Happy Traditional Pub/ Release Day for @sophie_lark_author , Blake & Ramses! When she originally released this last year, I was so curious of the kink level of this book, but alas, books get lost in our endless TBRs. But when I saw an eARC available through NetGalley I was excited to finally prioritize this! And when I say this book is spicy, I needed some water!

“He thought Minx was about control, about connecting me to him. What he actually needed was someone to take care of, and I needed someone to force me to accept that care. Neither of us expected the catharsis and healing that followed.

This book covers so much more than just paid work. Both characters have traumatic pasts to grapple, and the Autism representation was handled with so much respect. This whole book was just so well done!

“Blake, I only want you. I want to grow with you. I want to become better with you. I want to laugh and love with you. And most of all, I want to share in our accomplishments. I knew that was what I wanted when you took care of me when I was spiraling about my dad. No one’s ever helped me like that. I know it’s not enough, but here’s every dollar I have.”

Now while Ramses and Blake just weren’t my favorite romantic relationship of all time, the relationship was so wild. I mean. A whooooolr lot of kinky spicy scenes were had (the car trip?! Jeepers) but the best part? Ramses groveles during the third act breakup up by giving her EVREY PENNY HE HAD! All 7.2 BILLION DOLLARS.

“This is a girl who’s meant to shine in the dark like a silvery star. I found her. I brought her here. Now she’s lighting up my night.”

Tropes:
🖤 Billionaire Romance
🩶 Autism Representation
🤍 BDSM/ Animal Role play

“You change how I feel,” she whispers. “Things I thought were carved on my soul melt away and become something new when you look at me. When you touch me like that.”

Final Rating: 4⭐️, 3.5❤️‍🩹

Thank you NetGalley and Sourcebooks Bloom Books for an eARC of this book in exchange for my honest and unpaid review!

Ramses Howell is a billionaire, a man who prides himself in his achievements and his ability to get what he wants... yet the moment he meets Blake Abbot, he knows he'll do anything to be with her. Blake Abbot is a brilliant and mischievous escort who has prided herself in being able to read men, in being able to win the game and reach her goals. The moment Blake and Ramses meets they both know that they can't stay away from one another. Ramses will have to play Blake's games and see if he can find a way to find out who she really is and if he can break down her guards. Blake has vowed never to fall for a client yet Ramses is different... something about him makes her want to show him parts of herself she's hidden away from everyone. They both can't resist a game or a challenge... but is this really just a game or is it possible that it's more than that and that for the first time they've finally met their match in each other. This was such a good read, I adored how much Ramses and Blake couldn't get enough of each other, how they were so attuned to the other's wants and needs, and how they perfectly fit the other. They are a perfect match, they have amazing chemistry and the care and love they have for each other is both sweet and so so hot. Ramses might be a bit controlling and unhinged but he's in it to win her heart and he'll do anything to prove to her that he's there for the long run and that nothing she does could ever make him not love her. Blake has been through a lot and has her guards up yet something about Ramses keeps drawing her back. I loved this book and had so much fun reading it!!

Minx is a standalone (I think), spicy romance from Sophie Lark. I’ll start by saying I LOVE Sophie Larks Brutal Birthright series and was excited to get my hands on this one early!

Blake Abbot is a high end escort that has climbed from the bottom of the barrel to become one of the most sought after escorts in the high finance scene. She is so exclusive she only accepts three clients at a time.

Ramses Howell is a multibillionaire who also had a rough start in life but worked his way up the financial ladder until he launched one of the most successful financial investment companies in the industry.

Ramses sets his sights on Blake and will stop at nothing until she allows him to become one of her clients. Blake is wary of Ramses, he has a hold on her and she fell in love with a client once and it completely destroyed her.

Ramses is determined to show Blake what she’s truly worth but they both have past hurts that may prevent them from future happiness. Can they find a path to a future together?

I had a tough time connecting with these characters. A big part of it was the pet play in the bedroom. I LOVE dark spicy romance but I couldn’t get into the pet play. It was a quick spicy read but marking this one a 3 star for me!

Disclaimer: I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Minx was so much more than anticipated. I devoured it so quickly. If you have an open mind to kink play, this may be for you.

