The Queen’s Crown is the first book in the League of Rulers series and it ends in a cliffhanger. I now HAVE to read the second book in the series because I need to know what happens next.
After Sabine’s sister is murdered while waiting to marry King Rainer, Sabine decides to take her sister’s place. She hopes to not only fulfill her duty to her country but also secretly find the person responsible for her sister’s death.
There is so much about this book that had me wondering “who done it” and “what is going on.” I think that is what kept me engrossed in reading it. I didn’t know who was telling the truth, what the motives of many of the characters were, or if Sabine was going to be murdered too. And the relationship between Sabine and Rainer had me frustrated, in a good way. Will they have a slow burn romance and fall in love or is she just a means to an end for him?
This book had so much promise. I really loved and felt for Sabine but the plot fell a bit flat. It felt like it never took off in my opinion. I wanted more romance and substance to the characters. That being said the foundations of the book were great, the writing was really good.
There was always so much going on in this book that kept me hooked. I loved that Sabine finds out who killed her sister but still so many unanswered questions. The ending definitely leaves you wanting more.
Rating- 4 stars
Many thanks to Jennifer Anne Davis, Xpresso Book Tour and NetGalley for letting me have this opportunity to review this eBook and to give my honest review.
The Queen's Crown follows Princess Sabine Ludwig who thought that she would never have any claim to any throne and spend her days drinking tea and knitting. However, tragedy strikes when her sister is brutally murdered in a foreign kingdom. Sabine's world is turned upside down. Sabine decides to take her sister's place and marry King Rainer. Sabine believes this will be the only way to save her kingdom and to find out her sister's killer. But once Sabine gets to the kingdom, not everything as it seems.
This book was quite plot-driven and there was a lot going on which kept me really intrigued throughout the book. It did get annoying the more times the MC was left in the dark or lied to over and over again. Most of the time, I was screaming at the characters because I wanted to know what was going on. I am still not sure if
I trusted any of the characters with the amount of lies and deception they put her through. I would love to see more world building in the next book to learn more about the world.
After this book, I am left with more questions than answers and I can not wait for the second book. I am hoping that we get the answers that we were waiting for it in this book. I am also intrigued to see where this book is going to go.
Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.
That was really good. It has been a while since I read a kingdom arranged marriage book. 4 stars cause at times I felt that some parts were unnecessary and we ciuld have had other interactions with the rest of the characters. other than that it was so good
I have mixed feelings on this one. I liked it but I was hoping for more, more romance, more plot, just more.
The characters are likeable but I needed more romance, the pace of the story is good but I needed more information.
Overall, a nice read that I hope will improve in the next installment.
I really liked the characters in the book, and sped through it! I felt like you really got a feel for the connection between the sisters. The characters in this book were built so well. The plot and the mystery that shrouded the whole book kept me on my toes the whole time. I really enjoyed the cliffhanger this book ended on. The twists and turns that this went through made me wanting more. I cant wait for the next book in the series.
Princess Sabine is the sixth in line to the throne, so she doesn’t spend much time thinking about politics. That is until her sister agrees to marry a neighboring king to help her country … and then is murdered before the wedding can occur. Sabine wants to know who was responsible for her sister’s death, so she agrees to marry the king of Lynk to investigate it herself. Will Sabine be able to discover who was behind the murder? How will she adjust to a role she was never destined to hold?
The Queen’s Crown is the first book in the League of Rulers series. This fantasy novel had me captivated from the start and I couldn’t stop reading because I wanted to know what was going to happen next. As the book neared the end and the story wasn’t slowing down, I knew that the second book would be a necessity. This book was not a high fantasy, but it gives readers a lot to think about and includes many characters with hidden depths. This book does end with a cliffhanger, and I wish the next book was already available.
Thank you to Jennifer Anne Davis and NetGalley for giving me a copy of the book.
This is such an amazing story and leave me wanting to read the next book. I devoured it. There is so many twist and turns.
"The Queen's Crown" has left me eagerly anticipating the next book. Jennifer Anne Davis's captivating blend of suspense, intricate world-building, and well-drawn characters has me on the edge of my seat. The unresolved mysteries and evolving plotlines promise an enthralling sequel. I'm excited to dive back into Princess Sabine Ludwig's world, anticipating new revelations and challenges. Davis has crafted a narrative that has left me hungry for more, and I can't wait to continue the journey in the upcoming installment.

