When I saw that there were more books featuring the Cane brothers, I was excited. I had enjoyed the other two quite a bit, and was curious to learn more about the Cane family. That being sad, this book is not as strong as the other two. Breaker is an adorable guy, and I think this book would be a super cute movie that I would definitely watch, but it just wasn't that believable. I also have no idea what Lia does for work. Maybe it said at one point but I don't think it did? It was a little odd to me. The other books are so centered around the work lives of the characters, so it was a little strange to have this book just mention that Lia had work to do, but never anything more than that. It made her fall a little bit flat. I think the book had potential, but I just don't feel like the execution was really there. It was a quick and entertaining read, but definitely my least favorite of the three books. Thank you to NetGalley and Bloom Books for this ARC.
This book was a lot of fun to read! I enjoyed that the couple started as friends and I even enjoyed how Lia gets engaged to someone else at the start of the book. It was so rewarding to watch her realize she deserved better. I love how Breaker put his all into being her man of honor even though the process let him discover that he had deep romantic feelings for her. This book is friends to lovers and I enjoyed ever second!
Me reading A Long Time Coming was such a long time coming and I’m so happy I was gifted this to read with the new trade pub because it was the nudge I needed!
I read the first two cane brothers books almost exactly a year ago and loved them, so returning to this world and getting to know Breaker and Lia was so perfect!! Breaker is pretty much my dream guy so hello new book bf. It was sometimes over the top and cheesy but it was so sweet!! the smut was also SO good and original feeling and I ate up this book. Wish there were more brothers so I could have more in this world!
Thanks NetGalley, Meghan Quinn and Sourcebook Casablanca for the gifted copy. All thoughts are mine.
The name of the book sold me, as someone who is also a Swiftie, Megan gets me every time with her titles.
Besides the cover and title being adorable, so is the book. The mother in law drive me up a wall and wanted to make me scream.
I think my new favorite trope might just be friends not realizing their feelings because this was it. Absolutely recommend, it’s sweet, slow and worth every moment.
I think Breaker is my favorite out of the three men from this series. He and Lia are goals! The trope is best friends to lovers, and I love the MIL being involved in the story. Quinn is a master at her art.
This is a fun and spicy friends to lovers romance. I enjoyed that friendship, banter and chemistry between the main characters as well as all the wedding planning shenanigans that went down in the story. I also really liked that there were appearances of familiar characters from the other books in this series.
I absolutely enjoyed reading this. Although this is a part of the Cane Brothers series, this book can be read as a standalone. It’s a cute, lighthearted best friends to lovers story with some spice.
I didn't realize this was the third book in the Cane brothers series. That being said, I thoroughly enjoyed this book as a standalone. Meghan Quinn's books are so much fun! I will definitely be buying the rest of the books in the series, because I loved this story!
I need to begin by explaining that I have not read the other Cane books and don’t feel like I missed out on anything by reading this one first- it can absolutely be read as a stand-alone novel. I just wished I knew about the other Cane books because I like to read series in order. This book had everything! I enjoyed the plot and the characters. Highly recommended this “ feel good” storey. I couldn’t put it down!
I love Meghan Quinn books! They are so much fun and obsessive. Breaker is youngest of three Cane brothers. Lia is his best friend since college. They live next door to each other and constantly in each other’s lives and homes. They both insist that there is nothing romantic in their relationship. And then slowly things change when Lia gets engaged.
A Long Time Coming by Meghan Quinn is book Three in the Cane Brothers Series. This is the story of Breaker and Ophelia. Ophelia and Breaker have been best friends since college and they now live next door to each other. Ophelia is set to marry someone else but things are going smoothly. Enjoyed this friends to lovers romance.
"A Long Time Coming" by Meghan Quinn is a captivating masterpiece that effortlessly weaves together heartwarming moments and genuine emotion. The characters are beautifully developed, and the storyline keeps you hooked from start to finish. Quinn's writing style is both engaging and eloquent, making this a must-read for anyone seeking a heartfelt and unforgettable romance. It's a solid 5-star experience that lingers in your thoughts long after the last page.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
HEA: yes
spice: several open-door spicy scenes
TWs: broken engagement, death of a parent (recounted), emotional cheating, emotional manipulation
standalone: book 3 in the Cane Brothers trilogy (technically can be read as a standalone but more context is added when read as a series)
final thoughts: This book was my favorite of the series! Although I didn’t love the intimacy (even though it was completely platonic) between 2 characters while 1 is in a relationship with someone else… it was well done. We get to see both MCs fall for each other on paper and it’s so cute! I love how Breaker stood up for and supported Lia no matter what the scenario was. And I really love the trope of nerdy boy in the streets, dirty talker in the sheets

