters to choose from, but the pacing felt cumbersome, and the book too long for how it all culminated and what was revealed.

When you go from reporting the news to becoming the news!

Corina Corado has it all. An impressive career as a news journalist for a prominent broadcasting company in New York. On the home front, she’s happily married to Robert, with step-daughter Charlotte and an adopted son Gabriel. Everything she ever wanted!

With Corina busy at work and Robert stuck in a meeting out of state, she turns to Charlotte to pick Gabriel up from school.

It only takes a moment…

A detour on the way home through Central Park, Charlotte deep into her phone texting her secret boyfriend and…

POOF! Gabriel is gone!

Now it’s a race against time to find Gabriel. With the family in the spotlight their lives are about to be on full display! How long can they keep their secrets from each other…and the police!?

Everyone has something to hide. And the fallout may cost Gabriel his life!

Rick Mofina is one of my favorite authors! An automatic read when I see a new release! As always I’m on the edge of my seat and putting everything on hold as I tear through one of his books!

While I did guess the who, I was kept in the dark on the why and how right to the end!

Thank you to NetGalley for this copy of Someone Saw Something by Rick Mofina. He is one of my favorite authors so I couldn’t wait to get a copy!
When your child goes missing, it’s every parent’s worst moment. It was for news anchor Corina Corado when her six-year-old son, Gabriel, disappears. Does it have something to do with the hate mail she has received, or secrets kept by her husband and stepdaughter? Or someone at her work? Lots of secrets kept by everyone involved!
I totally enjoyed this book. It kept me on a roller coaster from beginning to end, and I couldn’t wait to see who had kidnapped Gabriel and how they were involved with the family. There were many subplots throughout the book with kept it totally interesting. Highly recommended! Another great one by Rick Mofina!

This book was a struggle for me. The writing seemed disjointed, there were a lot of characters and extraneous descriptions, and it was hard to connect with anyone. I usually love Mofina’s books, but this one wasn’t for me. I did not finish it.

Synopsis (From Netgalley, the provider of the book to review)
*******************************************************

A missing child is every parent’s worst nightmare.

For journalist Corina Corado, it’s a terrifying reality.

When six-year-old Gabriel vanishes from Central Park, his mother, news anchor Corina Corado, is desperate for answers. Who would take her son—and why?

Detectives suspect there’s a connection to the barrage of hate mail Corina’s received over the years. In her line of work, it’s not unusual for agitated conspiracy theorists to send messages that threaten violence…or worse. But as the investigation deepens, the secrets that Corina, her husband, Robert, and her stepdaughter, Charlotte, have kept start to unravel.

As the truth behind Gabriel’s disappearance emerges, Corina must race the clock to track down her missing child…before paying the ultimate price.

It took a darn long time to get to Central Park --- too long. Way too long. I get that it was background information about Corina and her personality and job but “get to the point please”! After that, the story was interesting and enjoyable but overall, to me, an #MOTR read.

Six year old Gabriel goes missing in Central Park while walking home with his sister. She feels guilty because she was on her phone and not paying attention. His mother Corina is an investigative reporter and has had lots of hate mail. It’s a rush to find Gabriel. A book that’s hard to put down. Who kidnapped Gabriel and will they find him alive.

Corina reports. Now she is the one being talked about. Her son is missing. Did anyone see anything? This talented author has written a cannot put down story of mystery and intrigue. A page turner. This is a difficult story about the missing child. Fiction that reads like nonfiction. This story is powerful. Family and friends. Helping others. Having hope. Spend an afternoon trying to determine the ending. I look forward to more great books by this author. Thanks Netgalley

"Someone Saw Something" is a tense, dark mystery with well-drawn characters and a fast pace. You may not be able to set this book down. I would recommend for fans of true crime and grittier suspense novels. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.
