What if our imaginations were fully engaged and we dreamed of so many amazing places and actions. Cunningham takes readers through an entire day of "what if's" with these two children. The artwork is vibrant and full of amazing details. Each adventure is set up with a "what if" question and readers come along to see and feel everything they do. A lovely family read aloud for younger kids.

Thanks to NetGalley and Annick Press for this ARC in exchange for an honest review

In this picture book, Francine Cunningham attempts to create an enchanting world of imagination from the point of view of two siblings. The simple phrase "What if..." sets a magical tone, unlocking a cascade of fantastical possibilities. The book is also culturally relevant by having an Urban Indigenous family, at the core of the story, adding a layer of cultural richness to the narrative.

Mathias Ball's vibrant illustrations bring imaginative scenarios to life with a burst of color and energy and create an overall sense of wonder and playfulness.

The narrative in itself is a bit difficult to follow as such even though the scenarios are delightful. So it might not be everyone's cup of tea. It is more easily accessible when divided into different settings since reading it could be a bit tedious for some readers. As such it isn't necessarily an easy bedtime read because a lot is going on, on every single page, but it can be used to spark imagination and encourage kids' creativity in creating fun scenarios.

All in all a cute book even though the writing can be hard to follow.

This book is a conversation starter for families and their child! Thinking of all the things we could do or try with more time and no limits except our imagination. There isn't exactly a plot to the story, but the illustrations are lovely, bright, inclusive, and will likely be appealing to young readers. I especially loved seeing what might be grandparents in the background in addition to two caregivers, treated with positivity and love.

The illustrations are gorgeous but the content of the book does not match the title. The "what if" scenarios are cute but have nothing to do with bedtime not existing. I was excited for this book bit ended it confused.

I enjoyed reading this whimsical book about imagination. The illustrations are bright and fun, and I love that. The title is a bit misleading - it took me a reread to understand it’s referring to one of the daydreams - but I would still like having this book on my shelf. The book is a great option for both storytime and bedtime.

Thank you NetGalley and Annick Press Ltd. for this ARC. All opinions are my own.

Very cute and beautiful illustrations. Highly imaginative “what if” scenarios of fantastical things a child could dream up. I do feel the title is a bit misleading as most of the plot revolves around the things before bedtime and not all the additional things one could do if you didn’t have to sleep.

I received a digital ARC via Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for a honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

My husband and I attempted to read this with our daughter. The cover looked super interesting and colorful. The synopsis seemed great. I had high hopes for this book. But this book did not deliver at all.

The rhyme scheme for the first half of the book was so confusing and ever changing. There was no punctuation; it was like a ridiculously long run on sentence. My husband got frustrated and stopped reading; I had to finish it up. Neither one of us enjoyed this book and the title does not match what is inside. Now the last 1/3 of the book was a bit better but the first 2/3 left such a sour taste in our mouths that we just couldn’t enjoy it.

As always please read for yourself and take my review with a grain of salt. What may not have been for my family, may be perfect for yours.

What If Bed Time Didn’t Exist is toddler-approved. I read this to my son while he ate lunch the other day and he loved all the silly things these two children dreamt up. As a mom, I enjoyed how this book enriches a young child’s imagination with the simple question of “what if”.

I absolutely loved the color palette and full page illustrations. I’m excited to see how beautiful they will look in print.

Thank you NetGalley and Annick Press for access to this digital review copy.

What If Bedtime Didn’t Exist? Was a fun, exploratory read. It was exciting to look at the images and imagine what would happen if all of the scenarios presented were real. It prompted amazing conversation, and could be adapted for students of all ages as a launchpad into imaginative fantasy writing.

The illustrations in this book are consistently magical!

I couldn't wait to see what each page looked like and what adventure the children were getting themselves into next with their wild imagination!

Its so important to encourage imaginations in littles, and this book is perfect for that!

What If Bedtime Didn't Exist? by Francine Cunningham is a delightful spin on bedtime books that encourage younger children to go to sleep.

The illustrations are gorgeous and wonderfully colorful with prose that helps parents of early learners reinforce colors, weather, locations, and good habits such as eating vegetables.

Bedtime isn't treated like a necessity, but as a fun part of the day that is full of more adventure and can make the impossible possible.

I would recommend this to parents of young learners and readers and Pre-K instructors

The pictures are gorgeous and the idea is fun. These kids are keeping their family busy trying to imagine every kind of scenario. This would be a fun book to read to your own kids or during a library story hour, letting the kids interact and see if they can come up with something even wilder. I always love books that can get kids involved.
Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this.

A wonderful picture book with colorful illustrations and a big imagination, What If Bedtime Didn't Exist follows children in a family as they go about their day asking "What if?" questions at every turn, and making believe that their play and other activities can be suddenly transformed by magic, as the pictures bring their vivid fantasies to life on the page -- until finally, the two kids are tucked into bed, and they ask one more question. Children will enjoy this book right before bedtime (and will be ready for sweet dreams, afterward) or any time of day, when they want to travel to the land of make believe!

A book that gives life to daydreams as a family ventures into the worlds of their "what ifs." The children ask the question what if there wasn't bedtime, what else could the world be like if we could imagine it in any way we wanted it to be? A great book that encourages children to use their imaginations and play make-believe.

This is a charming story that is clearly inspired by all of the "why" and "what if" questions of childhood. I'm not sure that was what I was expecting when I read the title of the book, but each page set offers a different "what if?" tied to a different element of a child's routine. Very whimsical!

Very cute book with beautiful illustrations. I loved the imagination of it, which is something far too many of us have lost. Would definitely keep this book in my collection.

I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. It is a cute picture book about what would happen if kids were in change and there was no bedtime to start with. Cute what-if book for little ones.
