I just really couldn't get into this one. It's not terrible by any means but the characters kind of annoyed me and I really didn't like the love interest (I should note I always have a tendency to dislike lucy score's love interests)
This book is being re-released, but this is my first time reading it. THE WORST BEST MAN could have received a 5-star rating from me except there are two parts to the story and they seem quite disjointed.
THE WORST BEST MAN starts at a tropical destination wedding. The entire vibe is light, funny, madcap rom-com. There's even a hint of romantic suspense (not mad about it). The main characters have a disastrous meet cute, are thrown together, and there is chemistry for says.
Then the wedding ends and they return to real life and a completely different book unfolds. It feels oddly written. I would have loved a drawn out funny rom-com. And I would have loved a broody opposites attract smut-fest. But splicinmg them together felt awkward.
Having said that, THE WORST BEST MAN has a truly great female lead. I adored her zero fucks given attitude and total confidence. And I came to love the male lead with his secretly mushy center. And the steam, bitches. THE STEAM. Very Lucy-Score-esque filth and I loved every second of it.
THE WORST BEST MAN is a great book that gives you a bit of reader whiplash, but is still totally worth the read.
SPICE:: Rated NC-17 / 5+ sex scenes, harsh language. *MIGHT* include props/bondage.
CONTENT WARNING: none
FEELS: 2/5 - A bit of drama, but still a pretty light read
The reason why some reviewers didn't always love The Worst Best Man is exactly why I enjoyed it so much. It's way over the top, shallow fun. It features a poor-ish college student, Frankie, and a kazillionaire, Aiden, who are instantly attracted to each other but want nothing to do with the other. Their best friends' wedding is what throws them together and the shenanigans began. They snark and snipe and poke at each other, as well as laugh and enjoy the other's company. Of course they shouldn't work, and of course, they do. I love how they fall for each other, they support and protect each other, and how the overcome things to end up together.
All in all, a light, fun read.
Lucy Score has done it AGAIN! I am absolutely obsessed with The Worst Best Man. It will make you laugh out loud and swoon at the same time. I love the sparks and the sass of FMC Frankie. And Aiden, just wow Aiden 😍 Their banter is terrific. Love the chemistry between the two of them. I love her writing style, it makes the book flow and move quickly. No boring parts at all in this book! Another 5 star rating from me for a book by Lucy!
Lucy Score is an author that I will buy without reading the description. I did not know anything about this book before reading it and I was sucked in by the end of the first chapter. I can't wait to see what else she publishes in the future.
This is just a classic, funny, and heartwarming Lucy Score book. I don't really think you can go wrong with any of her novels!
Ugh Lucy strikes again!
Every single one of her books is easily 5 stars. The first 25% of this book was full of fun hijinks and then comes the enemies(ish) to lovers part of the book. Let me tell you, Aiden is top tier. Frankie is a force to be reckoned with and they both balance each other out so well while still having some of the best banter between two people.
1000% recommend this book!
Typical Lucy score book!! Lots of fun, banter, chemistry, spice and lovable characters you root for from the beginning. This book was essentially 2 parts, the beginning was more humorous and the 2nd half was more of the romance. Always a quick enjoyable read with Lucy Score!
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!
This book was just so cute and in typical Lucy Score fashion, it was funny and sweet while being delectably spicy! I loved being able to jump into this book and back into the world of Lucy Score. The characters were both fun and sweet, and their chemistry was written so perfectly.
I absolutely loved this book!
Thank you NetGalley for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
4.5 stars
Lucy always scores | Enemies to lovers | Fun, smart and witty | Fell in love with both main characters | A totally relatable mother-daughter relationship | A decent amount of spice | The first part feels like a slapstick comedy and is LOL funny
Thank you to NetGalley, Lucy Score, and Sourcebooks Bloom Books for providing this ARC.

Absolutely loved this book!! Lucy Score always does a great job with banter between the main characters! I love how Frankie always stood up for herself and knew her worth! I enjoyed seeing how Aiden fit in with her family so easily!
Thank you Netgalley for the ARC!
I really enjoyed the characters. I’m all for the super strong female who isn’t interested in falling in love.
I think the plot was a bit over complicated. A lot happens right in the beginning that you wonder where the story could possibly go from there. I think the story would have been better if it covered a shorter span of time and honed in more on fewer locations and characters.
