I don’t want to give this book a rating because it isn’t not that it’s a bad book, it just comes down to taste. Something about the relationship dynamics in this book just gave me the ick. But just because I didn’t enjoy doesn’t mean that someone else wouldn’t! I usually love Meghan Quinn books so this is for sure just a fluke!

What was a long time coming? The climax of this book. There was so much lead up that this was a major slow burn for me. I really enjoyed the builidng of the main characters' relationship, so often in a best friend's romance, I feel the relationship relies too heavily on their past and that was not the case here. However, I felt it leaned into this a bit too much and could have progressed a little faster. Once the spice was spicin' it did not stop though!

This book was funny, relatable, and overall a good read. However, I would not read it again as the first 60% was a bit slow for my taste. I also did not enjoy how much texting was involved in this book. There were so many text conversations it got a bit repetitive to me. They served as a way to understand the characters motivations better, but that part fell flat for me.

If you like slow burn, friends to lovers, strong friendships, humor, and spice you will likly enjoy this book!

What a great book! Perfect for people who loved the movie My Best Friend's wedding! Breaker is oh-so-relatable, and gorgeous! Lia is endearing.

Thank you, Netgalley for the ARC!

Meghan Quinn has written another extremely steamy & swoon worthy rom-com that easily grabs the reader’s attention and is full of laugh out loud moments! The Cane Brothers make an appearance together once again with this story focused on the youngest brother, Breaker Cane.

I have read each book in The Cane Brothers series and I love them all so much. Still, out of all three books this is my absolute favorite. I love how Breaker is so supportive, protective and in love with Lia. He cares for her in so many ways; in the best ways. He worships and cherishes her. It just takes a while for him to realize he is in love with her.

Breaker & Lia have been best friends for a long time. They share a strong bond as friends and have never considered anything beyond their friendship. They will do anything for each other which includes Breaker taking on the role Man of Honor for Lia’s wedding. Breaker sees where Lia’s fiancée is wrong for her. He also begins to discover he has deeper feelings for his best friend. On the other hand, Lia is confused by her engagement to a man she believes is right for her yet never quite feels the connection. It is Breaker who shows Lia she is worth and deserves more than she is receiving from her fiancé.

I definitely recommend reading this book! Each book in The Cane Brothers series is excellent still I recommend this one highly among all.

This was the first Meghan Quinn book I have ever read and I have to say I really enjoyed it. The characters were believable and I loved how she established a real and deep friendship between Breaker & Lia. This was probably the most realistic friends to lovers I have read (as my husband and I were also best friends before we got together) and I was impressed how as the relationship progressed to something more how on the nose it felt for someone who has been in that situation. I really enjoyed the beginning where Breaker was her “man in waiting”. I really loved his character and how he really was a gentleman of a best friend in the whole situation. That being said, I was not expecting it to go from PG to R hahah. I am not complaining at all but I think because you fall for Breaker being so kind and thoughtful and the switch is like whiplash that it takes you back a bit. Again, it was really good though and both characters had me laughing so much. I will definitely go back and read her first two books when I want a good character story with some spice!

This is the third book of the Cane brothers series.

It started 10 years ago with a college secret scrabble group that turned Lia and Breaker into the best of friends and her pickle! A sweet, fun, steamy romcom that will have you swooning and rofl.
I enjoyed their banter and game nights the most.

I just had to go run and read the 1st two books after being approved by Netgalley for this one, and now I'm a super-fan.

A delectable friends-to-lovers romantic comedy that reminds me so much of My Best Friend’s Wedding, one of my favorite movies.

The nerdy banter between the main characters is wonderful and exactly what I expect from Meghan Quinn and more. The slow build kept me on the edge of my seat and when we got to the moment where things clicked? Off to the races.

Even with the rush of realization the pace and plot does not get lost or carried away. I loved the plotline here where your best friend is getting married with the realization that yall are simply a match made in heaven.

Breaker though. In my opinion, stole the show with how absolutely cheeky and dirty he was at every point. He completely busts through Lia’s barriers like a bull in a china shop. Like everybody else — I was rooting for Lia to open those eyes up like everybody else!

