Meghan Quinn does it again. I read all of her books with such ease. Good trilogy. Enjoyed them all. Hope there is a follow up with the 3 brothers at Lias wedding. And the babies just to finish it all off .

Breaker is the youngest of the Cane Brothers. He is a sexy billionaire who happens to be one of the world’s biggest nerds. He has been best friends with Lia since college and bonded over everything nerdy and board games. Lia just got engaged and her new mother-in-law is the absolute worst. Breaker, as the Pickle of Honor (maid of honor), has to run interference so Lia can enjoy her wedding. However, Breaker realizes he is actually in love with his best friend.

Breaker is absolutely my favorite Cane brother and literally the man of my freaking dreams. The first date between Breaker and Lia was literal magic and the fact that he remembered what she once said was her perfect first date for years is so swoon worthy. Gosh, I wish I could have my first kiss under the Disney fireworks. The mouth on this man is 🥵🥵🥵🥵. I absolutely adored this book.

I devoured A Long Time Coming! This was such a great angsty read. There were some tropes that usually don’t work for me (she has a fiancé until like 65% of the book) but damn I enjoyed this so so much. If you like friends to lovers, with tension and spice this is a must try. This was my first Meghan Quinn and I definitely want to go back and read the first books of the series. 4.25 stars (4 for Netgalley)

Meghan Quinn holds my heart, ESPECIALLY if I need a laugh! The story of Breaker and Lia was so dang cute! You could tell right from the beginning that they were both in love with each other and were just too afraid to do something about it, so watching Breaker help Lia marry someone else was gut wrenching, but just when you think all hope is lost…

3/5 Stars

Thank you to bloom books and netgalley for the arc.

I really enjoyed the first two books in this series so I expected to love this one also but I didn’t love it even as much as the others. There was more than one Harry Potter reference and tbh I don’t know why I didn’t just follow my rule of DNFing books with HP references that were published after JKR showed her true self. This was somehow the slowest burn and also fast once they realized their feelings and it just was a bit odd. The overall pacing felt really off and the conflict felt really forced.

Breaker Cane agrees to be the man in waiting for his best friend Lia’s wedding even though he dislikes who she is marrying. Breaker and Lia have been best friends since college but were never anything more than friends. Lia’s future Mother in Law is horrible and wants complete control over Lia’s wedding and Lia’s fiancé doesn’t stand up for her at all, which is why Lia asks for Breaker’s help. During the wedding planning process Breaker starts to realize maybe he feels more than just platonic love for Lia but doesn’t want to ruin her wedding just because he thinks he might be in love with her. But when Lia starts to become suspicious of her fiancé, and the wedding nuptials are racing towards them they both have to decide what they will do and what they are happy with.

Breaker and Lia don’t get together until I think over 60% into the book but after that happens their relationship is insanely fast and yes they have been friends for years but this still is a lot of massive change in a very short amount of time for them. Breaker and his brother’s company is also being sued during this book but we don’t hear a lot about it and it is so minimal even though it sounded like a big issue in the beginning. I also hate how Breaker wants what is best for Lia but is mostly willing to just let her continue her relationship with Brian, her fiancé even though he can tell she is uncomfortable at times. I personally even would like to think I would tell my friend that what is happening is wrong and that her fiancé should be standing up for her against their mother, but Breaker doesn’t tell her this until she breaks off the relationship. I like Lia and Breaker together as a couple but it just felt fast and weird which Lia even points out in the beginning of their new relationship.

I think a lot will liking this but it wasn’t more me and I do wish I had DNFed after I got weird vibes in the prologue.

I'd seen this book's previous cover many times and never got around to reading it, but when the series was re-released with these beautiful new covers, I jumped at the chance to provide a review for @netgalley and @read_bloom.

Breaker Cane and Lia Fairweather-Fern have been best friends since college. Ten years later, they live across the hall from each other, sharing a dorky obsession with tacos and board games. When Lia's less-than-awesome boyfriend proposes and her monstrous future MIL fast-tracks the wedding, Breaker steps in as the man-in-waiting for his best friend as they work with the MIL for all of the last-minute decisions. As the wedding quickly approaches, and Breaker helps pick out venues, flowers, cake, and dresses, he realizes what his brothers have known for years - he is in love with his best friend. But is it better for him to keep his mouth shut and save their friendship or risk everything for a chance at love?

These two kind-hearted nerds have such an adorable friendship. This is one of those books where you FEEL the friendship and their deep history. A classic slow burn, the Breaker and Lia don't even realize their feelings for each other until well past the 60% mark of the book, while readers will feel it the entire time. Although this is the third book in the series, it is the first I read. I am sure that I would have loved the back story on the other brothers, but not knowing it didn't prevent me from enjoying this book (but I'm quickly going back to read the rest of the series). Typically, I'm not fond of billionaire romance novels, but I enjoyed this one, although his finances didn't play a role in the story. This one is a perfect read if you love funny, sexy, slow-burn friends to lovers.