The book had kink and spice but also depth to the characters, which was slowly revealed as the main characters opened up to each other about troubled pasts.

Blake is such a strong fmc, she’s had a seriously troubled start to life but the escort business threw her a lifeline. She struggles with trust and it was beautiful watching her slowly learn to trust.

Ramses is a billionaire alpha male who men in the business fear. Once he sets his sight on something, he conquers it. Blake was no exception. He needed to be on her roster. What I did appreciate was that although he’s forceful in his mission to get her, he respects her boundaries.

The artwork in this book is everythingggg. Every book needs beautiful artwork throughout. It really adds to the visual experience of a fictional world.

I love Mrs Sophie Lark, so when I saw this eARC up for grabs I knew I had to jump on it. Minx is definitely something different compared to anything else I’ve read before, including from Sophie. Although it was intriguing, I couldn’t get behind the “Minx” aspect of the story. It’s personally just not my cup of tea and that’s okay! Other than that, I enjoyed the book, and I enjoyed the characters.

Ramses is IMMEDIATELY intrigued by Blake, and forces his way into her life and her business to make her, his. Blake is stubborn and refuses to lose money over a man who finds himself absolutely awestruck with her after she already made that mistake previously. But something just connected between Blake and Ramses and they couldn’t deny the attraction.

This was incredibly spicy, but I also loved the character growth ESPECIALLY with Blake. She struggled so much with trust before Ramses and he really was just everything that she needed.

I enjoyed the story, loved the characters, but my biggest complaint was the “Minx” play as previously mentioned.

Thank you to Sophie Lark, NetGalley and Sourcebooks Bloom Books for the eARC of Minx in exchange for an honest review! Available April 2nd!

I have mixed feelings about this book, but overall it was pretty good. It surprised me in many ways - mostly the depth of the characters and random heartfelt chapters in combination with the spice. It felt like an unbalanced mix, but also made it more enjoyable to read which is why I'm giving it a 3 star

I want to start this review by saying this book might be really appealing for some people, but not for me! There were even themes in here I was super interested in, but there were quite a few moments that just weren't hitting for me personally.

One thing I really enjoyed was Blake's concept - a self-made woman who now is a god-tier escort, enough to have a country-club-like exclusive roster of clients. She often felt powerful and got mad at the MC appropriately (however, the resolution felt too quick and sudden to these genuinely founded arguments). Blake and her attitude were certainly a highlight.

A huge theme in this story is regarding pet play, which is not something I mind, but something about the internal monologues that had me laughing more than being engaged. The same can be said about the stock trading descriptions, which didn't feel as in-depth as I wanted to get immersed (and were a large part of the plot in this story).

Overall, I think for the right reader this could be a great erotica read. Unfortunately, it didn't quite have the depth in either arena (the plot or the spicy scenes) that I personally prefer.

This one was pretty hard for me to read. I picked this one up because I've heard so many good things about Sophie Lark and this book in particular but I could tell pretty quickly this book wasn't meant for me.

If you love the rich elite getting richer, this is for you. Also, the kink just wasn't for me.

I didn't managed to get into this Escort / Client Romance. It's a dual POV with a lot of spice. It just wasn't for me.
I voluntarily review this ARC and the opinion expressed here is mine.

I received a copy from Netgalley. I wanted to give this book a honest go. It was going okay until.....
Pet play...no thanks. It lost me from there.

I loved this book! Ramses and Blake are quite the power couple. I loved Sophie Lark’s depiction of Blake especially - she was such a strong female character and I appreciated her bold attitude paired with her softer, but still sharp edges. Ramses was her perfect match. I loved how each of their flaws were introduced and addressed. Just really well done.

I love a standalone contemporary romance especially when I have been reading a lot of heavy world building fantasies. I'm currently on a contemporary romance binge and this is IT! It's romantic erotic and kinky but not overly dark or dramatic. This is my second Sophie Lark my first of her complete standalones and I can't get enough of her. If you want something fun and spicy with power dynamics but isn't gonna start into the dark romance catalog this is it! It's fun and honestly I needed fun (5 stars)

Thank you to NetGalley, SOURCEBOOKS Bloom Books, and Sophie Lark for the opportunity to read and review this edition of Minx!

