Overall, I really enjoyed this dark, chilling, well-plotted story. It was intense and fast paced and I raced through this in a few hours, frantically turning the pages, desperate to find out how it was all going to be resolved.

This was a great rollercoaster of a thriller and I kept changing my mind about who was the guilty party as we moved through the story. I felt so sorry for the poor wife who was being lied to by everyone and couldn’t even trust her own husband to tell her all the truth about what had happened in Barcelona. As her world starts to fall apart a new friend seems to be a saviour but can she trust her friends as well. Loved it.

Characters so spot on and took me to a place that I didn't see coming
Loved absolutely everything about this book.

Thanks to the author, the publisher and Netgalley for an early release of this book.

This talented author has written a page turner. Secrets and red herrings kept me guessing. The characters are realistic and keep the story moving quickly. Mystery and intrigue. Some likable characters and some not so much. Wondering if the main character was really the person her husband said she was….that was especially intriguing. Try to discern the honest characters from those who were deceitful…another puzzle. Thanks Netgalley.

A young woman is murdered in Barcelona. The police turn up at Kate's door, looking for her husband Mark. He resembles the suspect.
Mark is involved in a hit and run, and cannot be arrested as he is in hospital in a coma. Kate only has her mother to assist her with looking after her son, and is running herself ragged. Mark's best friend, Robert arrives with a solution. Olivia is a colleague, and takes over running Kate's home like clockwork, and taking extra special care of Jacob.
Kate has to clear Mark's name before he is lost to her forever.

Wow, this is one roller coaster of a book!! In real life, do we trust everyone we know or come into contact with? Should we trust anyone at all?
The twists and turns in this book will boggle your mind. I could hardly turn the pages fast enough to see what happened next!

I recommend this book, it will leave the reader breathless to the end.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

This story started out very promisingly, and the first half unfolded in a way that was very engrossing.

Kate is a very competent doctor, married to highly-respected pilot Mark. They are a happy couple, and have a young son together named Jacob. So, when Mark is accused of murdering a young British woman during a trip to Barcelona, Kate is utterly confounded.

Very soon after this, and before the police investigation is fully underway, Mark is injured by a car and left in a coma. His best friend Robert and colleague Olivia step in to help Kate look after Jacob and support her through the ordeal of waiting for Mark to wake up.

With her family essentially consisting of her husband, young son and mother, and having fallen out with her best friend Sophie after the latter came on to Mark a few years ago, Kate is grateful for their help.

But while waiting for Mark to regain consciousness, Kate slowly begins to realise that there is more going on here than meets the eye - and there is plenty of reason to question whether she can in fact trust anyone around her, including her husband...

I found some aspects of the second half of the book frustrating, because Kate (and not just Kate, either) seemed hell-bent on ignoring red flags wrt certain individuals. Even accepting that she was struggling at the time, some of the signs seemed pretty hard to ignore, and should have sent her screaming in the opposite direction.

Her unwillingness to call the police when obviously dangerous people were in close proximity was also inexplicable, and it made it hard to feel sympathetic towards her.

The trip to Barcelona was done well though, and Detective Sharma and some of the other supporting characters - such as Julian and Abe, as well as Vaughn and Josh - were well-drawn and highly sympathetic.

The story also had some satisfying twists. Overall, it was a reasonably good thriller, but it had potential to be far better.
