Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC of this book to be newly released in paperback in exchange for my honest review. The Kindle and audio versions were previously released in February of 2018.
This book was almost like three books in one. First, you have the abduction of the groom the night before his wedding. How they find him, rescue him ... that's book one.
Money, power, business and family. Those things don't always work together but it's worth the fight to make it happen ... that's book two.
Frankie & Aiden. Terribly mismatched from the start. Yet, perfect for each other. Frankie and her sassy mouth made me laugh throughout the book. So funny, so honest, so everything. Aiden has raw emotions fighting to come out of him that he doesn't know what to do with ... that's book three. Oh, and did I mention the heat, the sex?
All that to say, read this book!! It has it all and then some!!
A romantic comedy with likeable characters and witty comebacks. The story was a little quirky and unbelievable but was sweet and pulled me in as a reader. The book almost felt like it could have been two parts as the beginning of the book felt vastly different than the second half of the book, but it did set the story for the characters. The characters were likeable and funny and their story continued to pull me until until I read the whole book in one sitting!
The Worst Best Man is a fun filled laugh out loud storyline filled with quirky well developed interesting likeable characters with a smooth flowing easy to follow entertaining plot Lucy Score always delivers a dang good story.
I received a copy of this book via of Booksprout and I am voluntary leaving a review.
Oh my gosh queen Lucy does it again with another unputdownable romance that I literally did not want to stop!
I generously received a copy of this eARC from Bloom via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I thought this was a new title, but discovered after reading it that it's actually a re-release with new cover art and was first published in 2018. The first 45% of the book was extremely cringe and I would have DNF'd it if I didn't feel obligated to give a review. Several of the side characters were truly awful, and the ridiculous kidnapping plot was one of the dumbest things I've read in a romance book in a long time. Thankfully the book did get better around the halfway point. It has the saucy banter, spice, and strong FMC that we've come to expect from Lucy Score. Overall I didn't like this book but based on how great the ratings are on Goodreads my opinion is clearly in the minority.
Unfortunately, this book read like fanfiction (and not in the best way!) The writing style would be perfect for an audience whose age range unfortunately makes them unsuitable to read this book (given its mature scenes.) The beginning felt incredibly rushed and I wish there had been more show and less tell during exposition. Not my cup of tea— despite loving the tropes—but if you like Lucy Score this book might be yours!
The Worst Best Man is another of Lucy Score’s romance novels that is being re-released by Bloom Books. I’ve read quite a few of Score’s books but this one had slipped under my radar so I’m grateful to Bloom for bringing it to my attention. I devoured this book in a day and just couldn’t get enough of Aiden and Frankie!
If you know me, you know I love a main character who is an underdog and so Frankie had my whole heart right from the start. She’s a Brooklyn girl working two jobs while also putting herself through school to earn her MBA. Somehow along the way, Frankie becomes best friends with a New York socialite and is serving as her maid of honor at a destination wedding in Barbados when the story opens. Frankie is out of her element and surrounded by a wedding party full of vapid mean rich people, but she is a loyal friend and determined to make sure her friend’s wedding is picture perfect, even if it means playing nice with the best man Aiden, who she cannot stand.
The sparks between Frankie and Aiden were what immediately drew me into this story. Aiden is ultra rich and the COO of his family’s corporation. He’s also one of the most eligible bachelors around but has yet to find any woman who he wants to be around long-term. That is, until he encounters Frankie. He shouldn’t want her since they’re from vastly different worlds, but there’s just something about her that he can’t resist, although he initially puts his foot in his mouth by implying she dances like a stripper and having her overhear him saying it.
When the groom is kidnapped the night before the wedding, Frankie is forced to team up with Aiden to find him. They soon realize they have more in common than they ever could have imagined and that they have major chemistry, no matter how hard Frankie tries to resist it. I loved the hilarious banter between these two, as well as the spicy moments that ensued once they stopped resisting their attraction to one another.
My only complaint was that it felt like the book ran a bit long because there’s just a lot of family drama. Other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed The Worst Best Man and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to fans of enemies-to-lovers and to anyone who enjoys billionaire romances.
