📖My Thoughts📖
I was so excited to be able to return to the quaint town of Geneva Grove and all of its lovely characters. I swear Butterball the cat has become one of my favorites, always getting himself into mischief. He definitely seems to keep Delilah on her toes, that’s for sure. I’ve been fortunate enough to have read the first two books in the Deep Dish Mysteries series, but I don’t think it would difficult to jump right in if you haven’t. I was a little disappointed that there wasn’t a lot about the relationship between Capone and Delilah getting into the book, and they seemed to bicker more, but in the second half of the book or so, things were brought up that explained feelings towards the relationship. This book actually brought up some emotions that I wouldn’t have expected to get from reading a cozy mystery, but I think that having read the first two books, I’ve gotten a connection with a lot of the characters, feeling like I really know them. Overall this was another great installment in the series and I’m looking forward to the next one coming out!
Thank you Netgalley, Mindy Quigley and St. Martin’s Press for the opportunity to read and review this book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
When Delilah and her team head to a catering job for the public library board at a secluded historical estate they were not expecting so much drama. When one of the board members ends up murdered after insinuating things were not as they seem Delilah and Capone are on the case. When a severe storm causes the guests to be stuck overnight together and another murder occurs the situation becomes dire. Will Capone and Delilah be able to catch the killer before the guests are able to leave?
This might be my favorite installment of this series, with a nod to Agatha Christie having all the suspects confined together in one setting. What an entertaining cozy mystery!
I love this cozy mystery series. I am absolutely hooked on it. I love Delilah and Calvin. They are so great together solving mysteries and their relationship. I absolutely adore this series and I make sure to get a physical copy because I love rereading this great cozy mystery series.
I just reviewed Public Anchovy #1 by Mindy Quigley. #PublicAnchovy1 #NetGalley

Delilah is catering a Prohibition-themed fundraiser and is working on a pizza recipe when a guest requests something special at the last minute. Before she has a chance to finish the request there’s a dead body. Everyone ends up trapped in the isolated mansion with the power out, but what they didn’t bargain for is being stuck there with a dead body and a potential murder amongst them.
Detective Capone deputizes Delilah because she’s the only one he feels he can trust, even though his mother is one of the guests. From making pizzas to helping solve a murder, Delilah is ready for whatever comes her way, even if there’s a chance that she and the detective will become more than friends.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for allowing me to read an ARC of this novel. #NetGalley #PublicAnchovy1
Fun addition to the series. The whole D & S crew is back for another adventure. This time, the crew is tasked with catering a 1920s themed party in one of Geneva Bay’s mansions. Of course, nothing goes as planned and Delilah finds herself involved in a locked room mystery. Can Delilah channel her inner Sam Spade to solve the mystery before it is too late?
Turned out this is book three in the series. That was not a problem and I enjoyed this book very much. I'm sure I missed some character development, especially from book one, but I but the author gave enough back story to make all things make sense. The recipes sounded delicious and woohoo they are in the back of the book. I might just give one or two a try. Solid 4 star 🌟 read.
A bad storm leaves a handful of party guests and Delilah’s employees stranded in a mansion with a dead body… and possibly the killer!
This is the third book in the Deep Dish Mystery series, but for me it worked as a standalone.
Told entirely from Delilah’s POV, this was such a cute and charming cozy mystery.
Wide variety of characters - I loved Jarka and Delilah’s cat Butterball
Set in a historic mansion in Wisconsin, I found myself reading a lot of the dialogue in my head with a classic Wisconsin/upper Midwest accent
The pacing was a bit slow in the beginning, but it picked up after the party started and the murder was discovered.
The recipes included after the story sound wonderful!
Thank you @Netgalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review, and to @stmartinspress for sending me a finished copy of this fun story.
What a fun cozy mystery! Public Anchovy #1 is book 3 of the Deep Dish Mysteries series by Mindy Quigley. This book can be read as a standalone and is a quick/fun read.
Delilah and her best friend Sonya own a specialty pizza shop in Geneva Bay, WI. It is a touristy spot so in the off months they have to cater to bring in some extra cash. Their current catering job is for a fundraiser for their local library at the historic mansion of a wealthy library board member's home.
