Another awesome cozy mystery in this series. Lots of fun with leprechauns, pots of gold, and of course the Lighthouse resident ghost. The characters are becoming old friends I love to catch up on. Such a great read, highly recommend.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
This was a fun, whimsical one to read around the St. Patrick's Say holiday. I seriously want to visit this bakery. Love the characters and the town, Well done.
St. Patrick’s Day has arrived and Beacon Harbor is welcoming its newest business, an Irish gift shop and pub. With Uncle Finn, weaving tales of leprechauns and gold, he becomes the prime suspect when a little person dressed as a leprechaun is found murdered.
Lindsey and the gang jump into their next investigation to find out who the murdered man was, who killed him, and why. There may be no luck at the end of this rainbow, but if they can clear Uncle Finn’s name and find a true culprit, they’ll be dancing a jig.
Another great entry in this series. I love the haunted lighthouse as the homebase for the bakery and the series. Wellington is, of course, one of my favorite, cozy mystery pups, and always lands an air of cuteness and slobber to each and every entry. If you have not read one in this series, yet, this is a great starting point. After all, who doesn’t love leprechauns gold in Murder?
St Patrick's Day in Beacon Harbor for bakery owner Lindsey Bakewell, means shamrock sugar cookies, an enormous amount of green icing, and Guinness cupcakes! Her boyfriend Rory's leprechaun obsessed Uncle Finn and cousin Colleen have recently arrived from Ireland and are living nearby. This means Lindsey is looking forward to the celebrations more than ever, especially as they will be running an Irish pub called the Blarney Stone and a themed gift shop.
Unfortunately, the celebrations are marred by a murder which means Lindsey and Rory are about to begin another investigation alongside their friend and local cop, Tuck. Can they discover the truth before anyone else dies or has the luck of the Irish disappeared from Beacon Harbor far too soon?
Book five in Darci Hannah's lovely series introduces two new characters with a link to Lindsey and boyfriend Rory as well as a new canine companion for her Newfoundland, Wellington. The storyline is fun with various blind alleys and red herrings to confuse and enthrall while there are some delicious sounding recipes included at the end after the big reveal.
I was able to read an advanced copy of this book thanks to NetGalley and the publishers, Kensington Books, but the opinions expressed are my own. I enjoyed this fun read which is easy to recommend.
Beacon Harbor is going green! This St. Patrick's Day tale has leprechauns, pots of gold, and shamrock cookies. Lindsey is baking up a storm while her boyfriend's uncle Finn prepares to open the Blarney Stone. Finn came from Ireland to open this gift shop and micro-pub. When a village employee is found attacked and then a murder occurs, Finn becomes the main suspect. Can Lindsey find the real killer? This one keeps you guessing with a slightly fantastical feel. Give this whimsical book a try!
Special thank you to Kensington Publishing and NetGalley for a chance to read this one early.
I will be posting a review on Amazon on the publication date.
A great cozy to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, complete with leprechauns, shillelaghs, pots of gold and shenanigans. While fifth in a series, it’s easily read as a stand-alone. Lindsey Bakewell’s bakery is supporting the grand opening of her boyfriend’s uncle’s new Irish themed gift shop, just in time for St. Patrick’s Day. When the local small children’s leprechaun parade seems to also include, appearing around town, what seems to be a real leprechaun, Lindsey can’t believe her eyes. Then, there’s the finding of a pot of gold and an attack on the town’s treasurer. Oh, and the leprechaun’s body is found in incriminating circumstances. Whew – a St. Patrick’s Day that Lindsey and her friends will never forget!
Lindsey is back at the bakery. This time we are introduced to two new characters from Rory's family who are from Ireland. They have opened a new business in town that happens to coincide with St. Patrick's day. Of course there are leprechaun sightings all over town, but are they real? There are crimes involved and Lindsey is drawn in to solve them. there are all kinds of twists and turns in the book to keep you guessing. I hope to see more of the new characters.
Leprechauns, ghost lights, green beer, green glitter, a pot of gold, and, gulp, a dead body
Let's just say, Lindsey Bakewell's St. Patrick's Day is full of surprises. Not only is she helping boyfriend Rory prepare for the opening of his Irish uncle's business, the Blarney Stone, but she's beyond startled to have a leprechaun run into the side of her car, then dash away. Leprechaun, you say? Well, that's what Uncle Finn believes. Even better, he brags he's found it's pot of gold not long after. Too bad for Uncle Finn that a dead body is found the next day. Even worse, a shillelagh, an Irish walking stick, is found beside the body. It should be of no great surprise that Uncle Finn, aka Finnigan O'Conner, soon finds himself in jail. Soon, though, another body is discovered.
