Written by a psychotherapist with over four decades of experience, Stop Overthinking is a workbook-format program for tackling several self-limiting behaviors. We all know the negative consequences of stress, worry, sleep deprivation, ruminating on problems or events, and self-sabotage. These are among the highlighted behaviors examined in this volume. While the author provides overviews of each problem and general guidelines and advice, most of the emphasis is on the reader’s “doing the work.” That is, the author’s system provides workbook journaling steps that may lead the “worker” to solutions or closure. If this sounds like a system worth exploring to stop overthinking, then this book may be useful for you.

I really enjoyed reading this and highly recommend it to anyone who wants to stop the cycle of over thinking! Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advanced copy. I’m going to purchase a copy to own so that I have one for life.

Excellent! Reviewing self-help books can be difficult sometimes because every self-help journey and struggle is very individual. With that being said, I would definitely recommend this workbook to anyone having issues with overthinking. The exercises in this book are practical and easily explained and just as easy to complete. The author emphasizes on you having the power to change things and how to go about it. This workbook also has good quotes sprinkled throughout the book. Here is one of my favorites: "You wouldn't worry so much about what others think of you if you realized how seldom they do" ~Olin Miller, American writer and humorist. I don't think this is a cure all, but I'm sure most people struggling with overthinking could still find things that would help them.

The book contains multiple prompts to help the reader overcome their habit of overthinking. It's a straightforward guide with minimal content outside the journal prompts. It's easy to follow and applicable for people of any age. If you read an electronic copy, it'd be beneficial to have a pen/pencil and notebook on hand. Some readers may prefer a print copy so they can do the journaling in the book.

This is a great tool to fight the daily overthinking battle! I like the way the book breaks the text down into small chunks to read a bit at a time. I also enjoyed the tone it is written in; it makes you feel hopeful instead of shame for being an over thinker. I also like the quotes highlighted throughout the book, and the addition of color to certain text to really make points stand out. It is a great reference book for anyone struggling to turn off the constant thoughts & channel that energy toward somewhere positive! The journaling prompts throughout give you a concrete way to take action and improve your life.
Very good book, short but straight to the point! I love the design of the book as well. It's really interactive with many writing prompts. Very helpful to me.
This workbook reads/works like a guided journal. Writing prompts is the meat of this volume, with some, but not much content to apply.
