This book had some very cute ideas. I can't wait to fire up my sewing machine and get started on a few of these projects.
The book excels in teaching fabric manipulation techniques that can transform ordinary scraps into extraordinary pieces. Whether you're looking to create unique accessories or practical items, this book offers something for everyone. The projects are varied enough to keep experienced sewists engaged, yet straightforward enough for those just starting their sewing journey. If you're like me and you can't bear to throw any scraps away, this is your book.
Thank you to the publishers and NetGalley for the opportunity to review a temporary digital ARC in exchange for an unbiased review.
This book is great for anyone who sews as it has lots of ideas for projects that you can do using any offcuts from previous projects. A lot of the projects are quite complex though so it isn't a book that I would recommend for beginners.
As a sewer, I have seen many a "scrap busting" sewing book. While this isn't necessarily scrap busting, but scrap crafting, it sadly is much of the same that's been published over the years. It's a new packaging and I've seen variations of these projects in other books. There is one or two new projects, but not much is new here. I have a lot of Debbie Shore's books and there are similar patterns between these two.
This would be handy to have to use up more of my scraps. I look forward to recommending my library purchase this book

A great collection of simple ideas to do with the extras from other sewing project. Very fun for any level of seamstress.
If you've always wondered what to do with your sewing scraps left over from projects as well as how to jazz them up then this book is for you. It sews you how to use the majority of your scraps without waste. It even gave me some ideas.
Who hasn't got scraps of material if you are a quilter or even a sewer. This book introduces some very different and not so easy skills to learn whilst making some projects.. Such as pleats, weaving fabric, making bowls, cathedral windows and adding other materials to create items to use.All this is with the use of scrapes and fabric manipulation.. I cannot fault the techniques show, and the level of instructions, but I found the items a little dated.. Thanks you NetGalley and the publishers for the DR
This book is really great guide to saving your scraps of fabric and turning him into unique pieces. I wish that the pieces were a bit more varied in nature but overall I really enjoyed learning how to make pleats, make a rope basket and weaving them into fun designs.
This how-to guide by Sallieann Harrison offers a variety of projects to create out of fabric scraps. Detailed instructions provide directions in manipulating fabric in unique ways to make unusual and one-of-a-kind creations.
Methods included are for both the sewing machine and hand sewing. Descriptions of necessary tools are included along with photos of tools and projects to help the crafter easily master the techniques offered. The book will help you not only reduce your stash of scraps, but create some original works for yourself or as gifts.
This is a good guide for those beginning to quilt as well as those who've been at it long enough to have a pile of fabric to use.
What a little gem of a book! Right from the authors note near the front, it's clear that this lady is passionate about sewing!
The book is well ordered with tips and tricks throughout. Beginners will find that the tools section and basic sewing techniques are very easy to follow and the terminology you will need is explained for the projects.
The projects themselves are gorgeous with beautiful photographs throughout, alongside instructions, templates and diagrams. Some even have a video tutorial that you can access via a QR code.
My personal favourites are the summer cushion and the rainbow pleat cushion as they make beautiful products that show off a multitude of those gorgeous scraps we all have too many of!

The book Elevate Your Scrap Sewing Projects was an enjoyable read. I would recommend any book written by Sallieann Harrison. Happy Reading and Crafting!

Astonishing but one never stops learning no matter how long you have been sewing. I was hoping that this book would contain some new projects so I could use up some of the scraps floating around my house! The introductory portion suggests tools that are not only useful but are pretty easy to find online. There’s no need to buy everything right away but I always appreciate advice from another source. The projects are much more than I have ever attempted yet they do not seem out of the ordinary for those who have dabbled in quilting. Look forward to seeing my scraps turn into something useful.
I received an advanced reader copy for free from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.
This shows some interesting techniques and it has good pictures to show how to do them. It might have just been the fabric choices but it didn't feel like my style.
This book features a variety of quilting and sewing projects that people can make with leftover fabric. However, some of these patterns are very complicated and involve lots of additional supplies and hardware, including different types of sewing machine feet. This book is best for people who are very skilled and experienced, and who already have a large collection of sewing notions of all kinds, not just fabric scraps.
A lot of these patterns didn't personally appeal to me, either, and there was an awful lot of pink. This is best for people who are looking for traditionally feminine sewing projects that have a lot of little, precise details.

This was definitely the book I was looking for.
I'm always looking for creative ways to use up my fabric scraps and this book had lots of great ideas.
3 complexly stitched stars
“Find inspiration for using your fabric scraps through ten beautiful projects that include over twenty skill-building sewing techniques, including…fabric weaving, making twisted pleats, adding leather tabs and hardware and more!”
These projects are for intermediate+ to advanced sewers. Directions are clear, though some photographs would be more helpful if contrasting fabrics were used. Lots of supplies are needed. A summer cushion uses, among other things: 14 bias strips, 100 pieces of cotton prints, cut into small rectangles, pearl beads, thin macrame rope for piping, a zipper, plus pins, needles, 3 different sewing machine feet. Most projects have 15 – 20+ steps and most steps have multiple parts, like rows on a quilt.
I would treasure a gift such as the ones in this book. Even though I have made several quilts, sewn basic clothing, and done embroidery for decades, (intermediate level skill) I have neither the time nor patience to develop these much more complex sewing skills.
The title, Elevate Your Scrap Sewing Projects, is misleading. To me, ‘Scrap sewing’ implies relatively quick and easy stash busting projects. Sallieann Harrison uses many kinds of top-of -the-line fabrics, leather, cork, zippers, piping and complicated techniques. ‘Intricate Projects to Advance Sewing Skills’ would be a more descriptive title for this book.

as a beginner sewist, i found this really helpful! there’s a good mix of basic techniques and more skilled things i can try later. i appreciated the photos a lot and can’t wait to make a rope basket, maybe even try a mini quilt :)
I love all types of sewing, but never know what to do with all of my fabric scraps - until now! This book has certainly given me the confidence and skill set to put my scraps to good use, and make some truly beautiful things. It’s full of project ideas, ranging in difficulty and materials needed. Each project / page is explained step by step, with clear accompanying photographs. You can follow the patterns exactly, or use the skills to create your own patterns and ideas. Would definitely recommend.
