Hooked on Hollywood is a love story about Olivia, a small town girl and a movie star Ryan.
Olivia has been healing from a breakup with a cheating ex and Ryan came to his hometown for a PR rescue after a scandal on set.
They get handcuffed together on a theme benefit event and then spent a whole week like that. At first there's a lot of animosity between the two, but as they spend every waking second with each other, they realise they were made for each other.
Olivia and Ryan know each other since they were children and went to sock hop together. They relieve their connection and pretend to be lovers for a little bit, for the sake of Ryan's PR rehab and so the press doesn't find out about the handcuffs situation.

This is a great, soft, closed-door romance and we only get a little kiss at the end.
However, I feel like the main characters didn't have as much chemistry as I would like and I got kind of a friend vibes, but otherwise okay.

This is my first book of Mia Summers and I enjoy it! Every time I have reading slump, I always look for light reading and this fits the bill. The trope of childhood crush/friends is one of my favorite and fake relationship is the best one indeed. Looking forward to read more of Mia Summers.

Imagine getting trapped on a date and having to be handcuffed the whole time.

Olivia and Ryan's love story is quite strange but one a lot will love! Ryan is a famous actor who gets himself into a bit of trouble. Olivia is a small-town girl that's recovering from a bad breakup. Olivia and Ryan met when they were younger. (Invisible strings much)

They have to spend five days handcuffed to one another, so of course they fall for one another.

I loved the way they fell for one another!

Thankyou to NetGalley for this book!

This is your typical new adult novel, which includes tropes such as forced proximity and fake dating. Olivia, the main character, has recently gone back to her hometown after her ex cheated on her and stole from her. She works as a waitress and thinks her life is pretty much over even though she's only twenty-four. Ryan is a Hollywood actor who grew up in Olivia's hometown (which makes it his hometown) and is going back for a charity event to help save the old theater. They'd shared a special moment when they were in fourth grade, I think, and since Ryan became a famous actor, Olivia had followed his career rather obsessively. We do know where this is going, right?

This was a short, quick read, and the stakes weren't high at all, which meant that I was reading this purely for entertainment. I don't think this is the kind of book anyone remembers afterwards, even if it is a part of a stand-alone series. There were some inconsistencies in terms of plot continuity, but I don't think it was major, just something that readers might notice and point out. It was absurd at times, to the point of being sort of ridiculous, but again, I knew what I was getting into with this type of novel and wasn't bothered by that.

This book would be a great rom-com movie. It has that old classic rom-com vibe about it that I love, though in a book not as much... even though I enjoyed this book, I felt that the story was a bit rushed and there wasn't much depth to it. Besides, at the end, when Olivia finds out what really happened with Andre she immediately forgives Ryan for his accusations and I feel like she shouldn't because he was really unfair with her, even if he had a bit of trust issues. Damn, I have trust issues, and I'm not like that... especially if I spend 3 FULL days with a person!

I accidentally read these in the reverse order.
But I don't feel like that matters since they all kind of happen at the same time.
Some of the elements are different, but they're mostly the same.
A young woman who has been cheated on and seems to hate rich people is stuck with a rich actor for 3 days to two weeks and they inexplicably fall in love despite the woman's disdain for everything the man is.
Crossed wires, usually around paparazzi and a big mea culpa lead to a happy ending.
I feel like a confrontation between Olivia and Taylor, and the retrieval of her phone would have been good to see here.
Despite the formulaic nature of these books, they are individually good reads you can finish in a day.
The romantic elements are cute and they are all closed door which I can take or leave if the plot is good.
I received a copy via NetGalley and all opinions are my own.

This is my first Mia Summers book, I received it through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. In this closed door, forced proximity romance, we find our MC Olivia back in her small hometown after catching her fiance cheating with her maid of honor in LA. She's trying to figure out where to go next with her life while her friends are plotting to cheer her up. She ends up on a date with her celebrity crush in handcuffs that they can't seem to get out of. For the next five days, Olivia and Ryan are handcuffed together and things get pretty interesting!

The spice level of this book is on par with a Hallmark channel production but equally as sweet. The story is well written and my favorite part of the book was the author describing flavors. It's giving "foodie". The small town girl meets rich Hollywood movie star is always a cute trope but I appreciate the picture the author paints of the small seaside town and the depth of the characters in the story.

This is a great, sweet romance and I will definitely read the other books in this series.

I have to admit, I wasn’t a huge fan of this one. The writing wasn’t bad, I just didn’t connect with the story or characters at all and their entire relationship didn’t feel romantic to me. The FMC is super judgmental and kind of a jerk. There was decent banter, but it didn’t make up for the premise being pretty unbelievable and strange.

Fairly predictable rom com but it was still a good read that I enjoyed it. It was also a quick read.

I think this was such a cute closed door romance ! I really liked the concept of the book and the characters in it. I just didn’t love how it was a time span of only 3 days. Still super cute tho !!

This was my first Mia Summers book and I'm looking forward to reading more. Ryan is a hot actor back in his hometown and gets stuck in a sticky situating with an old friend. I love that Ryan is a down to earth loveable guy and not your average actor type. Olivia is just adorable. Period. This book gave me the warm & fuzzies, highly recommend!

