This book gave me everything from the amazing banter that kept me laughing so much. The adorable friendship and possessiveness. I found the characters very relatable and you can’t help but fall in love with them. This is my first book from the series and this author. I definitely want to check out the rest!

“That there is no other choice than to become the greatest friends of all time.”

Lia meets Breaker when she gets invited to a top-secret Scrabble club in college. From the start, they really hit it off and become friends.

Fast forward to ten years later where they are best friends who live right next door to each other and have weekly dinner dates. They spend all their free time with each other. While Breaker is single Lia is in a serious relationship.

“Or your maid of honor…ooo, your man of honor. Or, better yet, man in waiting”

Once Breaker finds out that she’s engaged and plans to get married in five weeks. Not only does he help her with standing up to her mother-in-law. But she slowly discovers that her relationship isn’t as perfect as she thought.

“Uh…I believe I just blessed you hard with holy water.”
The church fire scene had me laughing so hard and loud!😂 So many different moments when the Cane brothers are talking, during the girl time, and wedding planning appointments.

This book will not disappoint and give you a little bit of everything. Completely chef kiss.

That’s exactly why, because why do you need a girlfriend when Lia is all you’ve ever needed.”

When Breaker finally realizes that he’s in love with Lia. He comes up with a plan to show how he feels, that it can be their new normal, and how he’s the best choice.

Thank you, Meghan Quinn, Sourcebooks, Bloom Books, and Netgalley for this EARC! As always, my review is my opinion and thoughts. This review will be shared on my Instagram @Alexandriavwilliams_ shortly.

The premise of this story is one that I typically enjoy; a friends-to-lovers trope coupled with some forbidden romance and a lot of pining.

Lia started off as a sweet and lovable FMC. Her banter with the MMC painted her as a strong, confident woman who wasn't afraid of being herself. But, alas, around 40%, she became the pushover of my nightmares, constantly lying to herself just to keep the peace. Her strength and confidence from earlier chapters seemed to disappear into thin air as soon as the wedding planning started.

Breaker (I'm sorry, but I just can't handle that name) was a great MMC. He was loyal, supportive and as soon as he realized how he felt about Lia, he was completely honest with himself and his family.

What's absolutely bizarre is how couple-y Breaker and Lia acted for years, so much so that it was obvious, yet confusing to their friends and family. It was implausible that neither of them felt a semblance of attraction or chemistry in all those years.

I did appreciate that once he realized how he felt, Breaker didn't hide his feelings from Lia despite her engagement. He let her see him as a viable option and form her own opinion of him. He made her feel safe enough to realize and address her own feelings for him.

The plot and storyline were certainly enjoyable, but I do still feel like there was something missing. Perhaps, Lia's character arc could've been a little more significant, and maybe they could've acknowledged their attraction a little sooner, at least to themselves.

Lia & Breaker. Okayyy.. hands down this was the BEST friends to lovers book that I have ever read. Perfection. I usually don't like friends to lovers trope, but this was so good.

It was sweet and funny. And everything I like about romance books.
Slow burn with a lot of spice. I adored Lia, she had so loving heart, but was also sassy. And Breaker, nerdy and dirty....

Lia and Breaker are college friends and later they live next door apartment.  Lia is engaged and Breaker is her man-in-waiting. And in this wedding planning, he discovers that he's in love with her.

"A Long Time Coming" by Meghan Quinn delivers a delightful friends-to-lovers romance that had me hooked from the very beginning. The chemistry between Breaker and Lia is palpable, and Quinn's witty banter adds the perfect touch to their evolving relationship. As Breaker steps up to be Lia's Man of Honor in the face of her impending nuptials to the less-than-desirable Brian, the story takes unexpected turns that had me laughing out loud.
Breaker Cane emerges as a standout character among the Cane brothers, and his journey from a supportive friend to realizing he's madly in love with Lia is both heartwarming and hilarious. The dynamics among the brothers showcase Quinn's skill in crafting engaging and humorous interactions.
The book is a rollercoaster of emotions, and as Breaker navigates his growing feelings for Lia amidst wedding chaos, the reader is taken on a journey filled with laughter, love, and a few surprises. "A Long Time Coming" is a must-read for fans of romantic comedies, offering a perfect blend of humor, romance, and the joy of discovering love where you least expect it.

Very grateful to the publisher for my review copy through NetGalley, opinions are my own.

Loved loved loved Breaker and Lia! Don’t ask me why but I had my expectations pretty low for this one and it blew them away.

I often seem to be drawn to stories with great friendships and this series has them in spades. We already knew and loved the brotherhood between Huxley, JP, & Breaker Cane, but add in Breaker’s decade long friendship with Lia and I was in “I want to be in their friend group” heaven.

