There are No Dragons in This Book by Donna Lambo-Weidner is a cute, interactive picture book ideally suited for a pre-school audience. Young children will love the simple, muted illustrations, and having the opportunity to shake any hiding dragons from the pages of the story. Recommended for ages 2-5
Many thanks to NetGalley and NorthSouth Books for an ARC.
I would actually not recommend this book. I didn't like it. More than that, something about it rubbed me the wrong way. I definitely wouldn't read it to a child.
It's trying to be a "There are no monsters in this book" sort of book but it comes off as a really weird knockoff.
The text itself is all right. It doesn't always make sense but it could have been a cute if forgettable book.
But the illustrations... they're just weird. They're colored pencil child's drawing style illustrations, with really weird perspective and an odd purple-and-orange-heavy color scheme. But what really bothers me are the expressions. All of the people in the illustrations are making bizzare angry expressions. They are very much not cute and don't fit the text at all. It's very off-putting.
This book needed a different illustrator.

Thank you so much to NorthSouth Books and Netgalley for the ebook to read and review.
There are no dragons in this book, absolutely not, so when you see claws, giant holes or fire, there are no dragons in this book. You may have to shake it and search everywhere, but there are no dragons in this book.
This was such a funny and whimsical book that from the start children are going to love reading, you get so into the story right away, you are told there aren’t any dragons so you are searching and children will love the search for the dragon.
I really enjoyed the way it was written, the hand drawn illustrations were cute and I loved the variety of children shown within the book, I liked how interactive it is for young ones, there is so much to do and see within this book that they’ll have a lot of fun reading and following it along.
I really enjoyed reading this book and I really think many others will too, it’s amusing, it whimsical, it very unique and it so interactive.
What a delightful and engaging book for children or adults! The illustrations are lively and colorful and the interactive elements of motion and surprise are sure to capture the youngest of readers. Highly recommended for parents, care-givers, teachers and adults who enjoy great picture books. Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.
Looking for a delightful new children's book, look no further! There Are No Dragons in This Book will have early readers curious with the lovely illustrations and playful language. A great read aloud yet attainable for early readers.
Thank you to NetGalley and NorthSouth books for providing me with an early copy of this book.
This is a cute interactive book about a dragon hiding in this house but there isn’t a dragon is there. I really like that some of the back turn around and that you have to shake the book to get the rest of the dragons out of the rip in the book.
Thanks to North South Books and Netgalley for the complimentary copy of this book. All opinions in this review are my own.
This book was so cute and adorable. The illustrations were vibrant and colorful. I will definitely recommend this book to my students and my children. Lovely book.
Thank you NorthSouth Books and NetGalley for the advanced electronic review copy of this adorable book. It was so much fun to read and try to spot different parts of a dragon in this colourful, playful book. Definitely recommend it and am looking forward to sharing it with my students.
This was cute
Quick story about not dragons and the apartment one lives in
The illustrations are very soft and cozy
I love the simplicity and cuteness in this book. The interactive sections put a smile on my face. Beautiful illustrations, a great fun book for younger readers, but I'd recommend it to everyone!

There are No Dragons in This Book is super cute!! I read it with my two-year old and wasn’t sure what to expect going into it based on the title. We were pleasantly surprised when it turned into a bit more of an interactive book requiring jiggling and shaking.
The written words were fairly simple and aimed towards a younger audience (I think preschool age), and the illustrations were well done, but I couldn’t help but think a lot of the character illustrations looked pretty angry / had angry expressions for a young kids book.
Overall fun book I would rec and read with my daughter again. Thanks for the opportunity to read and review on NetGalley!
My youngest grandaughter and I really enjoyed this colourful story book. The illustrations are a delight and although written for a younger age group, we did enjoy the simple story.
There are no dragons in this Book
Loved the over all idea of the book. The Hide and go seek aspect of book definitely made it fun. I enjoyed trying to find the dragon on each page. I liked the flow of the words on the page and think it would be great read-aloud For ages 6 & under. Personally the illustrations fell a little flat and unfinished, maybe because I was expecting a bolder colors and outlines, but it did feel unique and fitting to the story style.
Well I might have spotted one or two dragons in the book :) Wonderful read, I specifically liked the effect where dragons spill into the book, such a nice detail!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I read this to my 9 year old and it was a little too young for age. Age recommendation would be ages 2-5. The book was really cute and had some interactive parts!
That was so stinking cute!! Loved the story! Perfect for reading to a group of little ones! The illustrations were cute but more muted than I expected.
A sweet interactive children's book about there definitely not being a dragon in the book. The artwork is cute and the overall book is fun and I would definitely recommend it for young kids!
*Thanks Netgalley and NorthSouth Books Inc., NorthSouth Books for sending me an arc in exchange for an honest review*
There are No Dragons in This Book is super fun! I enjoyed the illustrations and glimpses of a dragon that was DEFINITELY not there...This would be great to read with younger kids who will play into the obviously hiding dragon throughout the story and enjoy the interactive section!

Thank you Netgalley and NorthSouth Books for an ARC of this book!
This book is so fun! As I read it, I could immediately imagine reading it to my kindergarten class and how engaged they would be listening to it. The illustrations really added to the story and would give kids great practice in really looking at illustrations to help understand a story. I loved how interactive the book was at times as well. I would highly recommend this book to students and teachers for their classroom and I hope to add this to my classroom library when it comes out!
Stars: 3.5
This odd little story supersedes my imagination. The illustrations are sketch-like with a muted color palette. I actually read the story, looked at the pages, and reread the synopsis. Going back I was able to pick up hidden things and graphics were clearer in my head.
I think this would be good for a group of boys into monsters, poop, and toenails. With the right person (not me) imaginations could be stretched and fun had. This is not an old child book. It is meant to be interactive.
I would gift this.
