This story was charming and lighthearted, with a touch of swoon.
"Every moment of my day is spent the same way. Hour after hour. Minute after minute. I want you, always."
Paige Young and Cole Clark are sweet, awkward, snarky, and fancy the pants off each other! They get off on the wrong foot from their first meeting and then it's a frenemies type relationship between them until her job is threatened, and Cole knows he needs to step up, or lose her forever.
Paige is all personality and sunshine, and Cole is all buttoned-up suit (albeit in a gorgeous buttoned-up suit). I thought they were adorable together. She's witty and he's patiently amused. I loved their vulnerability but, once they were over the line, Cole was 100% committed and didn't care who knew about it. I loved that for Paige! This was an enjoyable, easy read.
I’ve read RS Grey before and have enjoyed her books, but this didn’t feel the same to me. I enjoyed bits and pieces of this story but other times I just felt like it was extremely slow and meh. I found the FMC to be immature. This story just wasn’t keeping my attention I wanted more from the characters.
3.5 to 4 Stars
This is one of those books that's hard for me to rate and review... There wasn't anything about it that I really disliked or hated, but I just didn't love it either. Honestly, my only complaint about this one is that is felt a little unorganized with jumping around in the timeline. I know it was part of the storytelling technique, which I honestly liked, it just could have used a little more ironing out, in my opinion. Other than that, it was an enjoyable read. I liked the story and the characters, and I liked the writing style. It just didn't blow me away.
It's marketed as enemies to lovers, and while they definitely intentionally pick at each other, it feels more in the name of avoiding their real feelings more than anything else, which I did actually enjoy, I just don't know if you can really call it enemies. I actually really enjoyed how Paige and Cole's relationship was portrayed and developed over the course of the book. It's probably my favorite aspect of the book, but I think it could have used a few more scenes, specifically from Cole's POV. A lot of the real development of their relationship happens before the book starts, so there doesn't feel like a whole lot of build up to the "I love you" moment, which didn't particularly bother me, but I could see how it might bother others. Again, I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it. I think it might be one worth checking out, but might not need to be at the top of your TBR.

*I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
R.S. Grey is always an automatic read for me. Never disappoints and I was excited to pick up this one up!
Lots of witty banter, an enemy to lovers storyline, and a beautiful setting. It's a quick, easy read and would make for a great summer read!
Thank you NetGalley and Montlake for an ARC.
The first half of this book was decent but it really went downhill in the second half and lost my attention. The couple was super instalove and didn’t have enough substance to make me care or root for them.
RS Grey just writes the most easy to follow along with romances. I find myself just sitting and enjoying a light fun read and the story one to speed through. It's like a light quick Sunday read, perfect for a sunny day on the porch type read.
Thank you Montlake for my gifted copy. All opinions are my own.
For me, there is just something so bingeable about an R.S. Grey book. This is my first by the author that wasn’t a sports romance, but I loved it just as much. This seemed like such a unique concept. I’m not sure that I’ve ever read a book set at hotel like that where it focused on the staff. From the beginning, I was pretty caught up in Cole and Paige and would definitely read more books in this universe.
I loved so much about this book! Cole falls first and although we don’t get his perspective as much, I eagerly awaited all of his chapters. Paige was just so fun. I would love to take an excursion with her. I loved the banter between Cole and Paige! They have an enemies to lovers vibe but Cole has always had a thing for her. There were some steamy moments. I loved the ending! I can’t wait for more books from R.S. Grey!
Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to receive this book for an honest review.
I enjoyed this book and the banter between the two characters. Friends-enemies, friends-lovers. The back and forth keep me wanting to find out how this would end.
Paige and Cole might be coworkers at the same beach resort but that is where their similarities end. Cole is a rule follower that always wears a suit, while Paige is happy to be outside leading groups in all sorts of excursions in the island.
I liked the premise of two opposite coworkers who hate each other but the execution of wasn't the best.
Thankfully (or not, depends how you see it ) a natural disaster forced them to share the same space and face some truths they both ignored up until that point. Unfortunately, the forced proximity came a bit too late, there wasn't much build up or a natural change from hate to love.
I found Paige very immature, her actions came in contrast with her words which made her an unreliable narrator.
