Everything is not what it seems in this psychological thriller. Love the story, the characters, and the twists. Highly recommend.

HELP the way I was both protective of and immensely suspicious of a tiny child for this entire book. The way she totters so violently between traumatized innocent and devious little gremlin was truly delightful. Everyone in this entire book needs A LOT of therapy. Like beginning right now. For many years, possibly forever. Probably forever.
The twists were just enough to keep me on my toes. Her ex husband is a weenie and I stand by that. Everyone has a motive and everyone is unreliable - even our narrator.

I loved this one...so creepy and strange in many ways. A house with no glass, only plastic. A 9 year old traumatic mute little girl. A dead nanny...murdered? The little girl possibly witnessed a murder and at the worst time because her parents were going through a bitter divorce. I always have said, "You never know what goes on behind closed doors" and this family is one that is looked at as perfect. But are they perfect in the sense people would think of as perfect? I was so curious to get to the answers and I was hooked from the beginning. The new nanny never really worked with children as young as Rose, but since the new nanny, Stella, had been through a similar situation the judge on the case thought she'd be the only on to get through to Rose.
To add to the deeper levels of the investigation, it turns out that the lawyer also had a terrible past. I don't want to say too much to spoil the plot, but it was really good! Stella was about to find out all family secrets and watching as the mute Rose helped her through discovering what really happened when the deceased nanny plunged to her death was interesting. To add to the "fun" of getting to the truth of the mystery, everyone seemed to be lying so who, if anyone, was telling the truth?

Man, this book was good! As soon as I started, I was kicking myself for waiting so long to get to it. Addictive and enthralling, I didn't know which person was the dangerous one in this dysfunctional family. I thought Stella's character was fleshed out so well, she was flawed and had her own trauma that made her the perfect person for the case she was working. I didn't really know where this was going and who would ultimately be the bad guy so it was very satisfying getting to the end of this and finding out. I was on edge each time Stella met with Rose, not knowing what was going to happen and I absolutely loved it!!

This was my first time reading Sarah Pekkanen, and I received House of Glass as an ARC from NetGalley. The novel presents an intriguing premise with a strong psychological element. The plot is engaging, with a series of twists and turns that keep the reader invested.
House of Glass is a psychological thriller that follows Stella Hudson, a best interest attorney who is appointed to represent Rose Barclay, a nine-year-old girl who has stopped speaking after witnessing her nanny's mysterious death. As Stella delves into the Barclay family's secrets, she discovers that the nanny's death might not have been an accident. The family, including Rose's parents Beth and Ian, and her grandmother Harriet, all have their own hidden agendas and dark pasts. Stella's investigation is complicated by her own traumatic childhood, which mirrors Rose's experiences. The character development is solid, particularly with Stella and Rose. Stella's journey from a professional attorney to someone deeply affected by her own past is compelling. Rose's silent struggle adds an eerie and emotional layer to the story. However, some of the secondary characters felt underdeveloped, which made it harder to fully connect with the broader narrative. The pacing of the novel is generally good, but there are moments where the transitions between the different timelines and perspectives feel abrupt. The ending, while surprising, left a few questions unanswered, which might be frustrating for some readers. Overall, House of Glass is a decent read with a unique premise and strong central characters. Despite its flaws, it shows promise for Sarah Pekkanen as a writer. I'm curious to see how her storytelling evolves in future works. #netgalley #houseofglass

Rose is a child with selective mutism due to experiencing trauma. Stella is the attorney assigned to decide the custody of Rose.
This was a page turner and full of suspense with an ending that I did not expect.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an eARC.

House of Glass is one heck of a twisty suspenseful book by Sarah Pekkanen. The misdirection regarding the murderer almost had me but somehow I knew that there was more to it. Even once I figured out who should be one of the suspects, there were more tricks to be revealed.

Wow! Gripping book. Definitely a page turner. This is a great example of thriller & suspense. The cast of characters are multi-dimensional and that is always a "make it or break it" criteria for me.
Would recommend.

Stella has been assigned to represent Rose Barclay, a child who's parents are going through a divorce. It's Stella's job to make sure both parents are putting their child's well-being first. Once she spends enough time with them, she will make her decision about the custody arrangement.
Rose is a brilliant child that is mute due to seeing her nanny die from a fall from a window. Stella feels a connection to Rose due to her own childhood trauma.
From the very first visit, Stella can tell that something isn't quite right. Stella also begin to dig into her past to make sense of what happened that horrific night.
I really enjoyed this book. The characters were well developed and I enjoyed getting to know them. The whodunit mystery part if the book was well thought out. I had no clue how the book was going to end.

