The Haunting on West 10th Street by Helen Phifer was an amazing read that I couldn't put down. From the first page, the story pulled me in with its suspenseful atmosphere and well-crafted mystery. Phifer has a talent for creating vivid, eerie settings, and West 10th Street truly comes alive as a place that feels both real and otherworldly.

The characters were intriguing, especially as they navigated the spine-chilling events unfolding around them. Phifer’s writing style keeps the tension high, with each chapter adding layers of mystery that had me constantly guessing what would happen next. The blend of supernatural elements with a gripping storyline made it feel like I was experiencing the haunting myself.

If you're a fan of ghost stories and thrillers, The Haunting on West 10th Street is a must-read. Helen Phifer’s storytelling made this book an unforgettable journey, and I can't wait to dive into more of her work.

Thanks to NetGally for providing my copy of this book.

4.5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

✨ 2 timelines past and present
✨ supernatural suspense
✨detective theme

✨when a detective and his partner investigate a brutal crime from an attic in the house, we’re a an actress died in the same way they find in interesting that there is some sort of similarity.

✨ slow paced book, I wasn’t keen at first as it was split into 2 with the historical side of the the house. Quite predictable ending when you reached chapter 3.
There is a slight of hint of romance aswell in the book which is a great add on and gets more exciting .
I did not quite enjoy it but for someone who loves paranormal/ supernatural vibes of book this will be good for you.

✨ Thankyou storm publishing for the arc copy of this book for a honest review.

This book has it all!!! Mystery, horror, romance, supernatural elements! I think this would be perfect to read for an October book club! I enjoyed this book so much! I was not expecting a romance element to this book, but I was happy it was there! The characters felt very real, and full! I loved falling into this story every night before bed

This was probably due to my poor choosing since I seem to be in the minority, but this was a miss for me. But I should also disclose that supernatural books are really hit or miss for me and most are a miss. I only have a small window where I find them believable.

Stephanie Canon narrates this one and I thought she did a good job with the narration and brought the story to life.

This was a really interesting read and a lot of fun. I love detective thrillers and this was no exception. It was a refreshing change too that there was an element of supernatural and not just a cut and dry crime. I'm looking forward to more about Detective Miller! The narrator was also great.

I love a good haunting!!! I wasn't sure who, what, when and it was a lovely ride! Maria was a perfect main character with plenty of her own story attached! The gory scene right from the beginning hooks you right in!! I can't wait to read more from this author!

Detective Maria Miller is investigating a murder that is identical to a murder of an actress 60 years ago. In both, missing parts of the victims, have never been found.

This was a very enjoyable read and I hope that the author writes more with Detective Maria Miller.

Many thanks to Net Galley and Dreamscape Select for an audio copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Absolutely excellent. A good ghost/ haunted house story with a mix of demons and murder both old and new. I loved Detective Maria Miller and hope there are more novels featuring her. She is a no nonsense badass New York Detective not easily fooled or pushed around.
I promise you, turn off the TV and read this book. Better than most you can find on the tube.
Helen Phifer has joined my list of just reads.
Highly recommend

This is the first in the Detective Maria Miller series, and although I enjoyed it, I do not think that I will be going back here again.

Maria is a just the facts type of NYPD detective, but when a grisly murder starts to have some supernatural elements, she seems to just roll with it.

The story is told with dual timelines, as our supernatural murder seems to have a duplicate back in the 1950s.

I feel like this book is trying to do too much, and none of it well.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ALC.

This book was ok. I thought the narrator was great and I was interested in the book while I was listening but it didn’t stick with me. Once the book was over I just kind of felt Meh about it. I think this may just not be my style of mystery so this is no fault of the book

This book was an experience and I feel completely out of my depth on how to review it!
It was well-written and interesting, though very heavy on the supernatural/paranormal which is what throws me. I think fans of this genre will enjoy (I did!)

The Haunting on West 10th Street
By Helen Phifer

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the ARC of this title.

Detective Maria Miller is engulfed in murder that is similar to a murder that happened 60 years ago. The eerie vibe at the crime scene haunts her. But who else does it haunt and who or what is that feeling?

This story was a little difficult for me to get into. I don’t know if it was the back and forth of 60 years or what exactly.
Once I did get into it I enjoyed the story.

Again thank you for the ARC of this audiobook.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ -NetGalley ARC

Description:
Roses and vines run delicately across her skin, snaking from her chest to the top of her thigh. On any other day the tattoo would look beautiful. But this was her last…
When Detective Maria Miller walks up creaking stairs into the attic of the old brownstone she senses this isn’t an ordinary crime scene. The brutality of the murder is enough to shock even an experienced detective like Maria. But there’s something else. An unsettling presence seems to lurk in the shadows sending a chill through Maria’s bones, making her desperate to run back down the stairs and never return…
The killing is identical to the murder of an actress sixty years before, a crime that tore a family apart and sent shockwaves through New York City. In both cases, a satanic ritual was performed. Body parts were taken from the victims and never found.
Has the killer returned all these years later? Is there a copycat? Maria won’t let fear stop her from finding answers. Even when her relentless pursuit of the truth brings evil to her own door.

Do you believe in evil? 👿 After reading this chilling crime thriller you will.

This story takes place in the present day and in 1952.
Maria and her partner Frankie are given a cold case of a crime they had investigated three years ago. Marie soon realizes they aren’t dealing with anything they’ve dealt with before. This is my first book by this author, but it won’t be my last. She tells a story so well you feel like you’re right there. Of course, it could be because I’m a New Yorker. 😉 She’s not lying about those milkshakes at Black Tap. I highly recommend them and this book!!

Side note: This ended like it could end up being a series. Triggers: Murder, Kidnapping, and Stalking.