And, that's just the beginning. Lindsey isn't sure she even believes in leprechauns but, well, whoever crashed into her car sure looked like one. There have been other sightings, too, so Lindsey really isn't going crazy. She is going to investigate, however, with the help of her friends. Finn isn't making it any easier by stubbornly insisting he tricked a leprechaun and found its gold, which he refused to say where is. That makes an outlandish investigation all the harder. I'm not going to detail any more of the multi-layered plot as, quite frankly, the twists and turns and surprises were half the fun. Murder or not, I found myself thinking it'd be great fun to be in Beacon Harbor while this book was taking place, a sure sign of how much I liked the vibe and characters. Kennedy is back (see last book)with a new boyfriend and is as flighty and seemingly self-focused as ever but is likable, if sometimes touchy. Rory, of course, is solid, his military background helping him stay grounded amidst the mayhem and confusing evidence. Even Finn, full of blarney and outlandish stories, is charming and seems to be well liked by his new village family.
Somehow, they combine forces with Tuck, the local law, to connect leprechauns to larceny and....oh, nope. Enough teasers. This book is a delightfully fun read, full of abrupt twists, lots of food talk (have snacks handy as you read), and friends having each others backs. Wellie, Lindsey's adorable Newfoundland dog, who starts the story stinking after his encounter with a skunk, gets into the action, too, with his new friend Bailey, Finn's dog. And, there are recipes! Thanks #NetGalley and #KensingtonBooks - #KensingtonCozies for inviting me over to share the shenanigan on Lindsey's St. Patrick's Day. I looked up the Irish Walking Cape and agree with Lindsey. They're awesome.
Well anyone who loves a good Irish tale will definitely get into this latest tale by Darci Hannah. We have leprechauns, green beer and pots of gold in this latest visit Beacon Harbor. With Rory's uncle Finn and cousin Colleen coming over to the states to open an Irish goods shop and a micro pub things are about to get interesting. After a successful opening day, Uncle Finn follows a leprechaun, and recovers his gold. Unfortunately the next day the "leprechaun" is found dead with a shillelagh, like the one Uncle Finn owns beside him, covered in blood and glitter. This is just the beginning of a wild ride that will leaving you questioning what's real and what's fantasy. Thanks to #NetGalley and #Kensington Publishing for a chance to read.
Lindsey Bakewell owns the Beacon Bakeshop, an old lighthouse that she's converted into her home. She's getting ready for St. Patrick's Day and the opening of the Blarney Stone, an Irish gift shop/pub that belongs to her boyfriend Rory's uncle Finn and his daughter Colleen. But one morning what she thinks is a leprechaun (I know; so does Lindsey!) runs into her car and then disappears. She also hears of a sighting of the same person from her dog groomer. And when a woman asks for her help, it turns out that she thinks a leprechaun might have attacked her boss, Fred Landry.
But leprechauns aren't real -- are they? Finn believes in them, Colleen doesn't. But when there are other sightings, Lindsey is determined to find out. Especially when there's a murder connected to the little man. Yet something is definitely afoot, and when Finn makes a startling discovery, everyone who knows him thinks he might be in danger. Now Lindsey, Rory, -- and the recently returned Kennedy -- are once again looking for a murderer...
I have read all the books in this series, and I have loved them all. The descriptions of the area are very good, and the characters are believable. In fact, I'd like to know them, especially Finn. He definitely seems an Irish rogue! Also, since Kennedy is back, she's brought some drama with her, which isn't surprising at all. She is who she is, and no one is going to change that! It makes for an interesting story line that is easy to follow. Are leprechauns real or are they fictional? Ah, there is a question for everyone, isn't it?
But now Finn is suspected of murder, and with St. Pats in full swing, the town is full of people who could have done the deed. The question is, how do Lindsey and Rory find the culprit? Especially when they're looking for someone who may have killed a leprechaun -- or someone dressed as one. It's a right pickle they're in, and the killer might not be finished yet.
I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this tale, nor can I tell you any more about the book. To do so would be giving too much away. But it's filled with whimsey and intrigue, secrets and even more. It's definitely worth the price of reading, and I look forward to the next in the series. Highly recommended.
I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher and NetGalley but this in no way influenced my review.
