Friends to lovers is not always one of my favorite tropes but I loved reading the story of Lia and Breaker. The banter between Breaker and his brothers was top notch, and the texting between Lia and Breaker had me laughing out loud. So many great moments as Lia learns that putting her needs first is better than trying to always please others - especially those not don't really care about her, and the final showdown between her and her future mother-in-law was a real pleasure to read and her running out with cake in her hands while her and Breaker ate it was hilarious.

This book was so good! Absolutely 💯 loved it. Thanks NetGalley and to the publisher for this. I look forward to reading more from this author.

I love the Cane Brothers and this one was no exception. Breaker is quite possibly my favorite Cane! Nerdy, swoony BFF to lovers trope!

This is a book in a series but I don’t think I needed the other two to know what was happening! It’s a friends to lovers which is one of my favorites! I loved that it felt like it was more of a male main character point of view than anything.

This was such a delicious friends to lovers. He had been waiting so long for her he didn't even really he was waiting anymore until the threat of losing her friendship to marriage. Well it might have been ok if they were compatible and he treated her right but the guy was just following a list.
But OMG Breaker in the bedroom is a sight to behold. Woah! I haven't read the first two in the series but from the stories the wives of Breakers brothers shared I'm def going back.

I loved this book. Cheesy smutty romance! Who doesn't love a hot nerd, even more so when the nerd is a warm, sensitive, and caring man. The characters in this book are very likable. There were a few laugh out loud moments as well as some to bring tears to your eyes. I highly recommend this book to romance readers who don't mind a good amount of spice and cursing.

Sign me up for a gender-swapped My Best Friend’s Wedding! Lia and Breaker are adorable geeks and friends to lovers is my favorite trope. I love the Cane brothers, and I love this story!

This story had me hooked at scrabble club and Supernatural Winchester brothers fan fic! It starts off with fantastic banter and a hilarious first impression.
This is my first Meghan Quinn book and it did not disappoint! I found the main characters to be so lovable. They're both nerdy and straight forward. The dynamic between Breaker and Ophelia is probably the best one I have encounter from a couple. They both start off as friends and after a decade Breaker realizes he's in love with her. Here's the kicker she's getting married to another man 😨
I was on a rollercoaster between laughter, anger, and complete joy while reading this book. The way it was sense of humor was great. I loved when Lia stood up to her fiancé and mother-n-law from hell.
Absolutely recommend!

Oh my goodness I loved A Long Time Coming so much…especially when things started to change between Breaker and Lia! Their friendship and banter was ELITE, and I loved their friends-to-lovers evolution. In the past, Meghan Quinn has been hit-and-miss for me, but A Long Time Coming gave me all the same feel-good vibes as The Highland Fling! Both Breaker and Lia were very likable characters, and the supporting friendships and relationships were well-written, hilarious, and endearing. I LOVE a golden retriever MMC that turns into a dirty talker, and Breaker is now one of my book boyfriends! I’m so happy I picked up this book and I can’t wait to read more Meghan Quinn books!

Best friends to lovers! Loved the flashbacks. I had read this book before, perhaps this was a re-release? Enjoyed reading it again. If you like Meghan Quinn, you will love this book.

The third is the Cane Brothers trilogy comes at a good time for some fresh air. Having found the first 2 instalments somewhat similar the third is considerably different.
We see the youngest Cane brother realising somewhat late that his long time best friend Lia is his soulmate. She on the other hand has just gotten engaged and so ensues a story which can only be best described as a mixture of My best friend's wedding and Made of honour with a hilarious comically one dimensional mother aka monster in law. Planning a wedding in 5 short weeks might just be the kind of stress Breaker Cane can use to his advantage to win his love.
The female main character Lia is not your typical girl, we are constantly reminded of this because she wears glasses, doesn't dress girly and likes 'nerdy' things (her words not mine).
The spice is a slow tease coming in towards the end in the usually hot Meghan Quinn fashion. We also see the older 2 Cane Brothers happily married offering some 'good' advice along with their wives.
A refreshing read after having just read the other 2 but what was the best of all was the surprising addition of the pictures every few chapters. I felt like a child with pictures but I loved it! More please!

A best friends to lovers romance will definitely capture your heart. This book is full of fun, laughter, sass, sarcasm, romance and love. I am completely in love with Breaker and Lia. So sweet, adorable, engaging and realistic. The chemistry, the emotions, the humor and witty banter... it was just a delight from start to finish. Great writing, this book is absolutely amazing.

Is you are looking for a 🔥 spicy romance, this is your book!
Lia is engaged to be married to her boyfriend, but is having doubts. With an over bearing mother in law to be and lack of passion in her relationship, Lia is unhappy. Her best friend, named Breaker, is a gorgeous billionaire who happens to live next door. This book is a friend to lover romance that is so spicy it is sure to make you blush. The second half of the book is when the author turns up to heat.
Will Lia find true love with her best friend? I don’t want to spoil the fun so you will have to read it to find out!
Thank to Netgalley for the eArc in exchange for my review.

