Lovestruck is a standalone novel by Julie Capulet.

Elias O’Shea is a senior at Hawthorne University, and he’s the star quarterback. He’s basically a celebrity on campus. All the girls wanted him, or more accurately, they wanted to sleep with him and he gladly obliged. He had countless one night stands, earning himself a reputation. But for the past six months, he just hasn’t been into it. The girls throwing themselves at him just didn’t pique his interest, and he no longer hooked up with them. He’s been thinking more and more about his parents’ relationship. Once they saw each other, they just knew that they were the one for each other, and that’s what he wants too.

Zara Fox is leaving home to go to college, though she isn’t going far. She is attending Hawthorne University as an incoming freshman and majoring in art. She’s not one to go out much, and she has a very close relationship with her dad, which is why she didn’t want to go to college too far away. Her dad loves football and just so happens to be the coach for the university’s team. His one rule for her? Don’t date any football players. Being that she’s shy and doesn’t much care for football, she believes that will be an easy rule to follow. But once she meets Elias…well, she ends up breaking his rule.

Wow, this was truly an insta love book. I mean, there’s usually the characters seeing each other and loving each other instantly, but they still hold back a little before getting to the “I love you”. But this? Nope. No hesitation, especially on Elias’s part. Once he saw Zara, that was it for him. He knew nothing about her, not even her name. It was truly as if he had been struck by Cupid’s arrow. In fact, he was crazy in love with her. Literally, he seemed to be out of control of his actions when it came to her because he just wanted to be with her, regardless of any consequences.

While Zara was a little hesitant when it came to Elias, it wasn’t because of him. It was more so because she knew how her father would react. But she did give in to her feelings, and she eventually stood up for herself. Also, she became more confident and brave with her artwork because of Elias.

I will say that I thought it was odd how fast Elias got over something that he had to go home for. I thought he would be more distraught, but he didn’t really seem to grieve. It was as if he had a one-track mind and could only think of Zara. I guess it made sense as she was always on his mind, but I still thought he’d at least be a little more upset.

Anyway, I really enjoyed Elias and Zara’s story, and I normally don’t like insta love. I thought they were so cute together, and both of them had parents with a similar love story, so they both wanted that instant and undeniable love. This was my first book by Julie Capulet, but it won’t be the last.

Lovestruck is the first book I have read by Julie Capulet. I liked the main characters, Zara and Elias and was able to suspend belief and enjoy their insta-love story. If you don't like love at first site (literally in this book) or YA love (she is only 18), this isn't the book for you. While those are not my favorite troupes, I did enjoy that part of this book. What I could not stand and what knocked this down for me was Zara's father (Elias' coach) using his power to ruin players. *Spoiler: If I have the timeline correct too, her mother had to have gone along with the ruination of the first young man that "crossed the line" with the coach's daughter. This actually really spoiled the book for me because I felt her father was a controlling jerk and the fact that she would immediately forgive him was actually unforgivable in my opinion. This book is only a 3.45 book rounded down to a 3. I am sorry for that. I do think the author has potential.

Elias! Swooning ! I love that this book is about the male character in the one to fall hopelessly in love first! I couldn’t put this book down!

The banter between Elias, west and. Gabe was my favorite! And Zara what a strong young female lead character.

This book was so much more than I expected. I can’t wait to read more by Julie Capulet

Thank you NetGalley and Juliet Capulet for this ARC of LOVESTRUCK. It was the sweetest Insta love sports romance that had all of my faves including - forbidden love, love at first sight and a possessive MMC + quirky FMC. I absolutely devoured this book in a few hours and loved that there was minimal angst, no cheating and the sweetest HEA! I really enjoyed this one! I was in the mood for a good football romance especially with the start of football season and I was not disappointed. it was such a good steamy and Osage turning romance. I loved the characters, the tie in of the coach, and how the story evolved. I definitely look forward to reading and reviewing more books from this author very soon!

I found this to be a mixture of say you swear and the deal. Not saying this isn’t a good book but it’s very very insta-love. I know it’s a play on soul mates however I instantly felt icky when reading Elias ‘s comments basically begging this girl to give herself to him. In real life if a guy came on that incredibly strong should be screaming red flags no matter how hot he is. I like when the stories I read that aren’t labeled fantasy are able to be realistic in some ways. This seemed very far from that. Its full of smutty scenes so if you want a quick smutty read this would fit the bill. This one just wasn’t my cup of tea.