House of Glass by Sarah Pekkanen engaged me from the very beginning. Pekkanen writes as if each character is hiding something sinister… who is innocent, who is guilty, what are their secrets? The twists and hints reveal nicely throughout the novel. I couldn’t put it down. I was surprised by the ending and found it to be satisfying.
Psychological thriller fans will love this one!
Special thanks to St. Martin’s Press for the digital ARC via NetGalley.

Another great read from Sarah Pekkanen, will keep the reader on their toes!
Was thrilled to get approved to read this one!
A nanny dies, and Stella is brought in to see if she can help in figuring out how she died.
I was thinking when I read the description, "wouldn't it be wild if...............) and while reading the book, parts of it leaned toward my wild thought. However, I was wrong, wrong and wrong once again.
Rose was creepy and disturbed, her parents were........questionable..........and the grandmother was also odd. Just so many what ifs?
The story was fast paced and realistic. I liked how Stella was affected by her past.
I enjoyed following along with her and the family to figure out just what happened.
It was a one sitting read and I flew through the book wanting to find out all the details.
I would definately recommend this book to readers who are familiar with the author and her books, if they like fast paced thrillers that grab them and refuse to let them go until the last word is read
Thanks to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for this great read.

**This review co tanks some spoilers! **
Thank you NetGalley for the arc of House of Glass. I really enjoyed this book! I found the whole premise to be fascinating and the plot unfolded at a pace that kept me hooked! The main character, Stella, was easy to connect to and root for. I was ready to give this quick read ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ but the whole tangent towards the end with Detective Garcia was unnecessary and a distraction from what I really liked about this story- a redemption story about a strong female who overcomes her childhood trauma in order to help another young girl going through trauma. The whole sudden attraction seemed forced and like a last minute addition that didn’t need to be added.

For me, the sign of a good thriller is when you can’t figure out who is behind the events happening. House of Glass kept me guessing and I wasn’t sure who was the culprit. I was going back and forth between a few characters and was ultimately wrong. The plot was interesting and fast paced enough that I sped pretty quickly through the book. This was my first time reading Pekkanen solo, I’ve only read her books with Hendricks and I must say I enjoyed this one more than when she writes as a duo.

I love everything Sarah writes and this one was not a disappointment. She is just simply brilliant. The main character, Rose, will surprise you again and again as you read this book. Nothing is as it seems of course. But that's not why you read her books. You read them because she makes you believe the characters and even makes you fall in love with a character who may be guilty -- but you see their pain. I love the concept of the murder of the Nanny happening at the very beginning and finding out the details all along instead of getting everything throw at you at once.

Thank you Netgalley for this ARC of House of Glass by Sarah Pekkanen. This is my second book read by this author. This follows a story of an affluent family after their nanny falls from a window and dies. There is suspicion on both parents, especially when it is learned that the father has been having an affair with the nanny. As the story deepens, there is even thought that their daughter may have pushed the nanny to her death. This story has a quick pace and is easy to follow. That being said, it was just an ok read for me. If you enjoy thriller and suspense novels, then you may enjoy this. While I thought it was good, it fell a little flat for me. Most thrillers do though, in my opinion.

The "golden family" is struck with a scandal when their nanny tragically falls to her death (or was she pushed?). The only potential witness? Rose Barclay, a nine-year-old who refuses to speak. Stella Hudson is the best interest attorney assigned to the case. She enters the Barclay home and realizes the case is much more complicated than it appears....and there is not a single shard of glass in the entire house. Soon everyone is a suspect in the nanny's murder.
Sarah Pekkanen is becoming a favorite for me. Her stories are so twisted and so complex, much like the cases and mysteries she spins within them. She gives Stella a very complicated and dynamic past that makes her more than just a detached attorney. The Barclay family is truly the perfect iteration of the "royally messed up golden rich family" trope. I'll continue to reach for Pekkanen's books and can't wait to read what she puts out next.

This book was a very compelling domestic thriller that delves into the complexities of family secrets, betrayal, and the fragility of trust. The story revolves around a family living in an opulent glass house, where outward perfection masks deep-rooted tensions. The book is well-paced, with engaging characters and a twist-filled plot, making it a gripping read for fans of psychological thrillers and family dramas. The author's exploration of themes like control, manipulation, and the fragility of relationships adds depth to the story, keeping readers hooked until the final page.

I couldn’t get into this book. It felt so unrealistic I don’t think Stella’s backstory was really relatable and it took over the book. I found myself rolling my eyes multiple times.

I've previously read Sara Pekkanen's co-writes but never a solo book and I'm kicking myself for not having read one earlier. This story had me completely riveted from beginning to end. There were so many options for "who done it" that I didn't really expect that particular ending. Throw in the small other "mystery" solved and all in all, a completely interesting and captivating read.

I enjoyed this audiobook. I’ve been a fan of other Sarah Pekkanen novels, and this one fit right along with the others. A quick and twisty story.
