Absolutely loved the banter in this and the transition. The angst was perfectly constructed especially coming from the other books and seeing their relationship dynamic from the outside. The build up was spot on.

3.75 rounded to 4 stars- I liked this!

Thank you Netgalley and Meghan Quinn for the #ARC in return for an honest review!

What did I enjoy?
đź’śusually friends to lovers is not my favorite but this was so cute! I loved Breaker: he was such a cute guy. Lia was quirky and funny. I think the characters blended well but Breaker carried the book.... he gets most of the credit.
đź’śsweet, very funny, and the banter was perfect
đź’śspicy scenes
đź’śslow burn
đź’śforced proximity

So what did not work out?
đź‘ľLia was so insecure and needy... why does Breaker have to solve and do everything for you? Too immature does not equal cute. I feel like I almost did not want her to end up with Breaker if she did not get it together.
đź‘ľI can only read so much about a mustache
đź‘ľthis could have been shorter
đź‘ľthe weird moments where all the girls would hang and talk.... wont say more details because I do not want to spoil anything but CMON.

This is the third book in the Cane Brothers's series and can be read as a stand-alone. I've read the first and third and, while I'll go back and read the second, I don't feel that I missed anything in this one by not having read it. It's a friend to lovers romance. Lia and Breaker have been best friends since college. Lia's getting married and Breaker's going to be her man-of-honor and is running interference with her soon to be mother-in-law. I loved how the story played out. The flashbacks to the past added to the story and I loved the slow burn romance. I enjoyed it- I recommend the series.

Thanks to the publisher for sharing a copy. All opinions are my own.

Quinn does it again! I love this series and would be I'd read this authors grocery list if she published one. I always connect on some level with the characters and care about their lives

I love this series so much. I was so excited to finally get to Breaker's book. I do not know if I can pick a favorite put of this trilogy. Breaker is such a sweetheart and so protective. Lia is so sweet and funny. The story was so good and spicy. I love how the author writes. They always pull me into the story and I get so invested in the characters. Thank you to NetGalley and SOURCEBOOKS Bloom Books for the arc in exchange for my honest review.

Meghan Quinn’s *A Long Time Coming* is a charming and humorous exploration of friendship, love, and the chaos that often accompanies wedding preparations. This delightful rom-com is filled with wit, heart, and the classic trope of falling for one’s best friend, making it an engaging read for fans of light-hearted romance.

The story revolves around Breaker Cane, who is thrust into the unconventional role of "man-in-waiting" for his best friend Lia Fairweather-Fern’s wedding. Tasked with the mission of managing the overbearing soon-to-be mother-in-law, Mrs. Beaver, Breaker takes on the challenge with a mix of reluctance and dedication. However, as he navigates the tumultuous wedding preparations, Breaker finds himself increasingly drawn to Lia in ways he hadn’t anticipated.

Quinn masterfully captures the evolution of Breaker’s feelings for Lia. The transition from platonic affection to romantic interest is handled with nuance and realism, creating a believable and relatable emotional journey. Breaker’s internal conflict and growing awareness of his love for Lia are portrayed with humour and sensitivity, making his character both endearing and sympathetic.

Lia Fairweather-Fern is a well-rounded character who adds depth to the story. Her interactions with Breaker are filled with chemistry and playful banter, and her vulnerability as she navigates the pressures of wedding planning and an overbearing fiancé adds an emotional layer to the narrative. Quinn’s portrayal of Lia’s character development, particularly her realisation of Breaker’s feelings and her own true desires, is compelling and satisfying.

The novel’s humour is a standout feature, with Quinn’s signature wit shining through in the dialogue and situations. The dynamic between Breaker and Mrs. Beaver provides plenty of laugh-out-loud moments, while the escalating tension between Breaker and Lia adds a delightful blend of comedy and romance.

*A Long Time Coming* is a delightful and engaging rom-com that expertly combines humour, romance, and emotional depth. Quinn’s well-drawn characters and witty writing style make this novel a must-read for fans of the genre. Whether you’re looking for a laugh-out-loud escape or a touching love story, this book delivers on all fronts.

