I love an Almanac and this one is no exception. I like to garden but I am a bit clueless so being told what to do and when is massively helpful and when its as lovely as this its a win win! The drawing are lovely too. Cant wait for 2025.

A perfect companion to gardening in 2024 (and any year really)! This almanac is clear to read and understand and dives deep into each month and what you plant and/or expect. I loved reading this and can see it being very helpful with my gardening this year.

THe Royal Horticultural Society's Garden Almanac 2024 is a beautiful and informative read. If you aren't based in the UK, there are some aspects of the book that may not relate to you or that you may have to adjust for your climate, but there is still much you can enjoy and learn. Historical information about the seasons and traditions, planting advice, pest advice, rainfall and sunrise tables, plant recommendations, recipes and more.
Easy to read and lots of photos to enjoy too!

A really nice variety of information about different topics. This would be an ideal gift for a new gardener to help them throughout the year.

I really loved the layout for this book. Each month included things to be done in the garden, species to watch out for during that time of year, projects that could be completed/recipes that could be made (with step-by-step instructions), and much more. I particularly enjoyed the lore, legends and tales that were included for each month, as well as the illustrations. The photography was beautiful as well. I think this book has interesting information for all levels of gardeners and various types of gardens. I like that it doesn't necessarily have to be used as a guidebook, however it is very useful as one. It can simply be referred to for recipes, stories and more. I think nature lovers will enjoy this one.

I've honestly been in a funk, not knowing what to do and when in regards to my garden but this book literally spells it out for you. it gives you a month by month to do list from making sure you rake the leaves to planting the right bulbs at the right time. There's even a few sneaky DIY projects in there too which was a lovely surprise.

if your looking for a guide on where to start on your gardening journey or like me are a bit stuck as to what do wand when, then this book is literally like the bible.

A lovely almanac by the Royal Horticultural Society. Those not based in the UK might not benefit from all sections of the book, but there's still plenty of great tips, delicious recipes, interesting information, etc. that will appeal to a wide public. (And I guess it will only be sold nationally anyways.)

The illustrations are lovely, and the photos are fine (although some of them could have been slightly more professional -- I suspect a few of them might come from a phone rather than a camera). The book is rather minimalist, clear and easy to read, written in a straightforward language. The checklists are a great way to organise what one is doing in their garden when.

Overall, a really good and comprehensive garden almanac.

Gorgeous photos, incredible advice. I love the monthly checklists, challenges, recipes, and seasonal fruit lists. This book is nothing short of perfect for the gardener. They've thought of everything! The only drawback? I live in zone 6b. And this book is not written for that zone. But other than that? Perfection. Sheer perfection.

One couldn't expect more from a gardening almanac! Captivating refreshing read. I enjoyed lyrical entries to each month, mythology of plants and all the gardening advice.

As a little note - I think it would be great to enlarge pictures more and place their corresponding text beside, at times pages seems to be overwhelmed with advices stacked too closely together.

Great job on this one tho, can't wait to get my hands dirty :)

This is a beautiful book, the illustrations and photographs are wonderful. I definitely do not have green fingers, but I do have a garden which I promise myself to make into a nice space every year. I have purchased several books in the past but none come close to this absolute gem. It sets out everything I need to know and do, month by month for the year. It tells me what challenges I might face, it gives me recipes, it gives me stories, it gives me advice on keeping all my garden critters happy. Most of all, it gives me hope that I can finally make my garden a place to enjoy.

A fantastic recipe in the book under the month of April is an Asparagus Salad that sounds so mouthwatering delicious. It’s made with sautéed asparagus tips on lettuce leaves, topped with chopped tomatoes, boiled eggs, and a light vinaigrette.

There are also monthly stories of birds, animals, flowers and folklore. One tale is of the tiny wren that was sacred to the Druids and also often thought to be a fairy in disguise.

Thinking of fairies and spirits, per anecdotes in the Almanac, the Summer Solstice (celebrated since the Neolithic Age 6,000 years ago), it was believed that on this occasion, these fey folk communed with humans.

Of course, the 2024 calendar is packed with loads more information than just fun and interesting tidbits of lore. From deadheading flowers; identifying root rot; dividing bulbs and rhizomes; and treating pests and diseases; this is a step-by-step how-to reference book for the identification, prevention and treatment of edibles and flora in your garden.

This is a breathtakingly beautiful full-color calendar filled with exceptional art and photographs of natural wonders and helpful gardening tips. It is designed for every British household. This excellent and well- illustrated book provides gardening notes — and more! It lists jobs to do for each month in the flower or vegetable patch, as well as what birds you might see, an historical note, and even a seasonal recipe. Features that I particularly like are the tables given for sun and moon rise, and average rainfall, for areas across the UK. This information is useful and seldom found in other books.

Of course, with climate change, some of the advice in the Almanac might need to be adjusted, as plants (as well as birds and pests) are forced to try and adapt. Nevertheless, the book would be a well-received present for a gardening friend or relative.

A really beautiful book, full of interesting little notes. The images are lovely. I think the only thing it may have benefitted from was a little more space given to what to plant and when.

I think you would be able to come back to this book time and time again for the stories, craft makes and planting guides.

This is a lovely garden almanac for gardeners in the UK. It includes month by month lists is what to do in the garden and with houseplants, typical rainfalls for various cities in the UK, moonrise and set, seasonal wildlife info and more. There are lots of photos and old fashioned illustrations.

Pretty and useful.

Pros: I am a novice but eager gardener, so I seek out books like this to learn more about it. This is a wonderful resource for gardeners in the UK because it is filled with practical information, including charts.

Cons: I should have known this because this book is by the Royal Horticultural Society, but most of the information in this book is not very applicable to the climate where I live (Southern United States). This isn't a con of the book... just of me as a reader.

The RHS Garden Almanac 2024 is a beautiful book and will make a lovely and useful present for experienced gardeners, new gardeners and us armchair gardeners with no space but in our dreams.

Full of beautiful illustrations and photos, this monthly guide gives you history, projects, recipes as well as useful charts and guides. It advises you want to plant each month and has looks at the edible garden too.

As a lover of folklore and fairy tales the garden tales section at the end of each month was a delight.

This is a book that will be looked at each month for sure.

I know very few people who do not enjoy gardening in some manner. It could be plants on a windowsill, a vegetable garden, a flower garden or an herb garden. There is something special about troweling soil, caring for a plant. A gardener’s excitement over the first early tomato, seeing the first bud and bloom on a flower, and cutting fresh herbs for cooking.
In RHS Garden Almanac you will find gardening tips, legends, and facts. Have you ever wondered when the best time is to plant certain plants (soil conditions, water, temperatures, lunar time, amount of sun and the best locations).
This is a beautiful book, well laid out, interesting, and informative.