I enjoyed most of the characters in this book, but overall very cheesy and found myself eye rolling quite a bit. Many of the scenarios were not believable at all. But definitely a cute, cheesy romance for Valentine’s Day!
Thank you so much to Lucy Score, Bloom Books, and NetGalley for giving me an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. I absolutely adored reading this book. I don't think a book has made me laugh as much as this one has in a very long time. The storyline was just absolutely comical at times, and our main character, Frankie, made it easy to love her. Her character made reading the hundreds of pages of this book worth it.
It's time for Frankie's best friend, Pruitt, to get married. One problem is that, as the maid of honor, Frankie is having to dig deep into her finances to afford everything she needs for Pru's wedding. Because Pru and her husband, Chip, come from very stable financial backgrounds, they are going all out with their wedding. Including a destination wedding with no expense spared.
Another wrinkle in this impending wedding is Chip's best friend and best man, Aiden Kilbourn. A bachelor that is wanted by many women, but not initially by Frankie after he made a bold statement about her at the pre-wedding party. Needless to say, Frankie and Aiden do not start off on the right foot, making everything leading up to the wedding tense between the two. However, they have to band together when Chip gets kidnapped the night before his wedding. Frankie just might be Aiden's undoing. One thing is that Frankie knows what she's worth and isn't afraid to be straight-forward; whether or not Aiden can handle that or even draw Frankie in will be the test.
Lucy Score's books are always a fun read. This one started off with a lot of action at the beginning with the groom being kidnapped and the best man and maid of honor trying to get him back before the bride realizes he is missing. Naturally an attraction between the two develops despite the MOHs claiming to dislike him. They eventually enter a relationship with the expectation that it will end at some point. Unfortunately real feelings are thrown into the mix and past hurts and insecurities might just get in the way.
Cute romantic comedy. I enjoyed the banter between the main characters. The humor in their comebacks made the banter so much better. I wasn’t a huge fan of the side characters but sometimes that makes me enjoy the story more.
Lucy Score does it again!
This author has quickly gained a spot in my auto-buy list! Her well done story plots, character developments, and heartfelt emotion really draws me in. Bonus: the spice is always so good!
This time around - Franchesca "Frankie" is the maid of honor at her best friend's wedding. She really loves her best friend - and her soon to be husband. The rest of the wedding party.... not so much! They are everything she hates: rich, shallow, and vapid. Which leads us to the worst of them.... the best man - Aiden. He is rich, successful, and a great guy (unbeknownst to our leading lady). Our two main characters find themselves clashing, and when they learn they have to work together to save their best friend's wedding... things get interesting.
While these two couldn't be more different, there is no denying the sparks that fly between them. I love that Frankie is always her authentic self, and that Aiden is the type of strong male that can handle it (iykyk).
This fun, witty, and spicy read was everything that I needed this winter. 10/10 recommend giving this one a try!
4.5/5
I really enjoyed this book, more than I was expecting to! I was a little thrown off from the beginning with the kidnapping plot line. It just seemed a little random and was not sure how it was going to fit into a romance book. However, I was pleasantly surprised at how Lucy Score worked this plot point into the rest of the book. After that, I absolutely loved getting to know Aiden and Frankie. I truly loved both of the main characters and their story.
The Worst Best Man is an absolute blast to read! Imagine a wedding party straight out of a comedy nightmare, with a Best Man who's more trouble than he's worth. Franchesca, our no-nonsense Maid of Honor, is on a mission to save her best friend's big day from disaster, even if it means facing off against the charming yet commitment-phobic Aiden. Their banter is electric, their chemistry undeniable, making this rom-com a page-turner from start to finish.
With hilarious moments, unexpected twists, and a cast of characters you'll love to hate, "The Worst Best Man" is the perfect pick for anyone craving a fun, heartwarming read. Trust me, you won't be able to put it down.

I really like Lucy Score's writing in the Knockemout series, so I was excited for the opportunity to read this one. This book started off great, but 3/4ths through I started losing interest and it started to drag. Frankie is a dynamite character, but was starting to annoy me as the story progressed. She comes off as a "pick me girl" as the youths say. Aiden did not seem like a swoon worthy love interest, just another untouchable bachelor who never wanted to settle down and I was ok with that. I can tell the evolution of writing from the author, which she continues to get better at. I received an ARC through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