Wow. Okay, I'm a new-ish reader of Sophie's and I'm more than impressed by her clear dedication to researching the hell out of the subject she is dedicating her writing to. From the mafia to military to serial killers and billionaires; this was a step out of the box that I was not expecting and when I started reading the first Minx scene, I was not sure how to feel. I kept an open mind and the way Sophie writes gives you so much more than the whole picture. I have newfound respect for sex workers, for the kinks that people might dismiss on the superficial alone, and most of all - the author. At the end of the book in the author's notes, we discover something about the FMC that is based on the author's personal experiences, etc. (no spoilers) but this really gave me pause because I relate to this as well, both myself and my own children. Maybe being a part of that world made it so that I viewed Blake without the label, per se, but able to see the characteristics that made Blake, Blake. It was refreshing to see a character 'like this' but not labeled specifically. I really appreciate the author for including these parts of Blake. And what can we say about Ramses? These two are magnetized to each other and they 'get' each other (eventually) in all of the ways that matter.

I urge people to read this book by looking beyond the kink aspect and peeling back a layer of what's below. Once you allow yourself to understand the why behind Minx, there's a really beautiful story underneath.

As for the rest, the spice is out of this world and the secondary characters, Sadie and Briggs, are freaking vibes. I want their book next!

This story was very unique and I loved the banter between the FMC and MMC. There are scattered songs and I love when those fill the pages. I loved learning the background of the main characters. This does involve pet play and it was done very well.

This book really didn't have a plot. It was more of a vibe. It wasn't bad and I really enjoy what the author did!

What did I just read, and why did it take me so long to discover Sophie Lark?
.
I had a slight doubt about Blake but her way of seeing the world, business and men makes total sense to me. From the beginning I suspected it and I was happy as I always am with books that portray a neurodivergent person , inside of the autism spectrum, and show how incredibly resilient and strong they are, how they can adapt to distressing situations and get ahead.
.
I don't know if many understand the connection she has with Ramses, but it is beautiful. At first it's all about who's one step ahead of and perception, but as they give in they find a new dynamic that makes them vulnerable and true to themselves.
.
I loved the respect and well written words that were used in how sex workers were portrayed, for me it was perfection from start to finish. Except for the first date at Ramses' house, it broke my heart to see the raw vulnerability of this scene.
.
There are times when you pick up a book and say "it's great that Stand Alone, so great" and when you finish it you curse saying "why is it Stand Alone?!” , this is that kind of book. I could read more books within this world, Briggs, Jonessy even Desmond story
.
Anyway, if you like power games, two self-made people who lose themselves in a game of power in the stock market and finances and find themselves creating a new world together, you are going to love this book.
.
There is mention of topics such as foster care, child abuse, parental abandonment, death of a parent, loneliness and mental health, but everything seen from two strong and resilient characters, it is one of those books that makes you feel more strength in the pain than the characters surpassed. And you're going to love the ending that Sophie Lark gives them
.
Thanks to Sophie Lark and Sourcebooks bloom for give a copy of this re edition of this amazing book in exchange for my honest opinion.

As a big fan of Sophie’s, this definitely was her style. However, I went in blind only know it was written by Sophie, There was almost too much spice. With reading her entire backlog, I feel that this was meant to be just that.. SPICY. The romance between Ramses and Blake took a back seat. If I was rating purely on the spice, Sophie writes awesome scenes without using wordage that takes you out of it, so that would be a 5 star. But including the plot, I’m going to go with a 3 overall. Enjoyable, but prefer her serial killers and mafia men.

Really unique storyline told in a non-cringey way. The love story between the main characters was beautifully written and believable.

What I love about Sophie Lark’s books are she never writes the same kinds of books. She doesn’t stick to one template of writing. You never know what you’re going to get with a new book of hers. I absolutely loved this book. I love the chemistry and the connection between Ramses and Blake. I really felt their passion through the pages. I will always read anything Sophie writes!

Thank you NetGalley and Bloom Books for the arc of this book.
