Lucy Score's books always make me laugh and that was definitely the case in The Worst Best Man! This was such a fast and easy read. YES, I know Lucy's books look thick, but they always read incredibly fast. If you're looking for a slow burn romance, that will also have you laughing with plenty of adventure and a plot that keeps you interested - this is the book!
Thank you to Bloom Books. Lucy Score, and NetGalley for sending me an eARC of The Worse Best Man in exchange for my honest review.
The Worst Best Man follows Frankie, who at the beginning of the book, is doing everything in her power to give her best friend the wedding of her dreams. However, Frankie is faced with several issues, the bridesmaids are questionable, the groom is kidnapped, and she hates the best man, Aidan. At the wedding, she and Aidan discover that there is a fine line between hate and lust, something that they end up exploring. After the events of the wedding, Aidan is determined to keep Frankie, but Frankie still wants nothing to do with Aidan, a fact she is not willing to budge on.
I struggled with the first 150 pages of this book because I thought the entirety of the book was surrounding the wedding. This is largely due to the summary of the book that is provided, something I recommend not reading before going into it. Once I realized that there was so much more to this book, I started to get into it a lot more. I loved the dynamic between Aidan and Frankie. While they experienced passion right away, it took them a while to hit the point where it could be considered love, which made the journey feel real. There are several layers to this book and to the characterization of these characters, which Score does a great job exploring. The one question I still had at the end was why were those girls bridesmaids? It did not seem like the bride even liked most of those women so what was the point? While it does not take away from the book, there is a part of me that wishes there was a greater explanation for the selection of the other bridesmaids.
Frankie and Aiden meet at a mutual friend's wedding, there is a series of mishaps along the way. quick easy read
This was not for me. I found all of the characters so insufferable. The male protagonist, Aiden, is a very stuck-up finance bro who thinks he can get any girl he wants, whenever he wants and for however long he wants. He literally said, "I'm not going to stop until you give me what I want...I'll push your buttons, manipulate you." - if he's not a walking red flag I really don't know what is. The female protagonist, Frankie, seems not to have any other thoughts other than how hot Aiden is but how she shouldn't want him. I get it - this is supposed to be a "fun" romance, but it wasn't doing it for me. On top of all of this, the author decided it would be fun to add a little bit of a mystery aspect to the first half of the book and while it was fun, it didn't add much to the book as a whole. This is the third book I've read by Lucy Score and I think that she just might not be for me.

That wasn't my favorite Lucy Score read but after the Knockemount series, I feel like it's really hard to beat. I just found several of the characters unlikable and not in a good way. After I got past the beginning, the book grew on me much more.
Feel good, laugh out loud, lovable romance. I really enjoyed this one by Lucy Score and it brought all the feels.
I had a bit of trouble connecting with both of the main characters. I didn't really understand why they liked each other. I typically don't like insta-lust and while the couple didn't instantly act on that attraction, I didn't think they really were into each other either.
I could have done without all the family pressure to reproduce.
If you like typical romantic comedies or over the top/silly plots, this one is for you.
You know how the last 50% of a book reads much faster than the first 50%? Well, this entire book is that last 50%. I couldn't put it down. It starts with a normal meet cute of Aiden calling Frankie a stripper and her giving him whip lash with her verbal retorts. Add in a hilarious series of events, some steamy scenes, and a great cast of support characters and you have book gold.
The characters are relatable and I absolutely have Aiden in my top ten book boyfriends. Frankie has every emotion that a woman in her position would have. I love her protective streak and the lengths she'll go to for her friends and family.
This book was easily a one day read because I couldn't put it down. It gives off Pride and Prejudice vibes, which is great since it's one of my favorite books.
I didn't realize that this book was originally published in 2018; I am not sure why there is a new publishing date of 2024; perhaps a different format is being released.
That being said, I did enjoy this book. Some of the characters were a little too over the top for my preference, and others were a little too stereotypical, for a quick, spicy read, this hit the spot.
If you don't want to take things too seriously, give this one a go.
In the latest riveting novel from the #1 New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of Things We Left Behind, the wedding of the century takes a thrilling turn. The bride and groom exude perfection, but the rest of the party? Nightmares in the making. Enter Maid of Honor Franchesca Baranski, a force to be reckoned with. From handling a kidnapped groom to taming the entitled and rude, she's on a mission to ensure her best friend's special day goes off without a hitch. The Best Man, Aiden Kilbourn, may have a big attitude and an even bigger checkbook, but Franchesca won't let him ruin the festivities, no matter how sexy he is. With sparks flying and a battle of wills, this novel promises a rollercoaster ride through love, drama, and unexpected connections. Get ready for a page-turning romantic escapade that will leave you eagerly anticipating the next chapter.
I LIve for Lucy’s writing I wanted to give this book 5 stars but I just couldn’t the story line was good but I push the mmc would have felt more fleshed out over all the story was good just wanted more
I really loved this crazy story.
Frankie and Aiden are hilarious, sexy, fun and from totally different places in life.
Meeting at their mutual friends wedding. These two are pushed together in the wedding party.
Their chemistry is off the charts but nothing else seems to fit.
Every kind of adventure happens between them. Some good some not. To help bring these two together. It's s a super addictive book that keeps you interested and flipping the pages to see what happens next, as fast as you possibly can.