I am thrilled to see Quinn’s novel republished under Bloom Books and on store shelves. Her stories truly shine when I need a soft, sweet and fluffy read between the darker ones.

As always, highly. HIGHLY recommend this author, and this series.

Many, many thanks to Bloom books, Netgalley and Meghan Quinn herself for the eARC!

Funny friends to lovers
The MCs witty geeky banter in the prologue had me invested immediately. Breaker and Lia’s friendship is next level, but when Lia is suddenly on a fast track to marry Brian, Breaker has an epiphany involving a lot of butterflies. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this well-written slow-burn, but steamy lighthearted romance of friends to lovers finally coming together with a little help from the Cane family and friends.

A satisfying friends-to-lovers read by Meghan Quinn. The banter between these nerdy main characters is perfect. The chemistry between the main characters propels the book. So nice to see the youngest Cane brother find his girl even if he was blind for a very long time, and pleasant to see updates on the other Canes and their respective spouses.
Takes a while to get the characters to realize there's more than friendship but once the scales tip to lovers the story rushes to the end.
Highly recommend for a fast weekend HEA.

Meghan Quinn's A Long Time Coming offers a delightful twist on the classic romantic comedy, reminiscent of My Best Friend's Wedding. As the protagonist takes on the role of helping his best friend navigate wedding chaos, the story unfolds with steamy romance, laughter, and undeniable charm. The evolving dynamics between the characters keep readers engaged, blending humor with heartfelt moments. A Long Time Coming is a very enjoyable read and highly recommended!

A very well written friends to lovers story. While I haven’t read the first 2 in this series o didn’t see that as a problem understanding and getting into this one. I am a new fan of the author and will look for more written by her!

So you wake up one day and realize that you're best friend is your partner for life. Except the best friend is getting married.

A lot of conversation, sexiness and slow burn later ends In a happily ever after.

An entertaining romcom.

Delightful!

This romcom is so bright and breezy, and light and silly. It's Breaker Cane and Ophelia - besties since college. Breaker is the third Cane brother to fall, and he has lots of help from Hux and JP. There's nothing angsty, just lots of banter, bits of drama, a fiancé for Lia to be rid of, and ridiculously frank conversations and texts between the group.

It’s a very steamy friends to lovers, and how good are they are together? Breaker is dirty and naughty and cheeky - just delicious, and Lia is confused, sweet and so kind, Breaker charges through all her barriers and insecurities and we are barracking for her to get the message. Most importantly it's full of affection. MQ clearly loves her characters and she is having a tonne of fun with them ;)

If you normally read the dark and serious stuff and want a change of pace, or you just love a romcom, this is an absolute tonic - enjoy enjoy!

Thank you NetGalley, MQ and Bloombooks for this ARC. This is a re-publication.

Meghan Quinn has been a favorite author for a long time. Her Cane brother series is what started it for me. I am so happy they got picked up by a major publisher and even more people will be introduced to Meghan's writing.

Breaker Cane is my favorite. I am a sucker for a good friends to lovers situation and this one was *chefs kiss*. Breaker and Lia have been best friends since a college chess game. Inseparable for years. When Lia surprises Breaker and tells him she's getting married, all of a sudden he's not so alright with the just friends status.

With a persistent future monster-in-law, Lia enlists Breaker to be with her during all the wedding decisions to preserve the wedding she wants. Breaker does not allow her to mow down Lia's ideas, or pressure her into anything she doesn't want. However, as time goes on he realizes more and more that he loves her. But he is the mister of honor. What can he do?

I didn't read the first two books about the other Cane brothers but now I want to go back and do so. I really liked Breaker but there were a few times with Lia that I found her a bit annoying. Overall this was a fun friends to lovers read.

Totally recommend you get the audiobook version.

