It’s so refreshing to see a sweet graphic novel that middle schoolers would like. Maya is headed to cooking camp but a simple mistake puts her in a very different cap. The plot is full of laughs, friendship, and teen drama making it a great read for kids!

I loved everything about this graphic novel. From the characters, to the plotline, and just the fun art this book just speaks of joy, growth, and friendship. I have already started talking up this book at work with patrons and coworkers. This will be an easy book to promote, and I am excited to do so. It has perfect summer reading vibes.

This graphic novel was so adorable! I love a middle grade graphic novel and I love vampires, so it was perfect for me! The art is adorable and the messaging about speaking up for yourself, being kind to people who don't look like you, and embracing change was nice.

This was cute - good illustrations and some funny bits, plus the standard middle grade messaging of "just be yourself and people will like you."

I found this graphic novel funny and cute. Despite it dealing with vampires, the main character is relatable and realistic.

This is a super cute graphic novel with VAMPIRES at SUMMER CAMP! I love that idea so much, especially since summer camp is primarily an outdoors during the daytime thing and vampires are typically considered creatures of the night. There are a lot of jokes about vampire lore and pop culture which is always fun. The artwork is colorful and detailed, the panels flow nicely and the scenes are well depicted. The story itself flows really naturally from one scene to the next and the characters are full developed. They are unique and adorable and their actions are definitely what one would expect from kids who are trying to make friends (or just survive among vampires) at summer camp. They each have their own style and personality. It's a sweet story about friendship, belonging, acceptance, being different, and finding your voice. There are a lot of great lessons for kids wrapped up in a fun, entertaining story. I really enjoyed reading this graphic novel and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a funny, sweet and thoughtful story for kids!

I love anything that parodies popular culture in such a good way. This was such a cute and fun story! It holds your attention and moves at a good pace, it was very inventive.

This is a sweet graphic novel focusing on friendship and how your friends help you become a better version of yourself. I liked how so many characters were vampires but it wasn't meant to be a scary thing- it would be good to give to a kid with a fear of vampires. Good portrayal of single parenthood and accepting your parent's significant other. There's also humor throughout and bright fun illustrations.

This was such a cute story with such valuable lessons on acceptance and self-worth. I love anything told through the lens of Vampires and this one did not disappoint. The artwork was fun and colorful. I loved that they were at a Vampire summer camp and drank their blood out of juice boxes. That was such a fun touch. I would highly recommend this one!

This book surprised me, I really enjoyed it. The illustrations and story line were great. This book was about friendship and differences that people have. The differences can still bring people together. I also enjoyed how the main character was shy and at the end of the story had some great friends. There was also the aspect of lying, which was handled really well. When I requested the book, I was worried that it would be too much about vampires. This was presented really well, it was not scary, but actually a bit funny. This will be a book that I tell my students about, but probably wouldn't use it for a lesson.

This was a super cute story about a girl who accidentally goes to vampire summer camp instead of culinary camp. I can see this being very popular with elementary readers, especially for those looking for something after reading through all of Raina Telgemeier. While fun, the book also tackles bravery, standing up for yourself, and unlikely friendships.

"Summer Vamp" is the story of a lonely 12 year old girl who thinks she is going to culinary summer camp, which has been a dream of hers for a long time. She gets on the wrong bus by accident and ends up at a summer camp for vampires. Maya is initially terrified of being discovered as a human among all of the vampires, but she soon becomes close friends with her bunkmates, and she learns to speak up for herself and take some chances along the way. Ultimately, this is a story about being yourself, speaking up for yourself, and making friends with people who may be a little different from you. It's an incredibly sweet story, while also being hilarious throughout. The art is fantastic, and readers will fall in love with all of the characters, even grumpy camp counselor Willow. Highly recommended.

Image thinking vampires are not real and that your going to cooking camp but, when you get to camp and sit down to lunch you get a juice box full of blood. This was a fun read.

This is a great graphic novel about a girl who got mixed up and ended up at the wrong camp. She hits some bumps along the way but figures out who she is and how hard it can be to fit in. I loved this graphic novel. The plot moved along at a nice pace and the storyline is one anyone can relate to. Great graphic novel, one of my favorites to date.

After a school year where she didn’t make many friends, Maya isn’t expecting a very exciting summer. Especially when she learns that her dad’s girlfriend is moving in with them. But when they offer her a chance at a summer cooking camp, maybe the summer won’t be so bad after all.

When leaving for camp, Maya accidentally gets on the wrong bus. Instead of cooking camp she finds herself at a camp for vampires! She’s got a lot to learn if she’s going to survive the summer with vampires. But maybe, she’ll make some friends along the way.

Maya is such a fantastic, well-rounded character at the center of this story. And the friends she makes at (the wrong) summer camp are so sweet as well. They show her that it’s not as hard to make friends as she might have thought, even if they don’t have the same likes or interests. They all form a bond by the end that I hope carries into the future!

I also loved the art style for this. It worked so well for the overall tone of the story. The little hints about vampires throughout were fun to see, and you’re on edge wondering if anyone is going to find out Maya isn’t a vampire. It makes for fun tension throughout the story.

All in all, if you love friendship themed, summer camp stories, definitely check this one out in May!

Wow, I adored this book! And I know the kids at my library will too. It's funny, heartwarming, and super easy to read. I think it'll be a big hit with fans of manga/anime. This book has a sweet, feel-good vibe without ever becoming cheesy or boring. The main character is easy to root for, and I love how she finds friends. Also, I appreciate that the adults in this book are generally positive/supportive, too, instead of going for cookie-cutter villains. Overall, a fast and heartwarming read, and one I definitely recommend!