Yeah, not many have, Breaker Cane included. But his best friend, Lia Fairweather-Fern, can't get married without some extra help. That's why she's recruited him to take on the snarling beast that's her soon-to-be monster-in-law, Mrs. Beaver. For some reason, the groom's mother seems to have never heard the phrase, "What the bride wants, the bride gets." Lucky for Lia, Breaker has, and he accepts the challenge. After all, how much trouble can one woman cause?

The problem is, it isn't Mrs. Beaver giving Breaker the most grief—it's actually Lia. Because with every second her wedding draws closer, he's starting to see her in a different light. She's always been beautiful, but now, he finds himself staring a touch too long, his hand lingering for one more minute, and when she's upset? Allowing her to sleep in his bed.

Before he knows it, it hits him like a ton of bricks: he's fallen in love with his best friend.

Nothing is snapping him out of it. Not the girl he tries to date during the wedding planning. Not Lia's increasingly suspicious fiancé. Not even the looming deadline of her upcoming nuptials.
Which means there's only one thing left to do: prove to Lia he's the one she should be with instead.
And it's going to be a lot harder than he thinks.

Meghan Quinn knows how to write an angsty and I loved every single moment of it. This is book three in the Cane Brothers series. The characters are so easy to read and the story was east to follow.

Thanks to NetGalley and Bloom Books for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

I really liked the first book but had to force myself to read the second and third. This one I couldnt even finish. I hate how insecure Lia was and how she acted around breaker while she was engaged. Yes guys and girls can be best friends but sleeping in the same bed and begging your best friend to cuddle you while you’re engaged is not right. I hated her for the way she acted, breaker deserved better. She felt very childish at multiple points needing her best friend to stand up to her future mother in law on her behalf

Super cute and I loved that I didn’t have to wait THE WHOLE BOOK for the MC’s to come to their senses. I was so worried this book was going to be super heavy on the miscommunication trope but it honestly wasn’t at all. There was the perfect mix of comedic relief, I found myself laughing so many times. I do think the novel was a tiny, tiny bit long and drawn out. Lots of fluff and filler, but still super cute and relevant to the story of course. Overall, great romcom. Geeky fmc/mmc, billionaire trope, best friends to lovers.

This book is EVERYTHING. I loved every single second and that is not an exaggeration. It’s adorably sweet, hilariously funny, achingly romantic, and it squeezed and tugged at my heart strings in that pleasurable, painful way I adore. I loved Breaker and Lia so much and loved the way the Meghan Quinn showcased a beautiful love and friendship with her quintessential magical touch. I laughed, I weeped like a baby and could not stop rooting for this fantastic couple. With her signature wit, irresistible banter and two characters you just can’t help but love, Meghan Quinn has once again delighted me with a story that’s wonderfully quirky and charming.

I couldn’t get into the story just as I thought. Not disappointed but need more depth, I think. I can't remember when was the last time when I read a book in which the whole plot was 100% equal to what was written in the blurb and nothing more. There was no surprise there, no resolution to any of the plot threads and the whole story was blatantly predictable and painfully dull.

Not as good as the first book in the series, however, I did have a lot of fun reading this. Breaker is a cool younger brother and dare I say, the sexiest of the three. I did not like Lia that much, since she seemed to be pretty indecisive and flighty at times during the story. It took me out of the story a couple of times honestly. A solid read though, nothing to write home about.

This was an absolute gorgeous read with the ultimate friends to lovers romance. I adored Breaker and Lia from the very first chapter, they are so perfect for each other and I loved that they both had nerdy personalities - I need that more in books! I read this book in the space of 24 hours, which is pretty typical for me when it comes to a Meghan book and couldn't put it down. Despite the circumstances, I really enjoyed the wedding planning scenes as it gave us an in as to how Breaker and Lia's wedding would be if life was different and I LOVED the scene in which Breaker finally realised he was in love with his best friend - swoon worthy!! A beautiful couple who truly were meant to be. I really enjoyed also being reunited with the other Cane brothers and their wives - Meghan does a fantastic job of featuring so many of her other book characters within her stories and I love it!

Ich weiß ehrlich gesagt nicht, wie ich dieses Buch bewerten soll, da ich es aufgrund relativ kurzer Ausleihdauer (ohne Verlängerung) nicht lesen konnte.

Meghan Quinn is back at it again! A Long Time Coming reads a lot like My Best Friend's Wedding, and I adore that she takes movies and turns them into another cute love story. The characters are easy to read, enjoyable, and fun.