A Long Time Coming by Meghan Quinn is the third book in the Cane Brothers series. I have not read the first two books. Other than knowing who they end up with and little tidbits of the roadblocks to their happiness, this book can definitely be read as a stand-alone.
This is a friend's to lovers trope for sure. And if you have any issues with the best friend wanting the bride to be, this is likely not the book for you. I find that there are so few books that really have geeky lead characters, and I absolutely love the scrabble and other gaming elements in the book.
Breaker Cane is a great best friend. Some might call him the best man for the job of making sure the bride doesn't get steamrolled by the overbearing future mother in law. When Lia accepts her boyfriend Brian's proposal, no one is more surprised than her BFF. Yes, Breaker is not a fan of Brian, but he's so anything for Lia, so here he is the backup to the disaster of planning a wedding in FIVE WEEKS. Honestly, if that wasn't the death knoll right there, you'll soon figure out that the nuptials are not meant to be.
Breaker and Lia met in college and are still in each others pockets ten years later. They've been in the friend zone, but now it's time to be the grown-up and realize they are each other's persons. Once the blinders come off, the steam heats up quickly and often. Whew, grab a fan, people.
Things that I took away and left we wondering, we spent so many instances mentioning Lias parents' deaths. But we never once mentioned Breakers. And since his financial status and the closeness with his brothers are brought up repeatedly, it just seemed odd.

I blew through this book, which may be my favorite of the Cane Brothers series! Lia is Breaker’s longtime best friend, and from the beginning it’s clear that they are each other’s people. I live for this kind of perfectly-written connection between characters, and it was here in spades. How they slowly started to figure out what they could be — while Lia plans a wedding to another man— was excellent slow-burn material. I was anticipating every next page, and then utterly happy with how the plot developed. This is friends to lovers crafted so well, with amazing spice, humor, and new characters (to me, at least) who had me looking up more of her books to read! I could binge all of her stories, but this one really stuck with me.
Read if you want characters who are simply each other’s soulmates. I highly, highly recommend this one, even if you haven’t read the others in the series!

The Krane brothers are just so yummy! This book we get to enjoy Breakers’s love story and Meghan does not disappoint. Full of great banter, laughs and spice moments, it is just chef’s kiss!!

I’m a hot mess. Every flippin’ time, I read a Meghan Quinn book. I shake my head, clutching it, saying, “No, no, no.” I breathe deeply through my nose as I begin again, slowly blinking my eyes as I read —a whole ritualistic process throughout the story. Yet, I keep coming back for more, feeling the pain each time. It’s all good, I tell myself. It’s. All. Good.
I have a soft spot for the Friends-to-Lovers trope, and Meghan has this down. In “A Longtime Coming,” Lia and Breaker have been close friends for a long time. They know everything about each other. Now that Lia is getting married and Breaker is her man of honor, feelings are shifting between them. It’s not helping that Breaker does not like Lia’s fiance, and Lia has been questioning everything from wedding decisions made solely by her soon-to-be mother-in-law to the non-existent schmex life she has.
Though it is a slow burn, “A Longtime Coming” was worth it. Meghan is naturally gifted at building a story and using detailed descriptives with her characters. Her sense of humor is woven through without being overbearing. I loved Breaker. I loved his interactions with his brothers. And the spice was sizzling.
Thank you, Netgalley, for a copy of “A Longtime Coming” by Meghan Quinn

Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I enjoyed this one soooo much more than the first book. I am not a Huxley girl, but Breaker I love. (Even if I find his name abhorrent)
My biggest issue with this book is dating other people. I understood the situation with Lia, but adding another female just seemed like extra drama.
I love these two though. Their friendship is amazing and one I am jealous of. I laughed so much! Still not a fan of Huxley, but the way he is with his brothers gives him some bonus points.

Thank you to Net Galley for the copy of this book.
I always know when I pick up a MQ book that we are going for a fun journey of finding love and these two gave us that and so much more. Friends to lovers that’s a slow burn. One that gives you all the feels and gives you a wonderful entertaining romance. These two has a connection from the very first moment…it just takes them a while to realize that they need one another. That what they have would blossom into a beautiful happily ever after.

Breaker & Ophelia (Lia) have the funniest, sweetest meet-cute during college. Fast-forward a decade and they remain the best of friends who do EVERYTHING together.. - seriously Lia & Breaker's friendship makes me want to go back to college so I can find an SSS and a Breaker of my own!
During a heartstring pulling moment of "he falls first", Breaker realizes all of his feelings aren't platonic and he must find out how to show Lia how he feels without ruining what they have.
What I loved: the quirky personalities, the disastrous wedding planning situations, the text banter, the spice 👌
*Friends-to-lovers is not one of my favorite tropes so I am reviewing with this hias in mind*
