I watch the clock anxiously. My husband Mark should have been home hours ago. Where is he? When at last I hear a noise at the door, I breathe a sigh of relief, but it's the police - Mark is wanted in connection with a young woman's death. My blood turns to ice. Mark swears he had nothing to do with it, that the beautiful blond woman was a colleague, nothing more. But he refuses to tell me where he really was that night. I believe he's not a killer - but I know he's hiding something. It wouldn't be the first time.
This is a well-written, edge of your seat read. I was pulled in at the beginning, and it did not let me go again until the end. The story is told from Kate's perspective. The pace is perfectly set. There's quite a lot going on in this book, but it all has a relevant part to play. I couldn't turn the pages quickly enough, desperate to know if Mark was guilty. This story is filled with lies and deceit.
I would like to thank #NetGalley #Bookouture and the author #LizLawler for my ARC of #MyHusbandsLies in exchange for an honest review.
So intriguing with thrilling and suspenseful mysteries throughout. This was captivating and I kept flipping pages dying to find out what would happen next.
Thank you to #NetGalley, Liz Lawler and #Bookouture for the opportunity to read an advance copy of MY HUSBAND’S LIES, to be published 20 November 2023. 4/5 Stars for this slow burn thriller in which Kate has some unusual behaviors. Her husband is accused of murder and then is hospitalized and comatose. Kate’s actions were somewhat questionable and they resulted in a far-fetched finale. A good read for anyone who identifies with a professional couple with a young child who are thrown into the turmoil of life. #NetGalley #Bookouture #LizLawler #MYHUSBAND’SLIES
My Husband’s Lies was one of those books I just simply couldn’t put down. I have a pretty busy life so I don’t always have a ton of time to read, but this was one of those books that I made time to read and maybe even read a little longer than I should have on some days. While I had a inkling early on about the true twist in this book, the author did a great job of keeping me on my toes and making me question everything I thought I knew. My original thought about what the twist may be ended up being correct for the most part, but Lawler took me on a wild ride that truly had me reading like a mad woman. The first couple of chapters while interesting did not necessarily completely pull me in, but a few chapters in and I got hooked and couldn’t put it down. Highly recommend this psychological thriller, especially if you’re looking for a quick fast paced read. Thank you NetGalley and the publishers for this ARC.
This book made no sense at all. Imagine your husband is a suspect in a murder and before the police gets a chance to arrest him, he is the victim of a hit and run and ends up in a coma in the hospital. What would you do? I'm absolutely certain that I would NOT leave my 5 year old child with a literal stranger and take off to Spain to start asking around about the murder. And if I *did* leave my child with a stranger (why? There's a local grandmother for crying out loud), once I came home and saw that the stranger had redecorated my house, rearranged my furniture and started wearing my clothes I DEFINITELY wouldn't have said "oh, wow, that looks so much better than it did before - you're a gem!"
On top of the poor decision-making skills of the protagonist, the conversations in the book felt very stilted, and none of the characters were relatable.

My Husband's Lies certainly keeps you turning the pages and trying to find out what's going to happen next. When her husband is accused of murder, Kate just can't believe that he has anything to do with it and try and she might to prove that, it isn't long before her whole life seems set to come tumbling down around her ears.
I'm as willing as the next man to suspend disbelief a little when it comes to murder mysteries and thrillers. I'll happily accept that one person seems to spend their whole life stumbling over dead bodies, or that something unplausable might happen to move a thriller along at breakneck speed. But I do have my limits and it seems that My Husband's Lies found them. It's not that it's completely unbelievable or anything, but I think that Kate might just be one of the stupidest characters I've ever come across. I was drawn into her story, but couldn't help almost shouting at the book: 'No! Don't do that!' She didn't seem to want to listen to me though.
This was a good read and well-written. It would have got more stars if I hadn't found Kate to be such a complete fool. she did seem to bring a lot of things on herself.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own and given voluntarily.
My Husband's Lies by Liz Lawler is a well structured storyline, which is intense, immersive, slowly evolving and highly textured. I thought the suspense was well woven throughout the book and kept me turning pages.
Lawler is a fantastic writer. I thought it was really well paced and the characters give just enough away all the way through to keep you guessing.
I’ve read a couple of her titles and she always keeps me glued to the pages and anxiously waiting for her next title.
I would like to thank NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read this ahead of its publication date in return for my honest review.
I started this book as I’ve enjoyed past work by this author. Sadly this latest offering falls way short for me. The story is far fetched and totally unbelievable. The characters are unlikeable and I just couldn’t find anything interesting in them. The ending was disjointed and did not deliver a gran finale.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
Mark was a pilot. He was accused to murder a British young lady in Barcelona. The young lady was his colleague, but Mark said he was innocent.
Kate who married to Mark. She trusted her husband, but still she knew he was not totally honest. Mark was hiding secrets.
Later Mark had a car accident and got coma. The police said it was an accident but was that true?
The whole story was strongly focused on Kate. Her own POV. Therefore I had to be patient to wait for the reveal, whether Mark was innocent or he’s guilty. For me this was a slow-burnt thriller. It went faster in the second half of the book. The twist at the end was surprising!

4⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Kate and Mark have a young son Jacob. Mark is a pilot and when he is questioned about a women he knew who was killed things start to unwind and get crazy.
Next he is an accident and found by a farmer and is in a medically induced coma. The police believe Mark killed the woman. Kate believes her husband is innocent but still feels he is hiding something.
Kate controls the narrative and I could not wait to find out if Mark was guilty! His colleagues show up at their door and they add another layer to see fast paced Psychological thriller.
Available November 20. Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for this advanced copy.

I enjoyed this book though I found the story a bit slow at first. The story was also quite predictable during the first few chapters. The fun lies in the last remaining chapters. Such a great twist in the story and I would recommend this to friends :) Thank you for granting my permission to read the book, Netgalley!
I really enjoyed this book. Several different plot lines that end up somehow tying together. There were moments of dialogue I found myself getting a little lost at the end, but some rereading helped clarify things for me. Definitely recommend this one!
Publish date 11/20/2023!
This was everything you want from a thriller/mystery. I never figured out the "who did it" until it was the chapter that told us and I was so so surprised. All of the characters, including the child, were so well developed and you really knew what was driving them. Loved this book!
My Husband’s Lies grabbed me hook, line, and sinker! A fast paced psychological thriller with twists on every page.
A husband on the verge of being arrested for the murder of a woman, but then said husband gets run down and ends up in the hospital. Meanwhile their young son is being looked after by a friend of the family, and a dangerous divide starts to creep in between them all.
The characters were great and pretty relatable. I just could not for the life of me figure out who the bad guy was, and it had a fantastic ending.
Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC in return for my honest opinion.

Wow, what an incredible story! Hooked from the prologue until the last page. Heaps of twists and turns and shock value. The question is can you really trust your husband?
ARC FOR HONEST REVIEW
Liz Lawler does it again! This book was clever and captivating. And I might have a case of whiplash from trying to figure it all out. There was plenty of tension and lies. Top it off with great reveals.
Thank you NetGalley, Liz Lawler and Bookouture for the opportunity to read and review this book
My Husbands's Lies is the first book I've read from Liz Lawler and the book started really well. Kate who is a Doctor find that her husband, Mark has. been grounded from flight as a pilot impending an investigation. From this point onwards, Kate life is thrown into disarray as she tries to untangle, what people keep telling her. This leads Kate not only relying on her Mum but also Marks best friend, Robert and a co worker Olivia.
There was a few twists and turns throughout the book and what I do believe a fair bit of manipulation and gaslighting. This can lead the most rational, level headed person into making some naive decision making. I feel that Liz succeeded into doing this through the narrative and I can also get why people may or may not connect with that side of her.
This book raised a lot of emotion's for me, which, for me, is the whole purpose of nook reading! Thank you Netgalley and Liz Lawler for this ARC and ill definitely be reading more of your books
This book had a really exciting start and I thought I was going to enjoy it. However, as happens so often to me recently I reached about halfway and then something happened that would never have happened, and it went slowly downhill for me after that. I could sort of understand someone leaving their young son with a complete stranger because they needed to get to hospital to see their very ill husband. Yes, I’ll let that one go, but to come back and find that the said stranger had completely restyled their sitting room? Not just rearranging the furniture that was already there, but bringing furniture down from upstairs, clearing ornaments and picture frames from a cabinet, placing new ornaments and a candle hither and thither … Wouldn’t anyone in their right mind think that was at least a very strange thing to do? I just couldn’t take the story seriously from that point, and the plot (in my opinion) was too over-the-top. I thought the writing was great, and with a bit of toning down the plot could have been a decent one but it didn’t work out for me. I’ve given it 3 stars because of the good first half. Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the arc.
An absolutely brilliant fast paced psychological thriller read with twists on every page.
The characters were great I felt as though I knew them all and I just couldn't stop reading it was so well written with a fantastic ending.
Everything was brought to a satisfactory conclusion which I never guessed.
Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for this brilliant ARC which I have no hesitation in recommending. Well done Liz Lawler, think this is your best yet.
A fantastic premise and a gripping start to the story. The ideal family; a doctor married to an airline pilot with an adorable little boy, but when Mark is accused of murdering a young woman while on a layover in Barcelona and refuses to tell Kate where he was, the cracks start to appear.
I enjoyed reading about Kate’s investigative trip to Barcelona and her priorities as a mother were well balanced in the first half of the book, but after that it fell apart a bit for me. Her naivety and trust in a stranger went too far for me to suspend my disbelief, especially when her house was being restyled,
There were some great twists, which kept me engaged enough to finish the book, despite having guessed who the villain was fairly early on.
3 ⭐️ Thanks to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for an ARC in return for an honest review.
