The Worst Best Man by Lucy Score offers a delightful blend of humor, romance, and wedding chaos. The bride and groom may be picture perfect, but the wedding party is an absolutely hilarious assortment of characters. With its engaging storyline and sharp dialogue, this book is a must read for lighthearted romantic comedy lovers!

Lucy Score is one of my favorite authors and when I was given an opportunity to read and review another one of her books, I was very excited. The Worst Best Man didn’t disappoint. This story was funny, had drama, and romance. There were good guys and bad guys. It really had it all. I loved Frankie’s personality. She is a strong woman who doesn’t take no for an answer. She fights for who she loves and what she believes in. Aiden knows what he wants and is cut throat to get it. The two of them take a chance on each other and sparks fly no matter how hard Frankie tries to stop it due to her fears of his world.
I love that I’ve been given an excuse this year to revisit a few of Lucy Score’s books that I’d read some time ago as they’re being published by Bloom. I tend to forget details about books shortly after I read them, but if I enjoyed them, I remember how they made me feel. It’s been like reading something new with satisfaction guaranteed.
I love Frankie as a character. She’s bold, she speaks her mind, and she stands up for herself. She’s also loyal to her best friend, Pru. She doesn’t feel like she fits in her world, but she shows up for her every time and works tirelessly to be there for her. Frankie also shows a lot of growth throughout the book with Aiden. She takes a good look at herself and what she’s been holding back, and she makes the changes she sees are needed. She’s frustrating in her stubbornness and self-preservation at times, but she’s real.
Aiden starts off appearing as a shallow, competitive, “I only want what I can’t have” driven man. Sure, he’s hot, but he gives only-in-it-for-the-chase vibes. That quickly changes when he finally catches Frankie and his whole perspective changes. He’s actually revealed to care quite deeply, he’s just never had an opportunity to show it outside of throwing money at people and things. I love the dynamic of the relationship he and Frankie create together, and at their hearts they are a lot more alike than different.
Because it’s a Lucy Score book, of course there are some wild, off-the-wall moments, like Pru’s groom being kidnapped the night before the wedding and the hijinks Aiden and Frankie go through to rescue him. It’s a total Lucy way of throwing the two of them into a unique forced proximity situation early in the book. It’s ridiculous, but it’s fun. Also guaranteed from a Lucy book: spicy, spicy spice. The woman knows how to write some electric chemistry.

Lucy Score’s writing just has this pull on you from the start. And she completely pulls you into these characters lives, feelings and emotions.
An adorable, swoony, just wonderfully entertaining read.
Everything this author writes is just pure magic!
Thank You NetGalley and Bloom Books for your generosity and gifting me a copy of this amazing eARC!
Lucy Score has quickly risen in the ranks of my favorite romance writers. Her books are witty, pee-your-pants hilarious, spicy, and swoony...this book was no exception. While the characters were not my favorite of hers, I appreciated how independent and spunky Franchesca was. Aiden was just okay as a main male character. Overall, good for a quick romcom read.
The worst best man. A romp between a billionaire and a Brooklyn girl. Fun and sexy this is the weekend read. We need
I had the opportunity to review this one and it was an absolute pleasure!
The playful banter in this enemies to lovers is so enjoyable. I found myself smiling or laughing while reading this one.
The romance is spot on and Lucy does what Lucy does and she does it perfectly! This book doesn't disappoint! It is hands down one of my favorites that she's written!
Franchesca is my kind of girl. She’s a smart-mouthed girl from Brooklyn and she tames the most eligible bachelor! From the first moment they met he couldn’t get her out of his head. I loved her family. The chemistry between Aiden & Frankie was out of this world. Can’t wait to read more from Lucy Score!
Thank you NetGalley and Bloom Books for the arc of this book.
Loved this book! Lucy Score is so good at writing books that feel like the best rom com movies. You'll laugh, cry, and fall in love with the characters over the course of the book. And her FMC's are always so relatable!
loved this enemies to lovers and loved that they were friends of the bride and groom. loved the romance and that they worked as a team and finally found each other. loved her brothers
This story was certainly an enjoyable one, and I was drawn in by the premise. And while Lucy Score's stories are usually a hit or miss for me, I have always enjoyed her writing style!
Frankie certainly started off as a likable FMC, devoted to her best friend's happiness, fond of her family and fiercely protective of those around her.
Aiden was the atypical billionaire MMC. While most would veer mysterious, he was refreshingly open and honest about his feelings and limitations, albeit on one specific subject, but I'll get back to that.
They start off as proverbial "enemies", bound together by their best friends who are getting married. Aiden is clearly jaded and cynical about love, and Frankie gives him a run for his money with her witty comebacks.
Their "relationship" really takes off when the groom, Chip, is kidnapped. And unfortunately, this is where Frankie's character took a turn for the worse, at least in my opinion. It was almost as if protective and loyal Frankie just disappeared, and in her wake was left the untrusting, skeptic that Aiden for some weird reason decided to put up with. She could not see past their surface level differences, and continued to use them as excuses to keep him at arm's length.
Even when they finally agreed to go "all in" on their relationship, she still held onto her preconceived notions and had one foot out the door. The last straw for me is when she blew up at Aiden when she found out what he'd been keeping from her all those years. And the best/worst part is, no one but Frankie was offended by it, because it had happened so many years ago. She used his mistake against him and pushed him away for good.
