Well, here is where I get mad at Martha Waters- why is this the final book in this series?! I read the first Regency Vows novel in February 2020 when I had a horrendous cold (that took me out for a month but somehow wasn’t covid…) and I’ve been hooked ever since. These banter-filled Regency romances are chef’s kiss, and each couple keeps me entertained from start to finish. (Also, the audiobooks get A+ from me, as well.) I have to say, I also love that she is able to work in the previous couples without it feeling like we are stuck in the past. (A history joke for you…)

This sweet and funny story was a wonderful wrap-up to a brilliant series. Waters knows the romance genre inside and out and she knows how to hit its notes perfectly. I don’t read a ton of romance (mostly Martha’s books and others she has recommended to me), but I think that To Woo and To Wed is a great representative for the genre. With Bridgerton bringing romance into the spotlight, and Regency romance in general, there are a lot more people picking these books up. And I think that Martha’s books are perfect for the new romance reader or the experienced!

This was a lovely ending to a wonderful series. Every book from The Regency Vows was a 4-5⭐️ read for me. I don’t think I was the only fan of the series eagerly awaiting West and Sophie’s story.
Second chance isn’t always my favorite trope - the fact that the relationship failed once before always seems to leave the story a little more wistful rather than the hopeful tone of new love. I won’t say that wasn’t there in To Woo but they make for such a charming couple, it seemed to suit them, and the struggle made their made happy ending all the more triumphant.
If I have one complaint, it’s that the shenanigans and humor of this story took more of a backseat than in previous books. The humor and absurdity is what has made the use of the lack of communication between love interests fun and amusing. Without it, the miscommunication trope is just irritating, and I found myself rolling my eyes at Sophie more than once. I still very much enjoyed the book, however, and would recommend the entire series. I hope to read more by Waters in the future.

I've greatly enjoyed The Regency Vows series and have been waiting for West and Sophie's story. The final installment did not disappoint! I could not put this one down, Sophie and West have such compelling chemistry. Their friend group is so much fun and I loved the manipulations that prodded Sophie toward West.
To Woo and To Wed is a humorous and electric story full of sparks and energy!

I love fake dating to romance stories, I am sucker for them and found Waters books fun and laugh out load. I have not read them series in order but that does not seem to matter. Each story of these sister is just as good in whichever order you read them in. I love these sisters and the bond they share doing whatever they can to help each other, even if it risks their own happiness.

West and Sophie have this special bond that holds their hearts together. But years later after a terrible accident that leaves West with broken bones and a broken heart. Sophie now years later is a widow and has no desire to marry again. But for her sister's happiness she will fake an engagement, and the person that will help her is West, he owes her anyway. Can they move from the past and pull this off and also keep their surfacing feelings in check??

Thank you to NetGalley and Atria Books for copy of this book for my honest review.

I ended up listening to this one after it had been sitting on my NetGalley shelf for a while. The male narrator wasn’t my favorite, but I still really enjoyed the story. I always like the fake-dating trope. I also thought that the characters past together added great depth and banter between the characters. This book can be read as a stand-alone, but you will enjoy the appearances of several familiar faces if you have read the others in this series.

I was looking forward to this one because I’ve enjoyed others in this series in the past. Unfortunately, I struggled to connect with this one and lost interest part of the way into the book.

This was such a delight to read. While I'm sad this series is over, it was a great ending! West and Sophie were a long time coming and they were everythingggg!

Martha Waters very quickly became one of my favourite voices in the historical romance genre! I am so sad, that this is the final installment in this series as I've enjoyed everyone. This time we finally get to figure out just what happened between West and Sophie!! And was it ever worth the wait, I love a good fake marriage trope but with the supporting cast of this book all being nosey troublemakers this was even better. So glad West and Sophie got their happy ending and I can't wait to read more from Martha Waters in the future.

Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for providing me with an arc for an honest review.

This was a sweet way to end a historical romance series that I have loved. I've been waiting for Sophie and West's story since the beginning. I enjoyed how their story focused on the love they've had all along, but seem to keep getting ripped apart by different people and circumstances. The steamy scenes were well done, as the pair has such great chemistry. It was a fun twist on a second chance romance adding in a fake engagement, however I'm still undecided on how I feel about the amount of flashbacks, especially as I listened to it on audio.

These are such a fun historical romance books and while I’m sorry to see it end, this was a very good conclusion to the series.

West and Sophie were in love years before, but circumstances caused Sophie to marry someone else. Now, she’s a widow and has concocted a hare-brained scheme to pretend to be engaged so that her sister will feel free to marry her own love. West, whose father has been pressuring him to marry, agrees. Of course, they both realize the feelings they have for each other never went away, but can Sophie be convinced to overcome her fears, especially because West’s overbearing father is blackmailing them not to go through with their nuptials?

This book is perfect for fans of historical romances with second chances, betrothals of convenience, and a found family friendship dynamic.

Martha Waters has done it again! No one captures that modern-feeling historical romance quite like her! I would follow her anywhere!