I need to begin by explaining that I have not read the other Cane books ( A Not So Meet Cute and So Not Meant To Be). I don’t feel like I missed out on anything by reading this one first- it can absolutely be read as a stand-alone novel. That said, characters from both books do play a large part in this book and I ended up falling in love with them. I have already started Huxley’s story and will be reading JP’s as well.

Now then, let’s get started. I loved the friendship between these two, even if it blurred a lot of lines (you let her sleep in your bed in the past and didn’t realize you loved her?). The story of their meeting at the Secret Scrabble Society, with her just being brutal and him taking it with a smile is hilarious. I love Breaker for the fact that, even though he liked her, the second she said she wanted a friend he decided that that was what he’d be. For ten years. To the point that he thought he had given up those feelings. Seriously, I can’t even imagine. Their taco dates, Password marathons and game nights were adorably charming. I loved their interactions.

I also loved that once he finally figured out his feelings, he was still going to let her be with whoever she wanted; was going to be whatever she wanted. The fact that he was still her best man, picking dresses and cakes by her side and shielding her from Brian’s mother was the sweetest thing. Getting advice from his brothers (and some help from the absolute best hype-men ever), he went about trying to show her that they could have everything. Their friendship, the things they enjoyed, didn’t necessarily have to change… just evolve. Tacos might lead to sex now.

This was a fun, fast read that I didn’t want to put down. Even though it was well over 400 pages it felt short. I wanted more. Now, when the relationship evolved there were long, explicit sex scenes (level six spice), but there was still a good story. I feel like sometimes when the main characters discover their feelings the plot takes second place… I can honestly say that I didn’t find that to be true here. Add to that, the eARC I recieved has black and white sketches! (Most are extremely tame.) Now I want that for all the books. Weirdly, the eBook currently on Kindle Unlimited doesn’t have these. I don’t know if it’s because this was a different publisher, if there will be a new eBook edition, or if this will be in the new edition of the paperback… or if it will be there at all. If it isn’t, I think I am going to miss it.

For me, this is a five star book.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Rating: 5 out of 5.
As far as adult content goes, there is language, drinking, sexual content, and bullying. This one is definitely geared towards adults.

I was lucky enough to receive an eARC of this book courtesy of Netgalley and Sourcebooks in exchange for an honest review. My thanks.

My 2nd in this series and I just can’t stop laughing while reading these! I know I missed the middle one it’s next on my list!!!How does Meghan do that! Her ability to intertwine well developed characters, with a plot that is well mapped out with some romance but also comedy gold! I will never know and it’s definitely why I always find her books when I need a break from other book genres.

The banter between the brothers, between Lia & Breaker is all just gold! The Gemma stalker behavior had me rolling on the floor! The tiny watercolor pictures did me in! I absolutely love the board game obsession in this story too! The glass Yahtzee is this a real thing?! Also poor Lia and all the wedding planning catastrophes! I was laughing out loud about the BEE!

Ugh but Brian…. double UGH with the Beave. I hated Lia with Brian from the start. I wanted her and Breaker together right away! Which is obviously the point!! Which is why I then serial read this until I finished it in a few hours because I truly needed to know how she ditched Brian & ended the trifecta of finally catching & securing the last Cane brother!!!

The smut scenes were top notch. A lot of angst & tension which i was so intrigued to see how the end would play out! It never gets old getting lost in one of these books Meghan!

Huge thank you to Bloom Books & NetGalley for this copy in return for my honest review.!

Breaker Cane is on an unexpected break from work. With a lot of free time on his hands, he dives deep into helping his best friend, Lia, plan her wedding and keep her from her overbearing mother-in=law-to-be. With the wedding coming up quickly, Breaker has his work cut out for him. What happens when he starts to realize he may have more than platonic feelings for his best friend? She's about to walk down the aisle with someone else, and more than anything Breaker wants her to be happy. Could she be happy with him or will he ruin everything by telling her how he's feeling?

This is such a good ending to the Cane brothers trilogy. I loved Lia's character and Breaker might be my favorite Cane brother. I also loved the tie ins to the previous books. This is a great steamy, funny, heartwarming read.

Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Bloom Books for the ARC of A Long Time Coming.