This was such a great book! I loved both of the main characters so much. I can't wait to read more Meghan Quinn books.
As always, I loved it. Stayed up far too late to finish it because I didn’t want to stop. Meghan hooks me in and this one was no different. Memorable characters. Great story. Would definitely recommend.
Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinions.
Well I read this book in one sitting. It was so cute. I did get pretty annoyed at the MC because she let every one walk all over her but it all worked itself out in the end.
Lia and Breaker have been best friends since college. They are so close they even live next door to each other. When Lia gets engaged Breaker is forced to admit to himself that he actually loves her. Will he tell her before it’s too late?
I don’t think I’ve ever read a Meghan Quinn book
I didn’t like! She knocks it out of the park every time for me.
5/5 stars and would definitely recommend.

Cane Brothers series
Friends to Lovers Breaker and Lia are so nerdy and cute together.
Breaker and Lia have been best friends since college and have held tight to their friendship for over a decade always leaning on each other. When Lia gets engaged to her boyfriend, she is roped into getting married in a matter of a few weeks.
Breaker is by her side, trying to help her through all the ups and downs that come with planning a wedding.
Breaker realizes he's always had feelings for Lia but doesn't know how to go about telling her really and Lia is starting to see Breaker in a new light but doesn't want to screw anything up.
Breaker and Lia are so adorable and nerdy together, between game nights, shows, sleepovers, and just hanging out. Plus, all brothers hanging out the banter and the cane brother's wives and all the side characters, I love them.
Both are extremely slow at getting to the point of realizing that hey we should try being together, like I just wanted to smack them for how long it took. That's my biggest thing was just how long it took, other than that I really enjoyed this read.

If you are into friends to lovers then this will be something up your alley. I liked that I didn't have to read the other books in this series and I could still follow along just fine. I loved the friendship between Breaker and Lia but I think what bothered me was the "sexy" times. I pretty much just skimmed over those parts because they felt a little over the top.
As far as the rest of the story I really liked it. I'm glad she was able to get out of a poor relationship and see what she had right in front of her.
better than So Meant To Be but no where near as good as A Not So Meet Cute. thought Lia and Breakers friendship was really immature and cringy. the only redeeming part of the book was the cameos from Huxley and Lottie.
thank you to NetGalley and BloomBooks for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
A Long Time Coming is the third installment in Meghan Quinn’s Cane Brothers series and this one was my favorite. A friends-to-lovers romance, I found this one to be the sweetest book in the series. This story focuses on Breaker, the youngest Cane brother, and his best friend of ten years, Ophelia Fairweather-Fern (Lia). Breaker and Lia met and bonded over all things nerdy when they were in college. Even now, all these years later, they are still inseparable, having weekly board game nights, and they actually live next door to one another. When Lia announces that she and her boyfriend Brian are getting married, it’s only natural that Breaker, as her best friend, would serve as her Man of Honor. But is he only just a friend?
I adored both Lia and Breaker. They were just so sweet and fun together, and their banter had me in stitches the whole time I was reading. I also really felt for Lia too though because the whole situation with her wedding is a nightmare. Brian’s mother, an upper crust snob, has deemed Lia as a somewhat acceptable choice for her son but decides that she should be the one to make ALL of the decisions regarding the ceremony, up to and including what Lia should wear, where the ceremony should be held, and when it should take place (5 weeks after Brian’s proposal because an elite location has one opening!). She stomps on Lia’s ideas at every turn and makes her feel inferior over and over again, while Brian just stands there and lets his mother behave this way. It is Breaker who steps in time and time again to defend Lia and to put Brian’s mother in her place. I already loved Breaker and thought he was a sweetheart before watching him in action to defend Lia, so he became ultimate book boyfriend material when he went after Brian’s awful mother.
I’m a huge sucker for a friends-to-lovers romance so I was in heaven watching Breaker and Lia slowly come to realize that their love for one another has long since left the friend zone. While this is a series, all three books work as interconnected standalones, so if sweet, sexy and fun is your vibe and you enjoy movies like My Best Friend’s Wedding, you’ll definitely want to check out A Long Time Coming.
