This is a fun guide for spotting birds in an urban environment. It includes tips for listening, as well as looking. I loved the vibrant photo-collage illustrations.
The ending seemed a little abrupt, though; I wish there'd been a concluding statement.
This book celebrates Black joy, without ever explicitly saying so. It just shows diverse people from everyday walks of life, enjoying the outdoors. In fact, it is so ordinary, some kids are depicted wearing mismatched Halloween costumes while they bird. The illustrations are fabulous--they utilize photography and collage, which makes it feel like you are watching an educational portion of a PBS kids show. I loved this book and can't wait for a copy to come in at my library! I highly recommend this book for schools and libraries.