The audiobook is *chef’s kiss* with the rare duet narration and I highly recommend it.

This was my favorite of the whole trio! Breaker and Lia have one of the best friends to lovers stories I have read. The only thing that bothered me about their friendship prior to her no longer being with her fiancé was that they would cuddle in the same bed. That is a big no from me. Once they actually got together, the spice was unreal. I also loved the girls friendship with Lottie, Kelsey, and Myla and seeing where their relationships were after their books.

A Long Time Coming is the third and final book of The Cane Beothers series of interconnected standalones. This is definitely my favorite of the series! There is just something about best friends becoming lovers. This slow burn was perfect…it needed to be slow burn for their story to work! I loved everything about Breaker and Lia’s relationship. It was genuine and believable.

Breaker “Pickle” Cane is what every woman needs in a best friend. When Lia gets engaged to her boyfriend what does Breaker do? He stands beside her and helps her plan the wedding. He even stands up for her against the evil Beave when her fiancé doesn’t! Breaker is so swoony it will melt your heart…while he also melts your panties! This man has such a dirty mouth! And I’m here for it!

Lia is sassy and funny and I freaking loved her! I’m so glad she finally opened her eyes to see what Breaker really means to her. These two are perfect for each other!

I love a good friends to lovers book, so I had high expectations. But sadly it just didn’t hit the way I hoped it would. This wasn’t necessarily a bad book, it was pretty decent actually. It’s just that i didn’t love it or hate it, I just feel indifferent towards it. It was funny and sweet at times but I found many parts too cringey.

This sweet but steamy friends to enemies to lovers story, the third in a series of the Cane brothers, tells the story of youngest brother Breaker and his best friend since college Lia. They met in college as part of a Secret Scrabble Society and hit it off right away with their interests being so similar. Flash forward 10 years and Lia is now engaged to Brian, a wealthy but dull workaholic with a overly involved mother. While Breaker helps Lia plan her wedding as her man of honor and deal with her controlling future mother-in-law, he starts to realize his feelings for Lia aren't just as friends anymore and maybe there's something more between them. But they've been friends for so long, is it worth putting himself out there and risking their once in a lifetime relationship? The answer, absolutely! I really enjoyed this book overall but felt the ending as a bit rushed. If this is the last of the series, I wanted more tying up for the full group of characters.

A Long Time Coming re-releases January 2, 2024

2.5

Lia and Breaker met in college and quickly formed a friendship after bonding over Scrabble, Supernatural fanfiction, and his repulsive mustache.
In the present day, allegations of a hostile work environment has Breaker on a sabbatical while his brothers do damage control over being sued for misconduct in the workplace, which leaves him with all the free time to accompany Lia on all things wedding related.

If you’ve ever struggled to understand why some people in real life are hesitant with their partners having a best friend of the opposite sex, this is the perfect book for that.
Just one chapter in and I was feeling uncomfy!!! It was 100% giving sus/cheating vibes.

Lia and Breaker are next door neighbours in their apartment building and have a very close relationship with a lot of history embedded. They’ve lived beside each other for 5 years and every night since, they knock on their joint bedroom walls and tap out the letters of “love you” — cute right? WEll think again, because homegirl is ENGAGED TO ANOTHER MAN. As shitty as Brian and his mother were, I don’t blame him for having trust issues because that’s too close for comfort.
If my fiance was sleeping in the bed of his best friend while we were engaged even if they’re claiming it to be platonic, I’d be IRATE.

Now, remove Brian and their engagement/intensive wedding planning from the equation and this would have been the perfect friends to lovers book because Lia and Breaker had the best chemistry from page 1, everything was already set up with their close proximity and large amount of history, and the fact that they were nerdy and into games was so refreshing in a romance.

The last 20% of them finally navigating being together was incredibly rushed :/

Also that cameo of Mikayla with the Boston accent from makeup Tiktok was so cringey lmfao.

I love best friend to lover story.
The first half was great but the end a little to long.
Breaker is my favorite Cane brother. I loved how he takes care of Lia and their friendship.

This was the first book I read on NetGalley and I honestly loved it. I rated it 4 out of 5 because I just did not like Lia at the beginning; however, she definitely grew on me at the end. Was it a little cringy at times? Yes, but I feel like it helped with the cheesy, goofy, rom com vibe. And as someone who has experienced a best friends to lovers trope in real life, this was one of the few books where it felt so real and natural. It basically felt like someone took my love story and wrote it down. This was my first Meghan Quinn book and it won't be my last!

A Long Time Coming by Meghan Quinn is so entertaining and full of humor.
This was a cute book! I thought the characters were fun and interesting. They were all so lovable. I couldn't put it down. There is just something special and engaging about her writing. She immediately pulls you in and holds you captive. This book was fun, spicy, and just an all around good read.