The book is dual pov but the chapters aren't evenly distributed, so we only see part of what Cole is thinking. I did love the pining from this part but I also wanted him to act.
* I received an ARC and this is my honest opinion.
This book was so cute and unexpected!
Paige and Cole were complete opposites who got off on the wrong foot when they first met. Their banter was flirty from that moment, yet rocked an enemies-to-lovers vibe. A burning passion burned between them despite their seeming hate for one another. The pull between them is intense and undeniable. And just when you think things will finally happen between them or they might finally be getting along, the rug gets pulled out from under them....
I absolutely adored Their Last Resort. Cole is by the books and Paige is like a breath of fresh air. They mix as well as oil and water, yet the pull between them is undeniable. I loved their banter and their interactions kept me wildly entertained. I couldn't wait to see what would happen next and couldn't help but root for Paige and Cole to find their way to a happily ever after.
If I had to make any complaints about this story, it would be the pacing. Their Last Resort started slow, which I didn't mind too much, because I felt like it helped to set the stage and build the connection with Cole and Paige. However, once we reached the climax of the story, it felt like things went a little too fast and were rushed. I would have liked to see Cole and Paige's relationship develop a little more post-hurricane and see them fall for each other, especially after their rough start.
All in all, I found this book to be a really enjoyable read. I loved the plot and had fun getting lost in the characters. I had a great time getting swept up in Cole and Paige's story.
If you're a fan of flirty, enemies-to-lovers romances, you won't want to miss Their Last Resort.
Who doesn't love a swoony and heartwarming love story set in a beautiful island resort? Their Last Resort by R.S.Grey was an absolute entertainer. From a sassy, cute and free spirited heroine like Paige to a controlled, grumpy and secretly charming hero like Cole. From the hilarious and colourful secondary characters to the dream like setting. From the witty banter and flirting under guise of animosity to some real deep emotional moments. This was an unbelievable ride. I was enjoying myself so much that the low spice didn't even register.
Paige works as an adventure guide in a lovely resort in Turks and Caicos and Cole is the Assistant manager and her superior in a way. He is a bit controlling and exacting. Paige is complete opposite. And they are secretly attracted to each other. When a hurricane hit the island, they are forced to share a room at the hotel as their staff accommodations are flooded. And this opens the Pandora's box. There is also the side villain plot of the main manager trying to fire people for his own gain and Cole trying to be a hero in secret.
Sometimes you need an uncomplicated feel good love story without any drama. And I was in that mood and I just inhaled this sweet romance. Paige and Cole are polar opposites. Paige's parents are marine biologists and she has been brought up in a whirlwind life. She loves adventure. She loves spontaneity and fun and a bit of harmless recklessness. She lives life to the fullest. On the other hand, Cole was raised by emotionally unavailable parents and he never knows how to express his feelings. He loves control and structure and that's why Paige is such a fascination for him. He is in love with her lively and colourful and just all around amazing personality. But he is unsure and shy about how to show that. So what does he do? He takes the grumpy path, hiding his infatuation behind a stoic mask. But the thing is Paige is attracted to him too and all his brooding animosity isn't helping because Paige thinks he doesn't like her bubbly personality. It was a fun and flirty and slow burn foreplay building kind of read where time passed fast as I was thoroughly entertained by Cole and Paige's banter and flirting and emotional outbursts. The forced proximity part was killing me. Because I was literally on the edge of my seat waiting for them to come clean and do the deed. And the author took sweet time to give me what I wanted. The anticipation definitely made it sweeter. It was pure dopamine boost for my heart and I smiled and laughed so much. I loved both Cole and Paige and their unique personality. They fit with each other perfectly.
I reviewed an early copy voluntarily through Netgalley and Montlake

Unfortunately this book just wasn't for me. I read 20% and found it all to be so shallow and surface level. I also couldn't stand the lead female who was incredibly judgemental of others, especially women saying a colleague was pretty but had "not much going on behind those eyes" even though she didn't know her. I hate women putting others down in this way and so decided it simply wasn't the book for me.
This cute enemies to lovers Rom-Com is so freaking good. This is the summer beach read! I couldn't put it down. The witty banter between Cole and Paige. He's straight laced and she's up for a good time. This is such a wonderful book! 5 stars!
