Frankie & Aiden will live in my head rent free forever 😍🫡
I can’t get over how GOOD this book was!! I don’t love 3rd person POV but it was manageable with this book since these characters and plot were incredible!!
Aiden is the typical billionaire, Frankie is a down to earth, hilarious, and true to her roots girl. You wouldn’t think these two would click, but HOLY CHEMISTRY!! 🔥
Kicking off the book with all the wedding chaos was gold and it really hooked my attention! I couldn’t put it down. I caught myself smiling and giggling so much through this book!! Their banter was top notch and I felt like I knew these characters by the end, which made my heart happy!!
The Worst Best Man was so entertaining, spicy, funny, heartbreaking & heartwarming all at the same time. 5 ⭐️ read from me!!
Thank you NetGalley & Bloom for the ARC!! 🫶🏻
I really liked this book. Frankie and Aiden had really good banter and relationship. Can't wait to read another Lucy Score book.
I generally enjoyed this book, but found that the power/money imbalance wasn't really addressed and I think that ultimately this couple would not find their HAE without a lot of therapy.
I was interested in reading this book because I have read other books by this author. This book had a slow start for me but I kept with it and enjoyed it. It had a good storyline, interesting characters, some mystery, romance, and a strong female heroine. This book made me laugh out loud a few times.
I thought this book was a lot of fun. It definitely took rom-com to a new level with the whole little kidnapping part, but it was the perfect winter escapism book.
One thing that bothers me about Lucy Score's books is her need to constantly have all of her female characters focused on food and weight, whether it's characters saying they need to lose weight/can't eat because they'll gain, or characters trying to prove how they're not the type to worry about what they eat. It's old and tired- can we stop, please?
Other than that, the book was a delight. Definitely spice - but skippable spice if you're not into that.
I loved this!! I loved the characters and found myself grinning the whole time I was reading. Super cute! Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I love Lucy Score books so I was very excited to read this and it did not disappoint! The wedding chaos was so entertaining and it really hooked me right away. Frankie and Aiden I thought had good chemistry and I really was rooting for them. The only negative compared to other Lucy Score books is I felt maybe I wasn’t as attached to their relationship but that could just be my opinion. Will be purchasing for our library.
Thank you so much to NetGalley and Bloom for an ARC of The Worst Best Man!
The Worst Best Man follows Francesca and Aiden, the maid of honor and best man for their best friend's wedding and all of the antics that follow.
First, I have to say I am not a fan of the 3rd person point of view. I much prefer the novels that Lucy Score has written in first person! I feel like I did not know the characters as well, and therefore was not as invested in their feelings. But putting that aside, I did think the story was super fun and it does pull the reader in!
I thought the entire first half of the book with the wedding was so entertaining, and I loved the chaos. I was a little worried about how the rest of the book would go with what seemed to be the main event being over, but I was pleasantly surprised!!
For the most part, I loved the banter between Frankie and Aiden, but there were definitely some points where Frankie was not a character I liked (but that was probably the point). It was a lot of "i'm not like other girls" and "i'm just one of the guys" and her constantly having one foot out the door got a bit frustrating/repetitive.
Despite it's flaws, I truly did enjoy this book and it had me kicking my feet and giggling at points! It was entertaining, spicy, funny, and heartwarming. 4 stars, definitely would recommend!!
This was my first Lucy Score read and it did not disappoint! I loved Frankie and Aiden’s story! I really enjoyed that the story went on so much past just the wedding and best man part and dove into the workings of how a relationship would work out between them. The story tied everything up perfectly!
Lucy Score does not miss! I loved this book right from the get go. Frankie is a hilarious, tough woman who has such a ball-busting attitude. She refuses to be treated like less just because she has less. Even though she is often looked down upon and talked down to basically during the entire book, she never let's that change who she is. It is extremely admirable and shows why she is so complimentary of Aiden.
Aiden is the ideal billionaire MMC. He is tough, but also just a little cinnamon roll. Right from the start he is totally smitten and obsessed with Frankie. He takes groveling to another level, and I love it. If Frankie told him to crawl he would be down on his knees so fast. He worships the ground she walks on, and the fact that he is the one with the "power" due to his wealth, yet Frankie is the one who yields it makes it that much better.
I feel that in many billionaire romances, the billionaire MMC is always a domineering and tough guy that has to go through this major character development in which he always hurts the FMC along the way, and halfway through the book the reader is thinking, "I guess he is hot, but he kinda sucks." That is so far from the case with this book and with Aiden. Aiden admits when he is wrong, and know when he might go to far. He thinks before he speaks and overall is a perfect match for Frankie. Plus, it sounds like he is an actual god in bed. This book is more about Frankie's character development and learning to be more open and trustworthy of people with her feelings.
