My review is not as enthusiastic as everyone seems to be on Goodreads but I must be honest, poetry is a very hit or miss for me. I can either feel the deepest of emotions or just be raising my eyebrows throughout the entire thing. This one didn't make me feel anything, however, I did get an understanding of what the poet was attempting to say through their poems. I also really liked the illustrations, they were so lovely and added to the experience of this collection. I guess it's a 3.5 stars for me (?)

Thanks for the copy from Netgalley but to be honest I did not like these.. poems that they were supposed to be as much as I would have liked. The cover, the description and the title got my expectations piqued up but then I was rather surprised, and not in a good way.

This is a lovely and powerful book of poetry that works well with the themes of love without being too belabored. Much of poetry is love based, but this book is gentle and doesn't trod over previous love poetry.

I read the ebook for this alongside the audiobook on spotify, and I think the audio reading enhanced my dislike of this collection of poetry.

On the audiobook:
The reading was quite breathy and strange, and at times battled the background music which was quite loud.

On the poems:
I like the notifs and the themes, but I don’t feel the collection was executed properly - the poems were ultimately repetitive and so failed to convey any depth of emotion from the writer or within the themes.

Overall, the idea of a poetry collection with an accompanying audiobook was interesting, but it didn’t work in this particular case.

The idea behind the collection is very interesting but, unfortunately, i did not find it particularly enjoyable due to the chosen poetry style: indeed, i deemed the verses pretty juvenile and. I feel like this approach would’ve been perfect for a “puppy love” type of theme, instead, in this case, though, it absolutely does not match the more adult discussions of love that this collection aims to expose.
Still, I found it a quick and fun read, especially paired with the audiobook experience.

As someone who is starting to get into poetry this was good.
I feel like this was a good collection of work, but I wanted more in-depth poems. Some of these felt very repetitive and bland, but others I was like “ooo yes yes and yes love!”
I don’t think I would say this is my favorite poetry collection ever but I did enjoy it!

It has exactly what it says on the tin. Poems about being in love, talking about what love is, what they want their love to do or express etc.

Lovely collection that I enjoyed reading. Would have loved a mixture of both short and long poems but stunning nonetheless :)