Murder at the Blarney Bash by Darci Hannah is a great cozy mystery that is the fifth book in the Beacon Bakeshop series.
I just LOVE this series and have read all five books now. Lindsey Bakewell, Wellie, and her bakery are just so adorable. I love the small town coastal vibe, the murder/mysteries, and well the whole thing.
I also am a total sap for holiday-themed books, and making this out with St Patrick’s Day, just hits the spot. It is everything I can ask for in a cozy mystery.
5/5 stars
Thank you NG and Kensington Books for this wonderful arc and in return I am submitting my unbiased and voluntary review and opinion.
I am posting this review to my GR and Bookbub accounts immediately and will post it to my Amazon, Instagram, and B&N accounts upon publication on 1/23/24.
I received a free copy of, Murder at the Blarney Bash, by Darci Hannah, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This is book 5 of 5, in the Beacon Bakeshop Mysteries. Finnigan O"Connor recently came from Ireland to open an Irish shop, but he has not having an luck since he arrived. Can baker Lindsey solve the mystery? I really liked the characters and the plot. Good cozy mystery.. I also love the recipes in the back of the book.
Lindsey Bakewell is busy ppreparing goods got the opening of the Blarney Stone, a gift shop
owned by her boyfriend Rory's uncle, Finnegan O'Connor. The annual grade school Leprechaun
Parade on this St. Patrick's Day. Finnegan claims to found a leprechaun's pot of gold and is spreading
the news. When a man dressed as a leprechaun is found murdered, Finnegan becomes a suspect.
Who is the dead man? Where was the pot of gold found? Is the attack on the town treasurer related?
Lindsey must find the real killer before Finnegan is convicted of the crime.

Rory's uncle from the Aulde Sod has moved to the states to open a tourist store nearby. It's St Patrick's day and soon there is a leprechaun, ghost lights, a serious beating by an unknown assailant, a pot o' gold, and a murdered man in a leprechaun costume as well as a supercilious returned friend and her equally obnoxious business partner. The group of friends do some sleuthing to get Uncle out of the frame while the local law tears hair out.
If anyone hasn't read the earlier books, Lindsey is a wealthy New Yorker who had a meltdown and decided to buy a decommissioned lighthouse near where she spent summers with her grandparents in their bakery. She is an excellent baker as well, so she opened a bakery/cafe and has acquired a friend, Rory, who is ex-SEAL/barista/SCUBA teacher for Great Lakes shipwrecks.
I enjoy this series with its lively characters and devious plots, and this book is a very good read.
I requested and received an EARC from Kensington Books via NetGalley. Thank you!
A delightful addition to the cozy mystery collection. I was able to enjoy this despite not reading any of the rest-- not on purpose; I just didn't realize it was the 5th book in a series. There were a few alluded-to details I didn't know the history of, but it didn't impede the storyline. I appreciate the realistic portrayal of dog ownership and how Welly was a big part of the story. There were a few little quirks I disliked about the story, but ultimately it was an entertaining read and I liked how it all came together at the end.
This is a fun St. Patrick’s Day story. Are leprechauns reals? Can one find pots of gold at the end of rainbows? The only negative is Kennedy, who acts like a pain throughout the entire book.
I enjoyed this book. It’s got a lot of whimsy in the story amongst the murder and other happenings. I did not like the Kennedy or Neill characters, what snobs and arrogance, I don’t know why the other characters liked them.. I felt like the robbery is something to be careful of in real life, it seems plausible to really happen. #MurderattheBlarneyBash #NetGalley
Loved reading this book and author. If you haven't read it yet I highly recommend her and her books. I suggest reading the books in order. Had a hard time putting this book down to work.
Another amazing mystery at the lighthouse bakery. There are Leprechaun's? When Rory's Irish uncle and cousin move to town to open an Irish store and pub on St Patrick's Day no one expected Leprechaun's and pots of gold. Not to mention murder. When Rory's uncle becomes the number one suspect, everyone scrambles to figure out who the murdered man is and why he was burying pots of gold,
This is a must read book and a great addition to the series.
A dead leprechaun is found on the shores of Lake Michigan. Rory's Uncle Finn claims to have found a pot of gold by following a leprechaun. This book is filled with St. Patrick's day shenanigans. I loved that the mystery had many layers. Rory & Lindsey had to alot of digging to find the killer. I really enjoy this book. It feels like coming back home to see what my favorite characters are up too. I especially love Wellington. I had to look up an Irish walking cape and I agree with Lindsey they do look fantastic but are a tad pricey.