The side characters were great, even the evil ones. I could not stop laughing that the quips that Frankie would come up with when people would get a bit too obnoxious or high handed. The pacing was great, and kept me hooked. When I first started reading I had no idea what direction the book was going in as it began with some insta love, which is atypical of Lucy Score books. Typically the spice does not begin until about 50%, but we were off to the races in this book, and I loved it!
Overall, this might be one of my new favorites from Score, which is tough to do since I would be obsessed with her grocery list.
Thank you Bloom Publishing and Lucy Score for a digital ARC of this book in return for an honest review.
One of the most underrated Lucy Score books of all time!
I love Frankie + Aid's story, from enemies to just one night to I'll try something I normally wouldn't... Frankie teaches Aiden what it's like to experience big, loud love with family who actually loves you. Aiden helps Frankie loosen her grip on controlling everything. He helps her step out to be this bold, beautiful woman she is (unrefined as all get out, but he just leans into showing her she's beautiful). It's perfect.
This book has adventures and plot twists, over the top billionaire romance grand gestures, pesky siblings, a missing groom story plot, some chasing, epic groveling, and a smackdown from our leading lady that I ADORE, with, of course, our usual Lucy steam.
This is one of my faves and I'm so excited to see it on all of the shelves! Thanks to Bloom Books for an advanced copy of this one on NetGalley. These are my honest thoughts!
The worst best man gives you everything you would expect from the title, a wedding themed plot, an enemies to lovers style tryst between the made of honour and best man, and lots of laughs and drama to boot.
Frankie absolutely adores her best friend despite them being in completely different tax brackets and financial lifestyles. So of course she says yes to being the made of honour, and completely immerses herself into the role taking on second jobs to pay her way, refusing any help from her much wealthier friend.
Frankie approves of the groom, but essentially puts up with the rest of the snobby elite bridal party. Including the best man, Aiden, who she entirely gets off on the wrong foot with.
However despite their disdain for each other, they are able to come together in the time of need to save the wedding when chaos and drama ensues. Spending time together initially grates their nerves, however they naturally begin to grow fond of each other over time.
There is a lot of smart and funny dialogue and steamy chemistry. I can find romance books hit or miss, and this one will be added to the “enjoyable but not phenomenal” pile. If you’re looking for a not so serious, funny cute read then this is definitely the one for you. I enjoy Lucy Score books in general, I am a fan of her writing style and quirky characters. Also the colour pallet on the new cover is phenomenal, I am loving the pastels.
Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Blook Books for the chance to read this book 🩷
“I’m going to kiss you,” he warned her. “And then we’re going to go inside and have lunch. And then I’m going to take you home and fuck you.” The thrill rushed over her as he reached for her. “Fine, but no tongue. You know my pants fall off when you do that.” He was grinning at her with something like joy. He laid a very chaste kiss on her mouth before pulling back. “How was that?” “My pants still want to fall off. Let’s get in your car and drive away and jump straight to the sex,” she suggested.
Looooooved. The end. Gimme all the Aiden and Frankie. This book was so cute, chaotic, and fun! Loved all the side characters and their shenanigans!
I thought this was going to be a book about a maid of honor and best man hate to love and I was fully okay with that but this book was so much more! I laughed out loud so many times. Lucy’s writing is genuine, so funny and relatable. Navigating college friendships as we age and of course parents and their never ending quest from grandchildren. The characters were so real and honestly the book brought a real smile to my face. The banter and tension between Frankie and Aiden was spectacular. I understand why Lucy Score is an autobuy author for so many people!
On a side note the names of the rich people had me cackling. This book is so much more than you expect and definitely worth every second.
Lucy Score has done it AGAIN! I am absolutely obsessed with The Worst Best Man. It will make you laugh out loud, swoon, and make you want to read Lucy’s entire backlist.
Franchesca is the maid of honor and she takes her duties seriously. Shee needs to make sure that the best man fall in line for the wedding.
I love the sparks and the sass. The banter is terrific. Love the chemistry between the 2 main characters. I love how it moves so quickly. No boring parts in this book! The characters are terrific. Lots of fun.
Thanks to the publisher for the arc.
The Worst Best Man started stronger than possibly any novels I’ve ever read, engaging straight into the plot and these amazing characters. It then slowed a bit once they left the Carribeans—and that’s the only reason I removed one star; because I was hoping for that pace and laugh-out-loud scenes to go on forever. Still, great story, compelling and very likable set of characters, and amazing writing.
What a fun story! This book starts out action packed with an abduction of Frankie’s BFF’s groom. Then you get the story of Frankie and Aiden trying on their relationship for real. Aiden is a big marshmallow and I loved him.
NetGalley advance -
I didn't realize it was a rerelease (I like the new cover) and I had it sitting in my kindle in the TBR already!
This was a fun, fast-paced, cute story. I liked the adventure of the first half and the funny and cute family story lines in the second.
I generally enjoyed this book, but found that the power/money imbalance wasn't really addressed and I think that ultimately this couple would not find their HAE without a lot of therapy.
