LOVE THIS BOOK! I normally don't like gothic spooky vibes were on par, I loved seeing how it all turned out. The twists and turns were what I expect out of a cozy but not really a mystery.

This was a fantastic read! It has everything you could want, romance, intrigue, suspense, mystery, secrets, and danger. I was a fun, spooky read for October!

Hyacinth Bell has an aptitude for botany and agriculture. Because of her well known work, she has been asked to care for the orchid garden of Mr. Whitbeck while he is away. Not only is his estate spooky by itself, the inclusion of forbidden areas and hallways, moaning and other creepy sounds, and unexplained occurrences make this an adventure for Hyacinth. And the fact that the caretaker is extremely handsome, makes it all the better!

Read if you like:
Regency London
Wholesome romance
Haunted mansions

Hyacinth Bell accepts a position to care for the exotic orchid collection of Lord Whitmore at his residence Ashthorne hall while he is away. The book drew me in with promises of Regency London's posh society and the eerie setting of Ashthorne Hall. I was excited to unravel a tale filled with mystery and romance. The vivid descriptions of ballrooms and fragrant orchids set the stage wonderfully.

However, as I read on, I found myself wishing for more excitement in the plot. The story took its time, and not much action happened, leaving the anticipated thrilling moments wanting. The romantic aspect, though sweet, seemed out of place, like a flower blooming at the wrong time.

But, here's the thing—the book was an easy, quick read, finished in a day. This could be a plus if you're into swift, uncomplicated reads. If you love Regency romance and don't mind a light thrill, this book might suit your taste.

In summary, if you're picking this up, expect a simple, laid-back experience rather than an adrenaline-pumping adventure. It's like a gentle dance, taking small, measured steps through history's corridors.

Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for letting me read an advanced copy of this book for review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Overall, this was a fast and enjoyable read. I love a creepy old house with a ghost! Than there all the warnings to the FMC, which she doesn't heed. To top it off there is a handsome man with a secret. What more can you want in October? Have fun!!!

This was a fun book to read in October. Full of mystery, intrigue, and maybe a ghost it was a good spooky read for a regency era lover.

Come to take care of an orchid collection at a Ashthorne Hall, Hyacinth is intrigued and excited when she learns of rumors of treasure and ghosts in the grand estate. As she tries to learn more she encounters the handsome caretaker Lucas. They make an instant connection but as time passes she knows there are secrets he keeps hidden. As the rumors become more of a reality and as danger lurks near will he trust her enough with those secrets.

This was a fast-paced and clean read. The romance is a little rushed in my opinion as I’m not a huge fan of instant love. But despite that I did enjoy their journey. The author also dives into some pretty heavy topics of the time, which I thought was a refreshing change. Overall I would highly recommend.

Thank you to NetGalley and Shadow Mountain Publishing for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

A tale of secrets, mystery, and danger
This book weaves together superstitions, science, mystery, secrets, romance, and danger for a fascinating tale, you don’t want to put down. Hyacinth Bell was the daughter of a viscount who gathered men of science to learn of new techniques in agriculture. More importantly, he encouraged Hyacinth to join him in his studies to gain her own knowledge. Now, a well-known botanist in her own right with a specialty in orchids, Hyacinth has been asked to tend the orchid garden of Mr. Whitbeck, an orchid enthusiast, while he is out of the country. When she arrives in the village near the Whitbeck estate, she is met by tales of hauntings, pirates, and mysteries only to arrive at the estate and find it equally imposing. Surrounded by forbidden hallways with locked doors, sounds of moaning, unexplained occurrences, and a very attractive caretaker, Hyacinth needs to keep her wits about her and her observation skills sharp to get to an understanding of her temporary home and the real dangers it holds. Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the copy. This is my review and all thoughts are my own.

This was such a great October read! It was a cozy mystery that kept me intrigued through the whole storyline. Hyacinth was a vibrant main character and her interactions with the other characters and the spooky elements of the story was really fun.

Not a favorite of mine. I was hoping for a halloween feel story and this gave you that here and there. It was pretty slow moving. Not a lot of conversations drag a book down especially in the first. Then bam insta love hit and I was checking out. If you like that kind of thing this is for you.
Clean historic gothic romance

A Dark but Interesting read. The romance is the light. Hyacinth has been sent to look after some prized Orchids, she is an expert in her field. Lucas is the handsome caretaker, nephew of the housekeeper. The housekeeper's daughter has recently died and Hyacinth, finding doors and corridors closed to her wonders if the ghost of Rosa is haunting the house. The owner of the local garden supplies has a creepy assistant , James, that Hyacinth dislikes. There is historical tradegy in the story, which we learn more about from Lucas's sister Poppy. A good read perhaps an uncomfortable one but the romance is joyful.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thank you to NetGalley & the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review! The Orchids of Ashthorne Hall by Rebecca Anderson is one of those hauntingly good reads perfect for a cozy evening in. It's not too long, and I was able to finish it in one sitting. It happened to be a very foggy, eerie autumn day while I read it, which I found worked for the book. That probably gives a good sense of the vibes of this story! I also want to say I enjoyed Hyacinth and Lucas both as individual characters, as well as their romance! All around pretty well-written! If you're looking for your next read and you like historical romances with gothic and spooky elements, I think this would be a good choice!

spooky dark haunting beautiful story perfect for halloween about a woman who goes to a manor and she works with flowers and there is a weird caretaker lady who tells her she cant go to all the halls of the manor. she hears a ghost who obv. needs help, i couldnt stop reading this book i loved how dark an gloomy it was. and the man she falls for is hiding a secret too good to be true.

i loved the characters first name Hyacinth. and how she deeply cared for flowers because one of them reminded her of her mother.

Why did lucas pretend he didnt know what was troubling Hyacinth, there was a big mystery there. I loved the writing style and how ghostly the book was. ghostly historical romance is one of my favorite genre.

Thank you to netgalley for approving my request for this book it made my day. 5 stars!!
