This is a fun interactive book to read aloud with kids. On each page of the pencil-drawn illustrations, we see traces of dragons throughout the house— but the narrator insists there are no dragons here!
Children will squeal as they spot dragon parts while being told there are no dragons. Of course, eventually we get the big reveal and even get to shake the book to help some of the dragons come out. This one will definitely be a hit!
A very sweet playful story! As you narrate the kids can have oodles of fun seeing the hidden dragons all over the pages! Something classic, simple, and fun to focus on!
This was a whimsical, quirky, and cute picture book where you’re trying to spot the dragon. I think kids would enjoy this interactive story. It’s funny and lighthearted. The concept of the story was interesting and flowed well. However, the illustrations were a bit lackluster for me. They were cute but looked amateur. Honestly, I enjoyed the story more than the artwork, but it was still a fun, quick read.
Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this advanced copy in exchange for an honest review. These are my own thoughts and opinions.

This will be a fun and engaging read aloud! Children are sure to enjoy looking for signs of a dragon. Beautiful illustrations also!
A fun, easy to read & follow along with picture book that will have children squealing with joy as they spot the dragon that isn't there.
This is the cutest book! It's told in the voice of a dragon, and you wonder if there will be one in the book. The illustrations are so sweet. This would be a great read aloud or bedtime story for a child.
I loved trying to see the dragons on each page. This reminded me of exactly the way a kid would try and hide something and pretend they weren't.
What a clever and interest stimulating title.
My Grandson adores similar books. For example Tom Fletcher’s series There’s an Alien in your book et al.
Well, There are no Dragons in this Book, takes this to a whole new level. Quite original in its story-telling; certain to intrigue and inspire your children’s minds and conversation.
I think the secret to a great children’s book is a simple theme, that progresses with the story and containing memorable words or “catchphrases”.
Many are confusing with over cluttered text and cumbersome illustrations. Not here. This I am told is this author’s debut in this format. The text is bright and straight forward and her illustrator has captured her words beautifully with carefree and original artwork.
I love this book and my Grandson’s approval was a given.
It is a delight and a wonderful addition to any serious children’s library. There is a sense of organised chaos as the pictures help tell this story but the story is about restoring order so this makes for a fitting conclusion.
A cute interactive picture book with hidden pictures of dragons. The illustrations weren’t my favorite. I thought at first maybe kids helped contribute by drawing them, but then saw it was an illustrator. Kids might enjoy them though!
This is fun to find the parts of the dragon throughout, but I felt that the illustrations were very dark and didn't bring about the fun that could have been there.
Thanks NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC.
This is a cute, playful book that is perfect for young fans of Dragons Love Tacos. Kid readers have fun finding the hiding dragon on each page as the voice of the dragon narrates this interactive story. I like how the book itself is part of the story- turned on its side and give a good shake to release creatures from the binding edge. The art is OK and the conversational text is engaging.
There are no dragons in this book … or are there?
There Are No Dragons in this Book is an adorable picture book that absolutely, positively, under no circumstances has any dragons in it. I mean, take a look … do you see any dragons? Sure, there might be something with very large toenails hiding behind that bench, but it's almost certainly the cat. And it was definitely not a dragon who made that huge hole in the wall, either.
The drawings in this book are super cute and you might find something that is absolutely not a dragon hiding in each one. The colors are mostly pastels with lots of soothing peach and blue.
The text is fairly simple, geared toward the preschool or early elementary ages. The youngest readers might not be able to read it unassisted, but there aren't any particularly difficult words – “attention” and “sparkling” are as about as big as they get.
The book is interactive at one point, encouraging the reader to shake and jiggle it to release some scaly surprises from its pages. By the end of the story, will it be necessary to change its title?
If you have a young dragon lover in your life, There Are No Dragons in this Book will almost certainly be a hit. As long as they don't actually expect dragons, that is … because there are definitely not any dragons in this book!
Many thanks to NetGalley and NorthSouth Books for providing me with an advance copy of this book to review.
Super cute story and artwork made with colored pencils and shows all the traits of the art that our students and children often do when it comes to space and depth representation. It's sweet, cozy and fabulous. I love the double pages filled with details, searching for the dragon parts in all pages, and the shaking of the book to bring more surprises forward. Very clever and uplifting.
Thank you NetGalley and publisher for this e-ARC.
This was so cute! With an unexpected "twist". I loved the illustrations. They are done in such a way that has a child like feel, perfect for young children. Reminds me a lot of Dragons Love Tacos & we love that book here. Definitely will be enjoyed by kids ages 4-6 or 7
The title of this book is what intrigued the most and it lived up to its curiosity and mystery! This book could be a great help to teach children about the ideas of inclusivity and sharing. The illustrations are solidly done with realistic and equally imaginative descriptions. Thank you for giving me a chance to read early!
What a silly, funny, cute book this is - full of plausible deniability! Because clearly there are no Dragons to be seen anywhere...
...aside from the occasional claw, which probably belongs to a big cat...
...or that tiny crack in the wall, which was probably the result of a minor domestic accident...
...or a spark every now and then, which is probably just lingering remnant in the fireplace...
Because there are NO Dragons here.
NONE AT ALL. 😉