I will forever recommend Lucy's books! Everything she puts on the page is pure gold. With The Worst Best Man, I went into it thinking it would be a simple rom-com and got that plus so much more. This one had adventure, agnst, and Aiden (who is my new top "book boyfriend"). I can't wait to continue working my way through all of Bloom Books.
Lucy Score strikes again with this cute and steamy wedding rom-com! Given the title I expected the book to take place at a wedding but really the wedding was just the start! Frankie is the maid of honor at her best friend’s tropical wedding, but what happens when she sees the groom get kidnapped before the big day?! Can she solve the mystery with the help of the best man? The chaos of the wedding was hilarious and that’s just the beginning of the story as Frankie gets back into normal life after the wedding with a new “boyfriend” in tow! Enemies to lovers and fake dating fans will enjoy 💒👰♀️🤵♂️
Thank you NetGalley and Sourcebooks Bloom Books for a providing me a copy of this book!
If you’ve read Lucy Score before, you know she has a knack for a bit of banter and a lot of spice. This one is no different. This book made me BLUSH, and there were parts that had me cackling. It’s not a slow burn; I got about half way through and wondered what the rest of the book was about. The storyline was long (not in a bad way), but I felt like the end was rushed and finished abruptly. It’s a light beach read and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Thanks netgalley!
I can always count on two things with a Lucy Score book. First, it’ll be full of heart and laughs and second it will be 10-20% too long.
The Worst Best Man is a billionaire romance that starts as enemies to lovers with some forced proximity as Frankie and Aiden find themselves as best man and maid of honor in their friend’s wedding. When the groom is temporarily kidnapped, Frankie and Aiden are the only ones sober enough to remedy the situation and that togetherness builds lots of sexual tension between them. Come about 40% into the book, Frankie and Aiden are back home in New York where Aiden wants to change is bachelor ways and be all in with Frankie but she can’t see herself as arm candy for a billionaire. Throw in plenty of class and family dynamics, and you’ve got yourself an enjoyable and tender romance novel.
I thought Frankie and Aiden had great chemistry, and Aiden was especially swoon worthy. I did agree with her brothers that Frankie was a bit of an ice queen toward Aiden for most of the book and I wanted to see her thaw out a bit more than just the very end. Side note, Frankie’s brothers were awesome supporting characters. The heat in this book is well earned and steamy.
I voluntarily read a gifted copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Frankie is working 2 jobs while perusing her MBA so that she can afford to be apart of her best friend’s extravagant wedding as the maid of honor. During the engagement party, she meets Aiden, the best man and New York’s most eligible bachelor. From their very first interaction they hate each other.
Aiden has spent his life trying to live up to the expectations of his family name while surviving their ruthless and conniving ways. When he meets Frankie, he can’t understand why he is so intrigued by her.
While in Barbados for the wedding, someone kidnaps the groom. Frankie and Aiden have to work together to get him back in time to walk down the aisle.
I really enjoyed this book! It really reminded me of Crazy Rich Asians with the fancy wedding and the insanely wealth wedding party. I laughed out loud multiple times especially with Antonio, Frankie’s family and then later with “dressgate”. The banter was great and the spice was nice! Spice Level: 2.5/3 🌶️
Personally, I felt like this was 2 books in one; when they were in Barbados and then when they were in New York. I enjoyed both parts, however, it felt like the story was about to be finished right after the wedding but then we still had 60% of the book left.

Thank you NetGalley and Bloom Books for my digital copy of this rerelease so that I could share this honest review! The new cover is stunning! 🩶
Lucy Score writes a wonderful enemies to lovers romance between two people in their best friends wedding party — the grooms man of honor and the brides maid of honor. They have always generally disliked each other, and their differences don’t help. Aiden having money, while Frankie has none of that going on.
The witty, fun banter had me laughing, head over heels as they wore away at each other. Per some of her other books we somehow get entwined in several side plot lines that don’t necessarily need to be there, and some stereotypes that maybe were a little too over the top. However, her books are simply a blast to read and I will forever recommend her books
Thanks to Bloom books, Lucy Score, and Netgalley for the eARC!
