Very creative. Easy to read. Drew me in.

The characters were easy to relate.

An over all fun read.

I really wanted to like this one since it was an anticipated read for me. It started off decent but as things quickly go on there is just so much going on that it was hard to piece everything together. It left me wanting less plot points. I also wasn't a huge fan of the writing and I think that is what also caused me to not be able to enjoy the story.

Evie Wilder is an orphan who has gone through most of her life unnoticed, blending into the shadows like a wisp of smoke. But everything changes when she's caught up in a dramatic heist and her unique ability to turn invisible is revealed. This talent catches the eye of the Dark Fable, a legendary group of thieves who specialize in acquiring obscure and occult artifacts.

Evie, yearning for a sense of belonging and purpose, can't resist their allure. She's eager to join this unconventional family of rogues and uncover the secrets they hold close. But as she delves deeper into the Dark Fable's past, she discovers that their history is riddled with more skeletons than a forgotten crypt. These buried truths might be the key to unlocking the mysteries surrounding Evie's own tragic past.

No one is who they seem to be, and the price of untangling the Dark Fable's cryptic history just might be fatal.

What I loved:

The fast-paced and suspenseful plot: The story is packed with thrilling heists, daring escapes, and unexpected twists that will keep you glued to the pages.
The intriguing world-building: The author creates a richly imagined world filled with magic, danger, and a touch of dark glamour.
The complex and relatable characters: Evie is a sympathetic protagonist with a hidden past and a fierce determination to find her place in the world. The supporting cast is equally well-developed, each with their own secrets and motivations.
The dark and atmospheric setting: The story takes place in a world where shadows hold secrets and danger lurks around every corner, creating a palpable sense of suspense.
Minor quibbles:

The world-building, while intriguing, could benefit from a bit more exposition in certain areas.
The ending, while satisfying, leaves some plot threads unresolved, hinting at the possibility of a sequel.
Overall:

The Dark Fable is a captivating and suspenseful fantasy novel that will appeal to fans of Six of Crows and other YA fantasy adventures. With its fast-paced plot, intricate world-building, and relatable characters, this is a book that you won't want to put down.

Recommendation: Highly recommended for fans of strong female protagonists, magical heists, and dark and atmospheric fantasy.

Wow, I don't know what I was expecting but not this. First of the writing is fantastic and sucks you in right away. That being said, there are A LOT of characters and things happening from the jump which can be a bit distracting. I had to reread a few areas to make sure I was catching everything. However, STICK WITH IT! It's a really unexpectedly exxciting dark YA fantasy with morally grey characters and a story that'll keep you on your toes.

I really, really wanted to read this book asap. Unfortunately I couldn’t get it on my kindle and I can’t read on my phone or laptop as it gives me a headache from eye strain. But I do hope to read this one when it releases. It sounds so amazing.