A delightful and sometimes spicy romcom based on both sides of the tracks! What happens when your college roommate is from the other side of the tracks from where you come from? You become besties for life - and maid of honor at her wedding. Too bad that the best man is a tool until you fall for him. Great story that kept moving. Grateful to NetGalley for the read!
This book was awful. I couldn't finish it. I can't believe I read as much as I did. If new romance is this crass no thanks.
Normally, I don't love billionaire (gazillionaire?) romances, but I loved this couple! The first part of their story takes place at a destination wedding and has all of the makings of a rom com film. The story slows a bit from there, but Frankie and Aiden are just so darn likable that you'll want to keep reading, just to root for them and their HEA. This is a spicy and fun story!
Lucy deserves every single praise for this. Freaking PERFECTION. 10/10. This was just so so good. I couldn’t get enough of it and wanted a thousand more pages of this.
Thank you, Netgalley, for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Lucy Score once again writes strong, enjoyable female leads. Frankie is from Brooklyn and is not impressed by the rich. She knows her worth and value and does not compromise her values.
Enemies to Lovers is my favorite trope, and this story captures all the raw feelings of loathing. Frankie can’t stand Aiden’s pompous behavior and jumps to conclusions about his feelings.
The smut is spicy and frequent. Strong female lead and a man who is a master of business leads to a battle in the bedroom.
Two different worlds can lead to different expectations of a healthy relationship. The story flirts with borderline toxic behavior, but I don’t think it takes away from the romance.

Well that was the freaking cutest enemies to lovers romance I've read in a long time, possibly ever. Aiden and Frankie DO NOT get off on the right foot and things really just get worse from there... But somehow their spicy chemistry flips them one eighty and we find these two polar opposites falling head over heels in love with each other.
A half star is docked for the third act breakup and miscommunication. I really really wanted Aiden to be smarter than he was in those moments, but alas.
Frankie is who I aspire to be. She took no S from anyone, was who she was and had a smart mouth I couldn't get enough of. When she puts Jackie in her place?! So good.
This book made me laugh so much and swoon even more. I absolutely adored it.
I want to start by saying that I absolutely loved the Lucy Score Knockemout series so I was thrilled to receive a free advance reader copy of The Worst Best Man from the publisher in exchange for my review. It took me a few chapters to get into the story as I thought it started out kind of cheesy, but because of my familiarity with the author I pursued. I’m so glad I did because I was soon cackling at the witty banter back and forth between the main characters, Frankie and Aiden! This book was a five star read for me because it was the ultimate relaxation read. There was always something entertaining going on throughout the story so it was a very fast read. The book captures your attention straight away and the wedding event happens quickly. It also has a kidnapping event early on and an underlying mystery that was also present in the Knockemout series. I absolutely loved this story and highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a funny and entertaining story.

This was a treat of a read. One that I was not expecting.
It started off with a bit of a bang as the story takes off in Barbados for a destination wedding. Once that resolved within the first 25% of the story, I was worried that the rest of the story would lag. To my surprise, it did not. I was captivated with the rest of the plot to the end. Frankie, the FMC, was a breath of fresh air from all the doormat-type FMCs I have been coming across. She has a backbone, but can be stubborn at times. Aiden, the MMC, is determined and loyal to those he cares about. The side characters (i.e. Frankie's family) were great additions to the story. There is a third-act break-up, but I was satisfied with how it was resolved.
Overall, I enjoyed this story and would recommend for a good time.
