This was a solid read. I would recommend it to others to make their own conclusions. It started off really promising with the lies of a husband and a wife looking for the truth. Many twists and turns later and it's gone in a completely different direction. I thought the main character was really dumb and ignored a lot of red flags. I dislike the "crazy for no reason expect that she's a woman" trope but if that's your jam you will enjoy this one! Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I tried so hard. I just cannot get interested in this one. I don’t have any attachment to any characters aside from the dog. I’m glad to see others really enjoyed it. I do appreciate the opportunity to review it from NetGalley.
I just reviewed My Husband's Lies by Liz Lawler. #MyHusbandsLies #NetGalley
I don’t know what it was about this book. It started out good, but as the story went on, it didn’t feel like it was well thought out.
My Husband’s Lies tells the story of Kate’s husband, Mark, a pilot who is suspected of the murder of a woman in Barcelona. I really didn’t enjoy how Kate was so naive the whole time, and she sort of just accepted it when Mark needed space from her and their son. The character backgrounds didn’t feel fully fleshed out, and I ended up skimming through a lot of the chapters.
The story had the potential to be great, but it kind of left me a bit confused at the end.
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Of course you trust the people you love. Love and trust do go hand in hand, because without trust there would not be any love and vice versa.
nAnd then the police knocks on your door accusing your dear husband of murder. How would you feel about that? Would you still trust him for 100% or would you feel the doubt creeping in your mind? After all, how good do you know really someone? Everybody has a darker side and things they want to keep to themselves, right? And, honestly, his behaviour does not help you to believe him.
Fortunately, there are some people who want to jump in and help you the best they can so you can have the time to dig deeper, hoping to uncover the truth.
And boy oh boy, you did unbox some nasty things...
This is a very enjoyable book. The author takes us on a journey through a web of lies and deceit, but in the end, as per usual, the truth will come to the surface.
I liked the characters, playing their role wonderfully, but I liked Mark the least. In my opinion he did not put the right persons fist. 5 stars
Thank you
I enjoyed the book. It had many twists you did not see coming. There were parts I found annoying, like Kate and Mark just not talking everything out. Or Kate not seeing the red flags. But at the same time if they did that, you would not have a book. I had a feeling who did it and was right at end. But was still an enjoyable read.
Thanks to the author, publisher and netgalley for the opportunity to read before release.
I always enjoy this authors books once I start I know that it is going to be a rollercoaster of a ride and wow this one did not disappoint. It had a bit of everything murder, lies, obsession, and lots of secrets which help build a tense ending. I will definitely be recommending my husbands lies to everyone who loves a twisty thriller with lots of twists and turns. Thanks to netgallery and the publisher for my advanced copy.
A really good book that will keep you guessing until the very end. There were so many suspicious people and lots of lies being told and I had no idea until the very end about who was the bad guy - I think everyone was my first pick at least once! The story really pulled me in and I read the whole thing in two days as it was so difficult to put down because i just needed to know more. The story was wrapped up really well too. Thank you to NetGalley for letting me review this book in exchange for my honest review.
I would rate this a 3.5. It was good and the story kept you guessing. The plot became obvious prior to being announced but was still engaging to get the details of the events even if you'd figured out the outcome. Some moments were annoying because they hinged on a simple telling of the truth clearing everything up. I was into it but the not quite 4 rating came from the epilogue mainly. It felt like it was rushed and not written to the same standard as the rest of the book. It didn't leave me feeling complete, it left me annoyed. I would still try other books from this author and see how it goes.
Unfortunately, this book has the most gullible and naive main character and it annoyed me to no end.
The author has us believe that Kate, who is a doctor by the way, and assumed intelligent and capable, would let some random woman she has never met before move into her house to look after her son.
The entire premise of the book, while interesting at first, ultimately came out as predictable and not fun.
I want to first thank the author, publisher, and Netgalley for the opportunity to read an early release of this book. The prologue immediately grabbed my attention. This was a book where I kept saying "one more chapter" and ultimately ended up finishing it in one day. The twists and turns within this book were incredible, the plot within this book kept me on my toes. This book was a page-turner and I will be recommending it to all of my thriller lovers.
This book was great!! It's one of thise novels that you need to be careful when reviewing because you could give away key details of the story and spoil it.
The story was well crafted and I found the characters development was great. The main character was likeable albeit very naive. That being said, a lot of people out there are equally naive and this only makes her more realistic (I've read so many Mystery & Thrillers that I forget people may ignore red flags in real life!!)
The ending was GOOD. Like, really really good.
This was my first book by Liz Lawler and won't be the last

I would like to thank the publisher and author for my advanced review copy of the book. This is my honest review
Tense domestic drama - murder, lies, obsession, and secrets upon secrets build to a powerful climax. You may guess what is going on early on, but didn't interfere with the story.
Finally, a real page turner that had me up till 3AM to finish. Truly so many twists and turns though I did have an initial suspect for the real villain pretty early on. Pretty well paced, but the middle dragged on a bit and I definitely found myself skimming during that part.
Thank you NetGalley and the publishers for the arc in exchange for a fair and honest review.
What a tangled web that we weave. My Husband's Lies was a page turner and is filled with secrets and lies.
This one will keep you guessing throughout the entire book with all the twists and turns; wondering who you can truly trust and believe.
The book started out very fast paced, in the middle it slowed down a bit, but then eventually picked back up. The characters were well written except I don't particularly care for how naive the wife was and how she believed everything that she was told but then again there are people like that in every day life.
The description of the book, My Husband's Lies, sounded intriguing, so I was excited to receive an ARC. While parts of it felt slow at times, there were enough plot twists to keep me entertained. I love a book where I don't know who to root for, and that was exactly what happened here. The ending, while somewhat predictable, was still fun to read. Overall, I enjoyed reading My Husband's Lies and cant wait to read more from the author.
A true tangled web of lies. This book more than pulled me in I was so engrossed in it I couldn't put it down.
The twists and turns did a number on me even though i kind of suspected who the villain was.
The main character was likable but at times i could not get over how naive she was with certain things. So this irritated me. Orher than that, i loved this story.
Thank you to bookouture and Netgalley for allowing me to read this story for an honest review

I really enjoyed this book! So many twists and turns. I did find some parts of the book slow but I really enjoyed it. I never knew what to expect. I would definitely recommend this book!
Thank you NetGalley, Liz and bookouture for the ARC!
This is one of those books that really draws you in and keeps your attention as it has plot twists that kept me guessing.
Loved this, a real page turner. Well written characters and a very different story line. Had me guessing until almost the end. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my copy. Big five stars from me.
Kate's husband comes home from a trip and is under investigation for a woman's murder in Barcelona. Due to past events, Kate is not sure if she can trust him or not; until he gets hit by a car. Kate when leaves her son to Robert and Olivia-a friend and woman her husband works with, while she goes to Barcelona to investigate what happened. Parts of this book were predictable- but only to a point. Overall, it was good, but I did find it was slower in the middle and i skimmed more.