Tragedy strikes the party even before dinner is served with the death of an ex-board member. Not to fear, Detective Calvin Capone is in attendance and gets right to work. While most of the attendees have left the party, there was still a group who didn't get out in time to avoid the winter storm damage. To make matters worse, the emergency vehicles could not get through which meant that they were all stuck there with a dead body. Delilah and her sluethy crew help Capone determine that this was no accident - it was murder! And they were in fact stuck in this house with the murderer - overnight there was a 2nd murder plus an attempted murder.
I really enjoyed this book. It was really well written with an array of emotions flowing throughout the book. It was a nice change of pace from my usual books and the characters really were great.Mindy Quigley is a “new to me: author and I will definitely be going back to read the previous books in this series. I do think that at times things were silly or over the top but really most cozy mysteries are like that. Not really sure if the cat was needed in this story but who doesn’t love a cute furry sidekick? I loved the tension between Delilah and Calvin, the romance reader in me cannot wait to see what happens between them in the future.

I love this series and this recent installment didn’t disappoint.
Delilah and Sonya are likable characters, and who wouldn’t love Delilah’s furry companion Butterball. The story got me hooked from the start, and I couldn’t put it down. I like knowing the backstory but you can definitely pick up this read without reading the others.
Parts of this felt very like Agatha Christie for me, which I loved (maybe it was the trapped group of people). The ending was a surprise and I can’t wait to see what comes next for Delilah.

This book was a great, quick read!
Delilah and Son are back at it again - this time they are catering a fancy fundraising gala for the Friends of the Library, in a mansion on the water. Only dealing with picky eaters isn't their biggest issue at this event; the outgoing chair of the Friends of the Library Board, Edgar Clemmons, passes along a sinister message, and some rare books, to Delilah, who is supposed to pass them on to Sonya.
Sonya has no idea what the message means or why she was given the books, but she can't ask because Edgar is killed and there are no shortage of suspects. A huge storm hits, some guests leave, but some get stuck behind - with the dead body!
Lucky for those remaining, Detective Capone is on the scene, but when the power goes out his job of catching the killer gets a little harder. With help, unable to reach the mansion, and another murder taking place, Capone actually asks Delilah for help.
This story was really enjoyable and not easy to figure out, especially given that there are only so many people stuck in the house and someone is obviously the killer. I was happy to see that Capone and Delilah make progress on their "relationship", plus we get to meet Capone's mom, Lola. Fear not, Butterball is also throughout the story and just may end up saving the day.
Princess Fuzzypants here: This is a great combination of a classic-type murder mystery and a cat mystery even though the cat in question, Butterball, does not “solve” the murder, he does play a very important role. Delilah and her pizza crew are tasked with catering a very posh party at a remote mansion. She is asked to perform the impossible of coming up with a pizza that happens to have none of the pizza ingredients. It is in her quest to accomplish this that said kitty gets involved.
In spite of the challenges, things are going well until one of the guests is murdered and then a storm isolates the remaining guests and Delilah and her staff. Unfortunately one of those still there is the murderer and the killer is not done doing nefarious deeds yet. The power goes out in the storm and everyone is on edge waiting to see whether help arrives before the next victim is found. It is all very well paced and planned and while the reveal was not unexpected, it still kept me involved right until the end. It was an enjoyable read which I give five purrs and two paws up.
This is the first book I've read in this series, and I enjoyed it. When all the suspects are trapped in one home together, it makes for interesting logistics and problems of who's safe with whom. There are also some clever clues and red herrings, with a bit more intricate plotting than I usually see in a cozy. Overall, it's a good read (despite the terrible title). I need to go back and read the first two books!
Review copy provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I am puzzled about the title. Unless I overlooked it, anchovies were never mentioned in this book. In fact, the biggest culinary challenge the chef encountered was making a non-pizza. The story was interesting, but I did figure out the plot line halfway through the book.
I was sent this ARC by Mindy herself. Thank you to Mindy for a copy! funny enough I had never read any of the other books in the series, but I plan on purchasing them tomorrow at Barnes & Noble. This was fun, it felt very much like "knives out" or "glass onion!" My only issue was maybe too many red herrings? But that's not really a problem, just a little hard to keep track of.
The characters were definitely fun and funny. The pace is quick in the back half, but I enjoyed just about every minute!
Public Anchovy #1
Deep Dish Mysteries, Book #3
Mindy Quigley
5 Stars
Synopsis:
Public Anchovy #1 is the third book in Mindy Quigley's delectable Deep Dish Mystery series, set in a Wisconsin pizzeria.
