This book kept me intrigued from start to finish! I thought the concept of this novel was so interesting… being a therapist myself, this was wild!
This was an enjoyable read that I would recommend. I am looking forward to more titles by this author.
A must read for fans of psychological thrillers. Thank you for the ARC.
Will and Erin's marriage is on the rocks, largely due to Erin's troubling experiences. She perceives events and memories that Will insists never occurred, leading her to question her sanity. They seek help from Maggie, a therapist haunted by her own past trauma—the unsolved murder of her sister. When Erin inadvertently reveals knowledge about Maggie's sister that she couldn't possibly have, Maggie's obsession with the past resurface…
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for granting me free access to the advanced digital copy of this book.
I read this book at a fairly quick pace (one day). The beginning started off slow for me -- in fact, there were a few times I thought about stopping altogether. Thankfully I didn't, as the plot thickened up around 50% and I sped through the rest of the novel. I would have preferred less bouncing between perspectives. In the end, I didn't love or hate it... it was just OK. I'd still recommend it to others!
I don’t know if I’d be able to forgive my husband for losing my dog either! This was only the tip of the ice berg for this couple. They seem to have more issues that needed to be unearthed. Maggie, therapists, must uncover what to do next this was thrilling, I love a good therapist trope. I would highly recommend! I was not able to guess the twist!
Thank you Netgalley for the ARC of this book. This was a good suspenseful read. The story was kept fast paced by multiple POVs. The secrets revealed kept me on my toes mad wanting more after each chapter.
I received a complimentary copy of this book "For The Last Time" and all opinions expressed are my own. Overall good. I definitely wanted to know what was going to happen so it kept my interest. Not sure I liked the ending. What I really want to know is where is that necklace?
I really enjoyed this book. It was different than anything else I've read recently. I couldn't put it down! I will keep an eye out for this author's future work!
I struggled with this one. I have been a Heidi Perks fan for a few years. I was disappointed and I’ll leave it at that.
A secret filled and mysterious plot to keep you reading. It was definitely a hard one to solve because there were so many secrets.
I quickly ate up the pages of this physiological thriller and it was a good book with alot of suspense and it was a good twisty thriller. I liked the Dual POV between Maggie and Erin. It was a good book and very entertaining.
I just reviewed For the Last Time by Heidi Perks. #FortheLastTime #NetGalley

Thank you to NetGalley, Heidi Perks and Crooked Lane Books for the free ebook in exchange for an honest review.
This was a quick and easy read, but unfortunately one that was easy to forget. I enjoyed the twists and did not seem them coming, also liked hating most of the characters while wondering which one is lying.
Thank you Crooked Lane for the ARC. I am obsessed with thrillers that have FMCs who are psychologists... Especially when their patients are a lil (a lot) suss. Great premise. Very much a popcorn thriller.
First book I've read by Heidi Perks and it won't be my last. The author drew me in right from the first page and left me wide-eyed and reading when I should have been sleeping! I enjoyed the dual point of view of Erin and Maggie. You don't want to miss this one! A huge thank you to Crooked Lane Books and to NetGalley for this ARC.
Well written with a compelling story line and twists and turns that blew me away. They kept me guessing and I didn't see the final twist coming and wow what a twist
Will and Erin are having issues with their marriage. Mostly Maggie. She’s seeing things, feeling things, and remembering things that Will says didn’t happen. Is he trying to drive her crazy? They go to see Maggie, a therapist. Maggie still struggles with the murder of her sister from years ago. When Erin casually mentions something about Maggie’s sister that she shouldn’t possibly know, Maggie becomes obsessed.
A great story, but maybe TOO neatly tied up at the end. Definitely for fans of psychological thrillers!
For the Last Time was a plot I didn’t see coming. Wow! What a turn of events. Heidi Perks is a standout at luring readers to think one thing and then reeling them in a completely different direction just in time.
For the Last Time is a thrilling ride through relationships, past transgressions, and a lot of gaslighting.
3.5/5 ⭐️
Erin and Will have decided to go to counseling to try to repair their relationship. Erin feels like something is off, but Will claims he has no idea what she is talking about. Maggie, their counselor, is trying to help but things get complicated when Erin mentions something connected with the murder of Maggie’s sister years ago. Maggie finds herself drawn in to finding out the truth.
This one was an interesting juxtaposition of easy to read but also slow at times (plot wise). Early on, I felt like Perks did a good job drawing me in with the suspense. The middle was a lot slower on this front, but then last ¼ picked back up again. There weren’t any wild twists or turns (not a knock). I will say it takes a while for the sister connection to kick in so stick with it if you’re wondering when that comes up!
I received my copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Author: Heidi Parks
I requested a digital advanced readers copy from NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books and providing my opinion voluntarily and unbiased.
Synopsis: When Erin and Will walk into Maggie’s office for a marriage counseling session, Maggie believes they are an ordinary couple with ordinary communication, intimacy, the usual. But as Maggie struggles to get the couple to open up about what brought them here, she begins to sense that not all is as it seems.
When Erin mentions something connected to Maggie’s past that she couldn’t possibly know, Maggie is disturbed and confused. Why does Erin know anything about Maggie’s long-missing sister? Erin is connected to her somehow, and Maggie is no longer trying to fix the couple’s marriage–she’s trying to uncover her own truth. Maggie knows her code of ethics as a therapist should immediately stop her working with this couple, but she’s desperate for answers about her sister’s disappearance, and she can’t resist using her position to delve deeper into Erin’s memories and what she might know. Erin and Will might not be what they seem–but neither is Maggie.
My Thoughts: This book opens with a BANG, pulls you in and takes you along a ride that you must know what happens. This is the first time I have read Parks books and it will NOT be my last. The lies, secrets, betrayals, tension, pacing, and unique plot just puts this thriller ahead of the rest. Just six months ago, they had the perfect happy family, or so it appeared. It starts with a flinch when Will touches Erin, and then Will does the unthinkable, he looses her dog, Coco. A downward spiral of their relationship begins and to save their family, they embark on marriage counseling. Maggie thinks this is a classic case of a far-reaching mother in law and son that won’t stand up for his wife. Both Erin and Maggie have trauma in their past and when Erin starts to provide details of her trauma that overlaps with Maggie’s trauma, Maggie has stepped out of role of counselor and into role of fact finding. Maggie knows she is bound by ethics to turn this over to a different therapist that is not connected, but she has to find the answers. There is not a lot out there on the trope of marriage counseling as the set up, it so unpredictably plays perfect in this psychological thriller.
The story is narrated starting six months ago and present until they line up perfectly, in the POV of Erin and Maggie. The dual perspectives in a thriller is a unique occurrence and coupled with this unique plot really does elevate this book to another level. The story opens up with an accident and then works itself backwards. What has happened to make Erin so distrustful. Does Will have a dark side? And Maggie, when she crosses from counselor to investigator, how does that blur the lines? As our characters present, none of them are likable and unreliable, at best. There were some plot holes with unanswered questions and character’s backstories, behaviors, and reasoning, that did not quite match up. I think the characters could have been explored in a more believable way would have turned the book a little more. Having said this, this is still a popcorn turning book and it will keep you entertained. The author’s write style was twisty, suspenseful, had great pace, and appropriate tension.
This was dark, disturbing, captivating, gripping, captures you, and pulls you into the pages as you look at the next twisty bend. If you loved, The Golden Couple, you will love this one, same premise, different scenario. The chapters are short and leave wanting to do “just one more chapter.” Overall, I enjoyed this book and would recommend to other readers.