WHAT IT'S ABOUT:
👑 As sixth in line to the throne, eighteen-year-old Princess Sabine Ludwig of Bakley thought her biggest problem was finding a man remotely interesting to dabble with while trying to fill her days with something other than knitting or drinking tea. Yet, when her sister is murdered in a foreign kingdom before she’s to be married, her world twists upside down.
👑 Devasted and furious, Sabine wants nothing but find her sister's murderer and bring him to justice. So she blindly takes her place and marry the mysterious and mighty king of Lynk. It’s the only way she can hunt down and find the killer. But more than one obstacle stands in her way, and it's hard for her to be queen of a kingdom so secret.
👑 Hallf thruths, lies, and royal secrets, she must keeps her wits about her to find her sister's killer and most importantly, survive. Can she trust her guards, her maid and the royal siblings?
Between power struggles, seduction and lurking dangers, her life and much more is at stake. Will she make it long enough to the wedding or meet the same fate as her sister?
Sabine is married off to the king of a neighboring kingdom after the death of her sister, his original intended, in an alliance to keep her people safe from the people kidnapping children. Sabine sets out to find out who killed her sister but is herself attacked at nearly every turn.
I feel like all that happened was every other page Sabine was being attacked. Nothing really happened and no secrets were divulged. I really hope book two gives us more to work with.

I have mixed feelings about this one. I was definitely drawn to it because of the cover and the description, but some aspects definitely let me down.
Y’all we all know that I don’t love slow burn, especially with no crumbs. That’s just my personal preference and if it’s clear that’s what it is, I don’t let it affect my review. But man, by the middle of the book I was BEGGING for some sort of romance. Some sort of anything. But when we did get it, it felt like it came out of nowhere.
Now, I enjoyed the twists and turns of the story. But, I felt like I went through this story knowing absolutely nothing. Like there were no crumbs of plot or hints to the story, which was actually quite frustrating. We needed to get some sort of direction.
I didn’t really feel invested in any of the characters relationships or connected to any of them at all, either.
Now, the ending. Trust me, I love a good cliff hanger. But, the plot of the book needs to conclude first, at least to me. The story of the first book just didn’t feel finished to me. I just wish that it had a more concrete end prior to the cliffhanger.
Overall, I didn’t particularly love this book. But, it has interested me enough to read the second one.
* Thank you NetGalley and publisher for the advanced e-arc.
This was a fun and quick read, that left me a bit confused.
The MC was sometimes a bit childish, and other times very tough and grown-up.
Other characters didn't really get a change to develop and show more than a few character traits that they got.
I had fun reading this book, but it did not make me curious enough to continue with this series.
Maybe I'll change my mind when I read the blurb!
I thought this book was sooo good! The main character takes her sisters place to get revenge and there are twists you don't see coming. I can't wait for the next book as this one leaves you on a cliffhanger.
I really love Jennifer Anne Davis’ writing and this book was no exception! the queen’s crown was amazing!
have you ever read a book for over three hours to learn nothing by the end of the book? i’m not sure what even happened during this book
I did not enjoy this book. I found the writing rather clunky: the sentences felt choppy, transitions were nonexistent, and the descriptions rather lacklustre. I also had a hard time suspending disbelief when the characters are saying “okay” in this pseudo historical world. I found the journey to the court improbable and unnecessary; the characters weren’t generally likeable either. It struck me as a draft to be better fleshed out in weeks and months to come.
The Queen's Crown by Jennifer Anne Davis was a fun and quick read. I do still feel like there are a few things i dont understand about the story, like who really are the bad guys? but hopefully that will be cleared up in later books.
It was fast paced but not to the point where I got confused, I am excited to see what the next book holds.
thanks to Netgalley for this ARC, I am leaving this review voluntarily
I cannot say I didn't like the story because that would be untrue, but still I found it lacking. I feel like we were left with so little Information in the end. Don't get me wrong, I loved how unpredictable it was, I just wanted to be included more. Also, the romance just wasn't there, nor was I able to tell who the love interest actually is. It does make me crave for book 2 so I can get some of the answers, and I will be continuing the series.