Of course, this is a rom-com, so they finally figured sh*t out and got back together. But, I would argue that she didn't deserve Aiden. He'd been devoted, loyal and had stood by her despite all of the backlash and opposition that came with it. All she'd done was keep him at arm's length and doubt his every move. But, I digress.
The one person who had them figured out was Pru. Seriously, she should win an award for being the only person that truly called Frankie out on her sh*t. She was the most realistic character, and in many ways, the most likable.
3 ⭐️ because while the storyline was quite interesting, Frankie was not.
I love this story! It's the perfect blend of wonderful character development, witty banter, humor, and heat.
This is the story of Frankie, who is from Brooklyn, working on her MBA and working extra jobs to pay for the expenses in her best friend, Pru's destination wedding. While there, she meets the best man, Aiden, who is a most eligible billionaire who drives her crazy. But then she sees Chip, the groom being kidnapped, and she and Aiden work together to find him. This begins the amazing banter and connection between these two.
This story pulled me in and didn't let go. I also love how Lucy Score adds in real issues and how both genders should handle them so seamlessly. It is a definite buy now. I highly recommend it.
Yet another wonderful book from Score. This book is a hilarious adventure between Aiden and Frankie. Frankie is the MC everyone loves. Strong willed, funny. and a bit of a mouth on. Aiden is your swoonworthy billionaire. I love the banter between the two characters, and hope Aiden was open about what he wanted.
Frankie is the strong, smart-mouthed, quick witted best friend we all love and want beside us. She will NOT let anything or anyone ruin her best friend's wedding including the rich best man, Aiden.
Aiden has never done long-term relationships. No one has ever held his attention more than a couple months. He was so used to dating the prim and proper, superficial women that Frankie and her smart-mouth was such a huge challenge to him. They end up spending time together to make sure nothing stops their best friend's wedding from happening and sparks fly but not without some bumps in the road.
It's a spicy romance you don't wanna miss out on reading.
Thank you Lucy Score, SOURCEBOOKS Bloom Books, and Netgalley for the ARC!
Sometimes you just need a good romance book where neither character is looking for love! Having never read anything by Lucy Score (obviously I’ve been living under a rock) I was surprisingly charmed by this story. Just enough spice, laughter and romance to make it a good read for me!
This was pure perfection and had everything I want in a romance! This even had an extended epilogue! I was hooked by the very first encounter and couldn’t stop reading. I love these two characters so much, especially all the banter!
Frankie and Aiden's book is a lot of laughs and lighthearted fun. You will laugh out loud, you will root for Aiden to win Frankie's heart and you will turn these pages fast to get to their HEA. Aiden has never met anyone like Frankie, someone who doesn't care who he is, or how much money lines his pocket. And even know that about her doesn't stop her from defending him from the worst of his family. Frankie shows Aiden love in a way that he's never seen before and watching their love story unfold was so much fun!
This is my Third Lucy Score book. I love her writing. However there are some tropes she does better in different books and series. This one was good however. I feel Knockemount had the whole enemies to lovers and fake dating done the best.
I enjoy Lucy Score. Like her Knockemout books, The Worst Best Man has great banter, good spicy scenes, and a nice romance. Also like the Knockemout books, it’s a little longer than it needs to be. I liked this book. It just isn’t a favorite. It should be noted that this book is a rerelease with a new cover, not a new or updated story. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for sending this book for review consideration.
The Worst Best Man by Lucy Score
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐ (3 stars)
Alright, diving into Lucy Score's "The Worst Best Man" was quite the journey, to say the least. While I found myself enamored by certain elements, there were aspects that left me scratching my head.
Let's kick things off with Frankie. Oh, Frankie! She's the kind of protagonist that lights up the pages with her wit and spunk. Every time the narrative veered towards chaotic territory, Frankie's sharp humor acted like a beacon, pulling me back in. Her vibrant personality and relatable quirks made her not just likeable, but downright lovable. Score truly nailed her character, giving readers a strong anchor amidst the book's tumultuous waters.
However, speaking of tumultuous, the pacing of this novel was, well, a rollercoaster. Imagine trying to keep track of ten different storylines in a span of 400 pages—that's precisely how it felt. While I'm all for keeping readers engaged, there's a fine line between a riveting plot and an overwhelming one. The sheer number of events, twists, and turns left little room for the story to breathe. I often found myself wishing for a more measured approach, allowing key moments to unfold organically rather than being rushed.
Now, shifting gears to romance, I've got to hand it to Score—the billionaire trope was well-executed. The magnetic pull between Frankie and Aiden was palpable, sprinkled with moments of tension, tenderness, and undeniable chemistry. These moments provided a welcome respite from the book's frenetic pace, offering readers a glimpse into a passionate and complex relationship.
Yet, for all its romantic allure, the main storyline felt somewhat disjointed. Amidst the whirlwind of events, the core narrative seemed to lose its footing, leaving me wanting more depth and cohesion. While individual scenes sparkled with emotion and intrigue, tying them together into a cohesive story proved challenging.
And let's not forget that ending. Now, I'm all for whirlwind romances, but Frankie and Aiden's rapid trajectory from dating to marriage left me a tad bewildered. In a narrative already brimming with events, their accelerated relationship timeline felt like a shortcut, robbing readers of a more nuanced exploration of their love story.
I just reviewed The Worst Best Man by Lucy Score. #NetGalley