I just reviewed Their Last Resort by R.S. Grey. #TheirLastResort #NetGalley

Paige and Cole work at a resort. They had a rocky start on her end and although they banter frenemy is the term used for their relationship. But when a hurricane is headed their way housing arrangements force them to confront past events and feelings.
I really liked the banter and enemies to lovers trope of Cole and Paige's story. Cole was very honest about his feelings once he opened up and they did not have a third act break up.
They are pushed together with a hurricane that pushes the team into the open resort rooms for safety. He didn't force them to pair up but circumstances played in and I appreciated the way that was written.
I liked the blurbs with the preppers for comedic moments.
I did not like that we find out early on they kissed, and by kissed read were almost naked and grinding in the ocean and obviously into each other. Paige however sees this interaction as one sided and allows awkward, poor communication to continue.
Once Cole and Paige get together, they immediately tell each other "I love you" despite really knowing nothing about each other. The relationship felt rushed in plot. In relation to when this is revealed in the book it is over 50% until feeling are discussed and over 70% until they start acting on their feelings and head toward a relationship.
There also wasn't much involvement of secondary characters, they were fillers between Cole and Paige's interactions and most were not given depth or much personality. Only Todd was given page time for the secondary plot to make Cole the hero.
3 spice scenes and some references to others
Based on other books by the author I expected the storyline to play out with better plot structure.
As usual by this author, this is a well written romantic comedy. Paige and Cole work for a beach resort and for the last year they've been dancing around each other, trying to deny their mutual attraction. The romance is slow burn and there is an odd flashback where we see something significant that has happened between them over the past months. Everything comes to a head when the resort's manager gives Cole a directive re staffing levels.
The story is lighthearted and I found myself chuckling every now and then. The plot is fairly predictable and I had no problem figuring out what would happen, it is a romance, after all. There are a few nicely written steamy scenes and the H/h's chemistry was good. I enjoyed my reading experience and I give it 3.5 stars rounded up to 4. My thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the eArc in return for my opinion. Publishing date is 1st May 2024.
Their last resort is a funny hate-to-love love story with witty banter and cute moments. The heroine is quirky and the hero is a grumpy suit-man boss.
I liked the banter and the setting, at the picturesque resort and friendships.
But overall it fell flat, with the heroines immature character and cringeworthy scenes. The beginning was unnecessarily complex with the time jumps. I think it would have been good with a linear timeline.
I love the banter and wit as usual, I love R S Grey's writing especially for that, but from dual PoV I felt I was reading from the same person, they had a similar sense of humour and similar character with few exceptions. Or it would have been better with one PoV in my opinion. Overall I think it would have been good to have some more depth to the plot and the characters, some ups and downs.
Cute idea but felt disjointed and not well executed. I did enjoy the banter but the FMC felt immature and the MMC felt bland. The switch from enemies to I love you was too quick to feel believable. The second half was slow.
Overall this was not the author's best work..
Thank you to NetGalley and Montlake for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book.
I really didn't like Paige for most of the story and struggled to see what Cole saw in her. Cole, however, was a great character, and his takedown (no spoilers) was *chef's kiss* perfect. I didn't see them as enemies and don't know what Paige hated about him from the beginning, so the very quick "I love you" seemed to come out of nowhere. Not my favorite R.S. Grey, that's for sure - you might like this more than I did if you're not familiar with her other work.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️4/5
She’s a free spirit, he’s sensible and pragmatic and maybe a tiny bit stiff. Let the games begin.
Their Last Resort took me a little time to get into, but I loved the premise and the setting was *chef’s kiss*
Their Last Resort checks lots of boxes of what I love in a romance:
🌺 Forced proximity
🌺 Only one bed
🌺 Dual POV
🌺 Enemies to lovers (although they were definitely in denial here)
🌺 Boss(ish)/Employee
Here’s my grievances:
I love a good dual POV, but there weren’t enough of Cole’s chapters. There were so many times I thought a chapter ended with a great lead in to swap POVs but it didn’t which was a little disappointing. Also, at times Paige came off as a little too immature for me.

While this story has banter and wit, making me laugh, it felt off and forced alot of the time. Not my favorite book.