While Geneva Bay’s upper crust gets ready to party down at a Prohibition-themed fundraiser, pizza chef Delilah O’Leary is focused on seeing her struggling restaurant through the winter slow season. The temperature outside is plummeting, but Delilah’s love life might finally be heating up, as hunky police detective Calvin Capone seems poised to (finally) make a move.
But Delilah’s hopes of perfecting a new “free-from” pizza recipe for a charity bash are dashed when a dead body crashes the party. Soon, Capone, Delilah, and her entire staff are trapped in an isolated mansion and embroiled in a dangerous game of cat and mouse.
To catch an increasingly-desperate killer, Delilah will have to top all of her previous crime-solving accomplishments, and a few pizzas, too. (Amazon)
Review:
The characters are well developed and well rounded. Delilah has been busy getting ready to present her pizzas at a charity event. But when a dead body is found and the weather takes a turn for the worse, she will have her hands full trying to figure out who the murderer is. And trying to stay alive until morning.
The author is very talented in her descriptive writing and these descriptions pulled me into the story from the very beginning. Whether I was reading about the different pizzas or being trapped in the mansion, I wanted to see what would happen next. The writing style flows smoothly and the book is an easy read.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well crafted cozy mystery. I am already looking forward to the book in the series.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book provided by the publisher, St. Martin’s Press, and NetGalley, which I greatly appreciate.
In the third installment of Mindy Quigley's Deep Dish Mysteries series, Delilah O'Leary and her coworkers get out of their Wisconsin pizzeria to cater a library fundraiser in the home of a wealthy benefactor. At the last minute they are faced with a special order due to allergies. This throws their time line into disarray which is just the start of circumstances that will challenge the team. Throw in a severe storm, and the scene is set for a murder. In the style of Agatha Christie, a small group of eccentric characters are trapped in an old mansion knowing that one of them is a murderer. Quigley writes many twists and turns that keep the reader guessing until the very end. Book number four comes out this year.
A fun little cozy mystery. The characters were fun to follow in this book including the cat. The setting of a mysterious house and being stuck somewhere always seems to add to the mystery also. I will definitely be reading more by this author.
"Public Anchovy #1" by Mindy Quigley offers a cozy mystery set in a Wisconsin pizzeria, weaving together suspense, romance, and culinary delight elements. While the premise of a murder mystery amid a group of trapped individuals sets the stage for intrigue, some aspects may require readers to suspend disbelief.
The narrative unfolds within the confines of Geneva Bay, where a Prohibition-themed fundraiser quickly turns sinister. Delilah O’Leary, the resilient pizza chef, finds herself thrust into a perilous situation alongside the charming police detective Calvin Capone and an ensemble of intriguing characters.
Quigley's storytelling shines in character development, particularly in the budding romance between Delilah and Calvin. However, the swift recovery of a victim of attempted murder may strain credulity for some readers.
Despite its darker tone and occasional leaps of logic, "Public Anchovy #1" offers moments of warmth and humor, buoyed by the presence of beloved pets Butterball and new cat friend, Gloria. While not the standout entry in the Deep Dish Mystery series, it lays the groundwork for future developments and ensures readers will eagerly anticipate the next installment.
Quigley's latest installment is a satisfying addition to the series, blending culinary delights with amateur sleuthing in a charming small-town setting. Fans of the series will relish the opportunity to reunite with familiar faces and savor another slice of Delilah's delectable adventures.
I have been provided with a review copy of Public Anchovy #1 from NetGalley for an impartial review. I just loved getting to enter this world. I just loved getting to meet these characters and see what they are currently getting themselves into. This book was just a really fun read. I just lost myself in this great story and I didn’t want to put it down. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
Amazing!! 🤩🤯
My family kept needing me during this cozy or I 100% would have binged it in one sitting! A friend I was buddy reading with had live updates as my jaw dropped several times. (Thanks Jenn for the support 😅)
This book is the exact reason I read cozy mysteries. It was such a puzzle and at any given time my invisible string web (picture a detectives board on a TV show) was not even close to solving this one. Every time I thought, ok…now we solve, the author hits us with another BAM moment and the chaos just kept building. My nerves are shot -I think I need a pizza. 😅😏
This series continues to get better and better -book #4 has a release date and a spot on my shelves reserved.
Order up! This one’s a winner!
