Love a small town book. This one is set in North Carolina. Its also about second chances which one of my favourite tropes. Loved the relationships and highly recommend.

Thank you so much for the ARC!

This was a super emotionally in depth book! I really enjoyed getting to know these characters, and honestly the sports portion was enjoyable also. There was a bit too much of it in my opinion, and I will not lie and say i did not skim through some of the sport portions/games. I love me a second chance romance though, and this gave what it needed to! I love a book where relationships (even those not romantic) are at the forefront. This book gave a lot of insight into the different relationships and the importance of each.

The beginning was great, and it was easy to get into but then it began to drag, with too many unnecessary scenes of baseball games with his family and his patients, it also began to feel a little holier than though.
I got to 40% but just couldn’t read any more as other than introducing the characters who would be the love interest it just didn’t feel like the story was going anywhere.
Having said that I do like Joey Jones writing and would keep an eye on other written by them as I wonder if it is perhaps just this one, and in part is because I can’t relate to being a male volleyball player.

Along the Dusty Road by Joey Jones was an incredible story.
A very compelling story of an unexpected love and a surprising second chance.
I enjoyed the characters here and thought Jones did an excellent job at bringing them to life.
His writing kept me glued to pages and eager to read just one more page.

I would like to thank NetGalley and Callahan for the opportunity to read this ahead of its publication date in return for my honest review.

ALONG THE DUSTY ROAD is a sweet yet tragic love story. I liked how important relationships were in this story, not just between Luke and Emily, but also Luke and Ayden, Luke and his father, and the clients of Luke's. It was nice to see how much of an impact Luke's father had and still has on him as Luke goes on with life. Even though Luke and Emily were in twenty-six years, I appreciated how emotionally mature and communicative they are with one another. Luke doesn't think he can be a stepdad to Ayden, but with a good head on his shoulders and a good moral compass, he's just the man to role model for Ayden. I was not expecting the twist at the end.

Thank you to Callahan and NetGalley for the arc in exchange for my honest review.