HOOKED ON HOLLYWOOD By Mia Summers

Olivia Bloom just won the jackpot: a dinner date with her former childhood crush and now Hollywood hunk Ryan Jones. The only problem? She hates him. And those handcuffs that were supposed to be “just for show” aren’t coming off.
After discovering her fiancé’s affair, Olivia retreats to her small hometown and swears off anything to do with love. Unfortunately, her well-meaning friends have just the plan to pull Olivia out of her funk – they’ll pool their money at a silent auction and win the big prize: a one-on-one date with Olivia’s celebrity crush, Hollywood heartthrob Ryan Jones.
Charming leading man Ryan Jones credits his love of acting to his childhood community theater teacher. When he hears that the theater might close, he volunteers to be auctioned off for a dinner date, where he’ll be handcuffed to the winner. The last person he expects to win the bid is the one girl he never forgot.
The date goes poorly – ever since a terrible video of Ryan went viral, Olivia can’t see him as anything other than an egotistical jerk.

I really liked this book! I thought the main story line might have been a little cheesy, but it was well written that the story turned out really cute! I would recommend this book for anyone looking for sweet and funny romantic comedy to read!

I enjoyed the dual POV as well as the writing style. It isn't always the case that a character's voice comes across authentic but these characters did. If you're in the mood for a fake relationship/forced proximity read with weddings and romance this was a well written entertaining story.

Thank you to the publisher for providing a copy for me to read and review!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher/author for a copy of this book!

I started with a Christmas novella from Mia Summers and I've been hooked on her stories ever since. Hooked on Hollywood had the same Hallmark story feel and I really enjoyed it. I look forward to reading the rest of her books soon! 4 star rating because the ending felt rushed but otherwise I loved it!

Great cozy romance book.

The characters were great.

I like the subtle ways Ryan gave back, not the over dramatic self indulgent acts of ‘giving back’

This was a difficult for met to get through this book. While the writing is good and the story cute. I cannot get over how they ended up in their forced prox situation. Olivia (FMC) and Ryan (MMC) were put in handcuffs as a surprise part of the dinner that Olivia’s friends gifted her from a charity auction. However the issue is that the handcuffs keys don’t seem to be universal and is lost. The bolt cutters and angle grinder they tried doesn’t work on this titanium alloy made handcuffs. They are stuck like this for 5 days before a new special key can be made. I cannot get over the fact that they did not go to the fire station or the police department, they would have the tools to get them out. For Heavan’s sake they would have to have tools to cut people out of cars and other metal objects!! I looked over this but as I kept reading the thought of why didn’t seek professional help they kept getting to me. I understand it’s a fictional book but I cant help to be a little annoyed at the lack of common sense.

I liked the initial idea and thought it would be a nice enough fluffy piece for escapism purposes. However it didn't hold my interest so that's a miss for me, sadly.

🍦📸From sock hop to joined at the wrist: cute, sweet romance

I liked movie star Ryan and small town girl Olivia and their chance to get to know each other as adults, after a fleeting connection at a fourth grade sock hop, when Ryan visits their California hometown for a charity event. It's a cute story, not exactly believable but a nice, easy read.

The predicament that traps them together 24X7 for days on end gave the author a good chance to invent sticky situations that the couple resolved with increasing ease. But it was hard to buy that none of the press or public twigged to their cuffed status earlier than they did.

I found the timelines sort of confusing. Olivia is 24 and presumably Ryan is the same age or just a year or two older (or why would they both be at the same 4th grade sock hop?) yet he's had his agent for ten years?! Seemed odd, as did their ability to organize a huge event in like 24 hours and, for instance, make dessert for @ 1500 people in a home kitchen in an afternoon?

But a breezy romance does not require realism and this one worked. I think I'll read more by this author.

Thanks to publishers Sterling & Stone and NetGalley for sharing a complimentary advance copy of the novel; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.

3.4 rounded down to 3/5

"Hooked on Hollywood" by Mia Summers is a delightful read, particularly suitable for fans of Hallmark movies. The plot follows Olivia Bloom, who wins a dinner date with her childhood crush and Hollywood star, Ryan Jones. The catch is that they end up handcuffed together, facing the challenge of being stuck with each other for five days.

Positive aspects include good banter between the main characters, making it an easy and quick read. The use of tropes like forced proximity, childhood crush, and a he-fell-first dynamic adds to the charm. The book is very descriptive, particularly in capturing the details of the food. This is a quick and easy read with good banter between Ryan and Olivia.

The plot is somewhat predictable, and I wish there was more character background. I would have liked to learn some more history about Ryan, especially his relationship with Lydia and why he was sent to live with his grandparents. The side character plotlines, which seem to set up future books, are not particularly relevant to this specific story. There were some plot inconsistencies, such as was Olivia a cop or a robber for the fundraiser? She was described at times to be both.

In summary, "Hooked on Hollywood" is a cute and easy read with charming banter and engaging tropes, but some areas, such as character background and the relevance of side plots, could be further developed.
