Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for the chance to listen to this book! I am guilty of jumping into requests in large groups on here, and then getting a bulk approval and losing track of everything. This was definitely what happened here. HOWEVER, I really enjoyed this book! I like the second chance story, the endless string of bad luck, and likeable characters. I would read this again and recommend it to friends.

I loved the writing style. The narrators were great. I loved the banter and second chance premise between the two MCs but I could have done without the added girlfriend almost fiancé. It gave too much emotional cheating for me to really enjoy it. If the girlfriend was not there it would have been 5 stars.

Katherine, an ambitious NYC attorney, gets diagnosed with a concussion and must be monitored for 48 hours to make sure it doesn't get worse. Unfortunately, she forgot to update her emergency contact so the person they call is her ex-husband, Tom. Unable to be left alone, Katherine reluctantly agrees to travel to Chicago with Tom for the holidays. But thanks to a blizzard, what should have been a quick plane ride turns into an antagonistic overnight misadventure that stirs up old feelings even as Tom prepares to propose to his girlfriend on Christmas Eve.

This was so cute! Thank you NetGalley & The Publisher for a copy!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the advanced audio arc! This was such a sweet read! It reminded me of an updated version of the movie Planes, Trains, and Automobiles! Except instead of two strangers, you have two ex's 🤣

I received this as an audio arc, and half way through realized it had been out for over six months. I have heard zero buzz on this one and ,man, was it great!

Katherine is an ambitious NYC attorney that hates Christmas. Her dad and only family died on Christmas. Her heart turned to stone. She focuses on partner track at her law firm.

Her cab gets in a horrible accident and her firm call her ex husband—Katherine never got around to updating her emergency contact. Tom was tired of playing second fiddle to her career. He is planning to propose to his girlfriend on Christmas Eve. He is going to get his life back on track.

Katherine has a large wound and a concussion. She can’t be left alone for 48 hrs. So, he decides to bring her to Chicago where the girlfriend is meeting the future in laws solo because he came to the rescue of his ex.

Que the absurd mix of planes, buses, trains and blizzards as these two banter their way toward the heartland.

This was so fun. 🤩 Thank you NetGalley for the audio arc!

I LOVE this book so much!! It's so funny. The fact that is it written by a husband and wife duo makes it even better. It was so real.
Katherine is not an easy person to get along with but it's her protection. Tom her ex-husband is a saint. Lol/ The sarcasm, banter and bickering made me laugh so many times.
A perfect read!

Thank you for the opportunity to listen to this arc.

Fun holiday romp with the requisite happy ending!

I listened to the audiobook version of "Emergency Contact" and found it to be a captivating and engaging story. The narrators did a fantastic job of bringing the characters to life, making it easy to become invested in their journey.

The story itself is both heartwarming and relatable, exploring themes of love, sacrifice, and self-discovery. I found myself eagerly listening to each chapter, eager to find out what would happen next. The dynamic between the two main characters was both endearing and complex, making their love-hate relationship feel genuine and heartfelt.

Overall, "Emergency Contact" is a compelling novel that I would highly recommend to fans of contemporary romantic fiction. The audiobook format only enhanced the experience, making it a truly enjoyable listening experience.

A wonderful rom-com to set the mood for the holiday season. An overworked New York City attorney, Katherine, has an accident and is rushed to the hospital where she is diagnosed with a concussion. The hospital reaches out to her emergency contact, who happens to be her ex-husband, Tom. The hospital will not release Katherine unless someone will agree to monitor her for forty eight hours, so she, reluctantly, agrees to travel with Tom back to his hometown of Chicago. But a quick three hour plane ride turns into a crazy trip full of planes, trains, and automobiles. Through all the misadventure, Katherine and Tom get a chance to reconnect and revisit where their marriage went wrong.

Thank you Blackstone Publishing for providing this audiobook for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own

Katherine is a strong female character that has a lot of layers to her. When she finds herself waking up in a hospital after an accident, she wasn’t thrilled to see her ex husband coming to her rescue. They go on quite the adventure to try to make it to Tom’s parents house so he can propose to his girlfriend on Christmas Eve. But is that what he truly wants? Great banter and hilarious moments as everything that could go wrong - goes very wrong! Save this one for the holiday season! Perfect read for someone who isn’t big on holiday books, but wants just a hint of the Christmas season.

Sometimes you just have to let a story transport you into a whole new world and feel all the feels and not critique little things…that is exactly what I did with this rom-com wonderfully written by a wife and husband duo. The planes, trains and automobiles Christmastime second-chance romance between Katherine and Tom was just too sweet, charismatic and chaotic I could not help but smile and laugh. The banter between the two was perfection for the predicaments that they got into. Five stars to the narrators (Brianna Cohen & Tim Paige) of this audiobook-they did a fantastic job!
And what’s not to love about the cover?! It features some of the different modes of transportation and is complete lovey-dovey color scheme.

This was adorable. I don’t know how exactly to explain this it was just perfect. I couldn’t put it down. I liked both the characters, the pacing, the antics, the banter, and the side characters. Just an extremely fun time.