3 stars.
I got through "The Worst Best Man" by Lucy Score rather quickly. I find her books are ones you don't want to put down, even if you're not totally entranced by them. This book felt similar and familiar to several of her other novels, but I understand this is a rerelease and likely came first. Still, it speaks to a bigger issue that all of her stories are... sort of similar?? This is an enemies-to-lovers story about the best man and the maid of honor at their best friends' wedding. They have always disliked each other, but slowly but surely begin falling for one another despite their very different backgrounds (he's a billionaire, she is not). Lucy Score knows how to write spice, and those scenes are very effective here. Main characters Frankie and Aiden have terrific banter and chemistry with one another. Their mutual loathing eventually turns into tender, loving, sweet moments where they understand each other on a different level. While I mostly liked this book, there's A LOT of stuff going on here. Several storylines do not need to be there and are a bit ill-fitting. This makes the narrative feel disjointed and way too long. Lucy Score's books are *always* way too long, in my opinion. This book has the potential to be VERY triggering to people with an ED/who are in recovery for ED as there is a lot of talk about weight, shaming, and even name-calling... it felt very anti-fat at times. It's also very anti-woman at times, pitting characters against one another. In fact, I am not realizing as I write this that this whole story is very, very judgy. All of the characters, all of their personalities.... very judgmental.
Thank you to NetGalley, Lucy Score, and SOURCEBOOKS Bloom Books for the complimentary ARC of this book. All opinions are my own. I was not compensated for this review.

This is my first Lucy Score book. I see this one is a re-release assuming since she was picked up by a publisher. I love the cover. It's just so pretty! And the idea of the story sounded fun and was bound to be amusing. I was right!
This is a light hearted enemies to lovers trope with some mystery and thrill woven into. the pages! The pacing is fast and furious. The situations are entertaining. And the burn between the FMC and MMC is delicious.
Frankie is a smart mouthed, independent woman who doesn't take talk from anyone! I love her spunk. She's driven and developed to show what she will do to go after what she wants. But she's also loyal and will do just about anything for those she loves. Aiden is cocky and closed off. Though I found these traits to be something he's built to keep others out. He doesn't find himself worthy of love, or doesn't have time for it. But Frankie changes that for him.
Score really made this story fun and lighthearted. I did struggle a bit with some of the plot moves she decided to make. I felt like she took what could have been the underlying fun of the story with the first plot line and resolved it way too quickly. And she definitely had some stereotypes I didn't necessarily agree with, though I understood her need to weave this into the story line for some characters in order to show sharp contrast.
Overall it was entertaining and I'd pick up another book from this author. Since this is an earlier work, I can only assume her writing has gotten better and her story lines have become tighter
Lucy Score strikes again. Another quick, spicy, and romantic story. I fell in love with all the characters and story line. Short quick chapters made this book fly bye.
Lucy score does it again , amazing story, fun and sweet. Definitely enjoyed a lot this set up . The tension on this two off the roof. Loved the enemies to lovers and wow fun . This was awesome
Lucy Score rules the world of developing angsty men who need some tough love, but know how to throw in some spice. The Worst Best Man will have you rooting for the underdog (Frankie) who has the strong will and smarts to make something of herself and make your heart clench for the “bad boy” (Aiden) as he learns how to open his heart. Starting the story off with a little kidnapping drama, throw in some fun friends, and crazy supportive brothers, and you get a fun, funny, and flirty read that is easily bingable.
Another incredible story by Lucy!
Epic location wedding gone a-rye, the groom is kidnapped and the maid of honor is to the rescue.
A grumpy sunshine best man who's a gazillionaire!! The story's so filled with suspense and fun adding a sassy fierce female MC, what's not to love? Bet you can't put this one down because you'll be too engrossed.
Such a fantastic book! Just when I was ready to mourn over “the ending”, a new story developed. I couldn’t put this book down. The characters were enjoyable and the bridesmaids’ personalities were hilarious!