Oh my heart! I have been waiting nearly four years for Sophie and West's book. And I can say with absolute certainty that this by far my favorite in the series, taking the spot from To Have and To Hoax. Sophie and West's tragic heartbreak at the start of the story is so hard to read. But boy do I love the drama and situation it presents for these two.

Sophie, love after my own heart, is so determined to take care of everyone else in her family that she neglects her own feelings so often. It was so hard to read that part of her story. As someone who does that a lot, it's hard to see it and realize how it's coming off towards others. I'm glad that Sophie has come to terms with that part of herself and realizes she needs to do things for herself finally. I will say it comes on a bit quickly, this revelation. But it doesn't take away too much from me overall.

West is absolutely wonderful in this story. I truly loved him more than anything else I can possibly say. His determination to prove to Sophie how much he loves her feels reminiscent of The Notebook, but in a much healthier way.

I will say the surprise marriage at the end was such a good twist I should have seen coming but didn't. I am sad this series is over as there are so many characters I wish had more book time. Sophie's whole family is wonderful and I honestly could have read all of their stories and been so perfectly content. Harriet and Betsy added so much comic relief to the serious moments of the stories. But on top of that, I loved Alexandra and her desire to take care of Sophie in the way Sophie has taken care of her. It was a beautiful story of sisters. They really gave me an air of the Bennett sisters in their own unique way.

I loved this book so much and I will probably need to reread the whole series over again so I can fully appreciate it's amazing-ness.

I would like to preface this review by saying that I had no idea that this book was the final installment of a series when I first started reading it. I’m not really sure how I missed that little tidbit, but I don’t feel like I really missed out on anything plot-wise by skipping straight to the end of the series.

This book is a light and quick read. It’s definitely not the most historically accurate as far as language and general human interactions go, but I did not mind at all. I actually enjoyed that the women in the story had more autonomy than would have been allowed otherwise. The premise of lovers who became estranged and then could possibly become lovers again really drew me in. I’m usually more of an enemies to lovers kind of person, but second chance romance has a special place in my heart. I definitely laughed out loud at multiple points of the book, the banter was just that good. The longing between the two main characters was palpable and made the ending worth waiting for. While the arguments between the couple did feel repetitive at times and the stakes were fairly low, the characters themselves were so likable that I could get past it. I do wish the ruse itself had been more central to the plot and a little more fleshed out, but I was really rooting for the couple and their happiness. If you’re looking for a lighthearted and more modern take on a Bridgerton-esque story, then definitely give this series (or at least this book) a try. I give it 4 stars overall and one 🌶️ when it comes to spice.

If you’re a stickler for historical accuracy and dislike modern takes on older tropes, this is not for you.

very solid 4.5⭐️ this was my favorite of the entire Regency Vows series!! i'm a sucker for a second chance romance so i was hooked on this one before i even started reading it. the chemistry between West and Sophie is wonderful and having a supporting cast that we’ve spent four prior books getting to know helped make the world feel real and fleshed out. i’m actually bummed that this is the last we’ll see of our regency vows crew!

To woo and to wed was an OK book. I had to force myself through this one. The flow of the story was hard to follow sometimes with the time jump and it would take a few to realize what happened.

Second chance romance is not a favorite trope of mine, but I had been curious about this series. I still want to read through the other 3 but I didn't finish the first one so I don't have high hopes. I do like other historical romance books.

I ended up not finishing it at 46 percent.

To Woo and to Wed by Martha Waters is the perfect ending to a spectacular series! I have enjoyed each and every book in the Regency Vows series and this final installment did not disappoint. The humor was onpoint and the banter was swoonworthy! Sad to see the series end.

Quick and Dirty⁣
-Regency Romance⁣
-the final installment of the Regency Vows series⁣
-open door, 🌶🌶🌶/5⁣
-second chance romance ⁣

What Worked⁣
Ah, this series has had my heart since day one! I fell hard for the cast of characters, Waters’ writing style, and the zany⁣
antics that make these books so much fun! And this book is no exception! The final book of the series features the two dark horses, Sophie and West, that most of us have been wondering about, eager to see them reunited. And the situation they find themselves in (a fake engagement) is a new plot device for Waters and a super fun one at that! And because the characters were once nearly engaged there’s immediately a tension of will they/won’t they fall back in love! All the while, their friends are ⁣the glue that holds everything together, adding to the hilarity of it all!

What Didn’t Work⁣
Not much! At this point, I knew what to expect from Waters, so I fully expected the miscommunication tropes and other plot devices she uses to ratchet up the tension and heartache needed to achieve a satisfying resolution. I will say this book has a little more spice than some of the others, but, again, I’ve grown used to her open-door scenes. They are still tasteful, with mostly period-appropriate descriptions/dialogue and minimal smut. But that still may be a turn-off for some. ⁣

Read This If⁣
Anyone who loves falling hard for a cast of friends who love and support each other will enjoy this fun, warmhearted series!