As for the love story, well even though “friends to lovers” is a tale as old as time, I felt like Meghan took a different approach that made the story refreshing and hot. The mouth on that man. 🥵

Now this book is more when harry met sally compared to ‘So Not Meant to Be.’ This was friends to lovers excellence. You know it’s going to be good when they’ve been friends for a decade. The pining is so good. I love Lia and Breaker’s relationship so much. Even before they were “officially” friends, they got along like they’ve known each other their whole lives. Lia’s ex-fiance was an asshole and his mother a tyrant. I’m so glad Breaker was there for Lia regardless. I will admit that the pacing of this book was a little slow. I’m not sure if it’s actually like that or if it’s a me thing. Either way, when Lia broke off her engagement with that man and she Breaker finally got together, everything went by fast. Too fast. But they *have* been a long time coming. It was a bitter sweet ending to the Cane Brothers series. This book continues to prove the supremacy of the friends to lovers trope.

Thank you NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review

Saved the best for last!! The yearning! The smolder! The love! The lust! The waiting and the wanting and the teasing and the teaching! Ugh each brother is better than the last and I can’t get enough of this universe.

I absolutely loved this book. Perfect amounts of wit, hilarity, angst and so much love.

Breaker and Lia have been friends for a decade but things are changing. Lia is now engaged and Breaker is her Man of Honor. Here we see the dynamic of how feelings start to change as the traverse unknown waters. As Breaker helps her with her monster in law and all the wedding plans… both start to realize what’s been in front of them all along.

Can Breaker make Lia see that he is who she should really be with?

Definitely one click this amazing story! You won’t be disappointed.

Friends to lovers is such a special plot. I adore Breaker. I love their relationship. The future MIL of who Lia was going to marry was a grade a B. Breaker has a side to him I never would’ve guessed and I LOVED it (hello bathtub scene). As like any Meghan book, the laugh out loud humor has me hooked (and cackling out loud)

✨️ Slow burn

✨️ Incredible banter

I love this series so much; it has become my favorite of the three.

Lia and Breaker are incredible characters, and the chemistry and tension between them are so obvious.

It's funny how their relationship was basically a full-on romance, but they didn't realize it. The complicity and how well they knew each other were just on point.

And when Breaker finally realized he didn't want to see his girl marry someone else—chef's kiss.

I really liked how their relationship evolved after Lia called off the engagement. I get her fear of opening up. But when she finally allowed herself... that window scene spilled EVERYTHING. Seriously, Breaker, call me.

I love these characters so much, and I'm thrilled they finally got their happy ending.

Thank you so much, NetGalley and Bloom Books for sending me this ARC.

I'll say it once, I'll say it a million times- Meghan Quinn's work ages like fine wine- every book she publishers just gets better and better. Breaker Kane is the dirty talking cinnamon roll of a billionaire every girl wishes she had. This friends/pining for each other trope was played to perfection and watching Breaker try and be the supportive friend during the whole...ya know (don't want to spoil it) was like perfect torture to read. The Kane Brothers are just my favourite and I love the cameo's that come in as part of this story.

This is just the third installment of an excellent series by Quinn- add it to your bookshelf ASAP!

I’ve loved this series. I think this one is the best one. I love friends to lovers and Quinn really does a fantastic job with the trope. You believe the friendship and the love that blooms from it. Plus I couldn’t get enough of the drama haha.
This is also super steamy.

A Long Time Coming - Meghan Quinn
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is my favourite Meghan Quinn book hands down! I feel like people are sleeping on this book.

This book follows Breaker and Lia who have been friends for years. I fell so in love with both of these characters. There was a very authenic progress from friends to lovers ( this is coming from a friends to lovers hater). Their banter was my favourite thing, it’s like when they started no one else existed.

Also Breaker Cane has a mouth on him. He is such a sweet man but then you get him in bed and a switch is flipped and I am here for it!

Also all the cameos from all the other characters I loved! I cannot wait for a Penn book!

Quotes I loved:
“Lia, I remember everything about you.”

“And I’m going to f*ck you, Lia. I’m going to make sure you feel nothing but my d*ck for the rest of your goddamn life.”

“I’m spoiling you because I want to, because I get to, and because you deserve nothing but the best, Lia.”

Okay, this was GOOD!

One of my all-time favourite rom-coms is Made of Honor (I mean, Patrick Dempsey?!) and this book was everything I loved about that film and more. It was the perfect friends to lovers. Longtime best friends, Breaker and Lia are inseparable so when Lia gets engaged to Brian, someone Breaker hates, he knows he has to step up and become Lia's Man of Honor to show his support and help deter her soon-to-be monster/mother-in-law. As the wedding planning progresses, Breaker realizes he's actually madly in love with his best friend and gosh, as soon as he realizes he loves her, he stops at nothing to make her realize that she loves him too.

I full on laughed out loud at various points throughout the book. The banter was incredible! Breaker is my favourite Cane brother and I'm so thrilled that I actually enjoyed this heroine (Lia) when I've hated the rest of them in this series. I also cannot get enough of the brothers together. Chapter 1 especially had me in stitches and was a good indicator of just how much I'd love this book.

*mini spoiler* There wasn’t a third act explosive argument/breakup and it was so refreshing! I hate when authors force an unnecessary misunderstanding/fight just to extend the plot so what Quinn did at the end was perfection! Other authors, please take note!

I'm so thrilled this series ended on a high! 10/10 would recommend!
