Chloe has been invited to her school reunion. After what happened 15 years previously, she is not keen to attend. She starts getting threatening emails NOT to attend, the anonymous person telling her that if she does, her secret will be exposed.
Chloe always had a crush on Nathan at school, and she decides to go to the reunion when she discovers he will be there.
An ultra quick read that I wasn't able to put down! Shalini Boland gets the blood pumping, and keeps the reader in high suspense throughout this book! The twists are never ending, the people you think are trustworthy - think again!
Truly, if you want a quick, heart pounding thriller, this is one you absolutely have to get!
Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
Wow! This one was very entertaining, all the way through to the major twist at the end. I did not see that coming at all! Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I enjoyed this book, but didn't feel that it was Shalini's best. There were a lot of characters to keep track of, and they were not especially likeable. And the twist at the end wasn't the shock I've come to expect from her. d
Welcome to the Reunion of the 2008 Graduating class of West Cliff School! It's time to dress up, brush up on your dancing skills, and reconnect with old friends and old loves. But what happens if a 15 year old secret comes out that has deadly consequences?
This was a fun read that I was able to finish fairly quickly. Shalini Boland can teach a master class on suspense and foreboding. I'm always down to read one of her books. Can't wait to read the next one.
Look out for this book from publishers, Thomas & Mercy, when it hits shelves on January 16, 2024. Thank you to NetGalley for allowing me to read this book early in exchange for an honest review.
Another great twisty read. I enjoyed the storyline. Thankyou netgalley.
Would recommend to others as I enjoyed this book alot
Shalini Boland has done it again with another fantastic gripping thriller which I could not put down. Would you attend a high school reunion recently divorced Chloe has that decision to make does she go and see if her old crush is there or will the past come back to haunt Chloe. This was a very gripping read which I read in one sitting could not put it down once I stared. It had many twists and turns and what a fantastic ending it was very unexpected. I highly recommend this and everyone of this authors book all fantastic and I would say this is one of my favourites. Thanks to netgallery and the publisher for my advanced copy.
Mysteries centered around elite schools are one of my favorite thriller tropes, so The School Reunion seemed like a perfect fit. Unfortunately, the pacing was too slow. I was hoping to be immediately pulled into the action, but it takes way too long to get to the actual reunion. Had the pacing been stronger, it probably wouldn't have ended up in my DNF pile.
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC of Shalini Poland's newest thriller, The School Reunion. Newly divorced, Chloe is hesitant about attending her high school reunion, especially when she receives an anonymous email urging her to stay away. After reconnecting with her two closest friends, and with the hope of getting together with her old crush, Chloe decides to take a chance. As her ex-boyfriend relentlessly pursues her and her old nemesis does everything to sabotage her night, Chloe comes face to face with the most unexpected of obstacles. The dramatic conclusion will leave you shocked and shaken to the core.
Shalini Boland does it again with The School Reunion! This is a fast paced thriller that has so many twists and turns and just when you think that you have it all figured out, Shalini does it again and throws it another twist. This book was gripping and left me breathless and on the edge of my seat the entire time. I was shocked throughout the entire book. I thought by the end that I knew what was going to happen and how it would end, and I was completely wrong and shook to the core with the ending.
I really liked the plot and the characters that you just love to hate.
Thank you for the opportunity to read this ARC copy. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Wow! Did not expect that twist! I loved the ending, was expecting something else and was completely thrown off. I liked the overall story, and the flow. I just wish there were less repetitions in some of the characters' inner dialogues. Otherwise, I really enjoyed it!
Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher and the author foe the advance reading copy!
The School Reunion by Shalini Boland is another gripping tale from an author who is an automatic read for me. If you have not had the pleasure of reading a Shalini Boland novel, do yourself a favour and pick one up immediately.
Chloe receives an invitation to her school reunion, though she is reluctant at first to attend. Fresh off a divorce and merely going through the motions of her life with no one to share it with have not been great motivation for catching up with the old gang from her school days. There is, however, the possibility of reuniting with Nathan Blake, her crush from fifteen years ago, so she decides that she will make the effort. As the reunion nears, though, some threatening emails begin to appear, warning Chloe off. Is there someone else who has a very specific reason for attending the reunion, perhaps someone with more sinister intentions?
This is a story that kept me glued to the pages from the very start. Ms Boland is masterful at weaving together a twisty plotline that will draw you in, then leave you gasping.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for an ARC.
Thank you, NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for the copy of The School Reunion by Shalini Boland. I find Boland’s books hit or miss and this was not a hit for me. I was bored by the long narratives about what people did, and the many things didn’t really make sense. If you love a surprise ending and some really good reveals, you will love this book.
Well there were a lot of twists, but none seemed believable. All the characters seemed like psychopaths. Just can’t recommend
I've enjoyed all the books I've read by Shalini Bolsmd before and this book was no different it kept me gripped right until the very end!
School reunions are so often fraught occasions, and for Chloe - the protagonist of this story - it was bound to be even more so, given her history with a trio of bullies who gave her a hard time at her elite school, as well as her past history with rich ex-boyfriend Chris, who is not used to being told "no".
Nevertheless, she decides to attend in the end - not least in order to move on with her life after her divorce from Ben. Chloe also dreams of meeting up again with Nathan Blake, her one-time crush from her schooldays, who has since moved to New Zealand, but will be attending the reunion.
This story is told in multiple POV, and works quite well as such. The second voice is of Dean Bradley, whose sister used to attend Chloe's school and who is currently in a dispute with Chloe's rich ex Chris. What neither Dean nor Chloe know is there is barely one degree of separation between them, even though they do not actually meet until the reunion...
Boland very successfully pulls off one major twist in her storytelling, even though I did see another, more minor twist coming. And the ending offers its own set of fireworks. This is a story best read quickly for maximum effect, but works quite well as an entertaining read.
Oh my....what a book!! Glad I never went to a school reunion. Great storyline that pulls you right in. The parts in italics I was so wrong who I thought it was. Definitely makes your head real when you get further into the book..
All I can say I wanted more...maybe a sequel to this one?? One can hope.
Shalini Boland is one of my favorite authors I ran over to request as soon as I saw this was out.
Thanks to the author, the publisher and Netgalley for an early release of this book.
For me this was an easy read, enjoyable popcorn thriller. The pacing was great and I really enjoyed the story. The twists weren't particularly surprising but I had a lot of fun reading it. The one thing that did blow me away was the ending - I really wasn't expecting it to end that way but it was brilliant.