This was a really fun one to listen to and just in time for the Christmas season! I loved the banter between the FMC and MMC. The authors did a great job creating both the main characters to compliment each other’s personalities. I loved the plane, trains and automobile vibes this story gave. It made this book an adventure full of funny mishaps that I could totally see happening to myself. I also really enjoyed the second chance romance trope within this storyline. Through all the silliness there was an emotional side to the story that I really enjoyed. The narrators also did a great job bringing this story to life! I would definitely recommend ti anyone trying to squeeze in one more book before the new year!

Emergency Contact by Lauren Layne & Anthony LeDonne is the story of Katherine a NY City attorney on the brink of being asked to be partner in her firm. The only standing in her way is, the pesky Holiday Season and a concussion she gets from being in a car accident. If things weren’t bad enough, the accident happens in front of her office and HR calls her Emergency Contact; her ex-husband Tom. Tom is on his way out of the city and he can’t wait to start celebrating the holidays. He is heading to his home town and he is ready to propose to his new girlfriend. The only thing standing in this way is getting a call about his ex. At a crossroads Tom realizes he can’t leave Katherine alone, in her condition. So in an attempt to get him home, on time celebrate for Christmas, Tom decides to bring Katherine home with him. What should be a quick flight and a few days of rest, becomes a nightmare road real that tests Katherine and Tom’s very beings. Can they make it to Chicago in one piece? Can they even be friends, at the end of this? Or can they at least find peace and joy during this time of the year? You will have to listen to it to see but you won’t be disappointed. The characters have a way to go to make amends but there is always hope. They are very cute together and their personalities really do show.. and their friendship is undeniable.. even if they can’t see it at first. I want to thank Netgalley & the authors & Blackstone Publishing Audiobooks for my copy for an honest review. It was my pleasure to listen and review this book. Brianna Cohen and Tim Page did an excellent job narrating this story. They made the story that much better. I love a good Holiday Rom Com. I hope you enjoy it too..

Emergency Contact by Lauren Layne and Anthony LeDonne is a quick, cute read. It has a little love triangle, and some quirky wit.
When Catherine suffers a concussion the hospital calls her emergency contact her ex-husband Tom. What unfolds is a trip with one problem after the next and some love along with a little stress.

I LOVED THIS SO MUCH.

Think the movie Leap Year but during Christmas time. This was so much fun and I love how giddy it made me.

I read The Prenup a few years ago and remember LOVING it so it's no surprise I absolutely ate this up.

Lauren Layne knows the way to my humor heart. I love how she writes comedy. It just lands so well.

Was this super cheesy and predictable? 1000% yes. But was it everything I wanted and more? 1000% yes.

We meet Katherine, an ambitious New York attorney, who just wants to make her late father proud by succeeding in earning the title of partner in a law firm. Because of this goal, her marriage took a turn and ended.

Then there's Tom. Her incredibly sweet and superhero of a man ex husband. Four years after their marriage, he's ready to propose to someone else. Except plans change when Katherine gets into an accident and he gets the call.

When I tell you I absolutely loved the plot of this, I loved the plot of this. Travel together for the holidays in order to make it in time for the traditional Christmas Eve proposal? Yes, please...I'll take it. So cheesy, so good.

Apart, you can see how different these two are. Together, you can just see how much they still love each other. Their banter was PERFECTION. Their cruel jokes and insults and digs were absolutely hilarious and every one of them landed perfectly. I laughed a lot.

I loved their sarcasm and I loved how after saying something truly hurtful, they always thought to apologize and just be real and vulnerable with each other.

I just love how this story had one problem after another and how as much as they wanted to give up on each other, the chose not to; they chose to stay together and help each other out no matter what.

I just loved watching their relationship begin to heal and grow again. It was beautiful. It was playful and it was exciting.

Every time Katherine mentioned her father, I choked up. Their relationship was so beautiful and how she speaks about him just had me in my feels.

Tom's family is actually hilarious for the fact that they still kept in touch with Katherine and when they see her for the first time, they all completely could care less about Tom's girlfriend.

The ending. Was it predicable? Of course. But it was just so cute and I'm not gonna lie, I got a little teary eyed. I just love how these two are together.

Would this have had me in the true holiday feels even more if I listened to it during Christmas time? Yeah...but it still had the same effect on me as I think it would of in December.

This was just an adorable little rom com and ugh, it made me so happy! I genuinely couldn't stop listening to it.

Thank you so much to NetGalley for a copy of this audiobook!

Even though this novel is set at Christmas, Emergency Contact can (and should) be read all year round. I want to be friends with Katherine and Tom, the novel’s protagonists, and was sad to say goodbye to them when I finished this title. Add this title to your shelf if you like stories of misadventure or second-chance romances.

I thought this was so fun! I’m normally not a fan of the love triangle trope, but I found myself rooting for Katherine and Tom to get back together. I couldn’t put it down! I highly recommend the audiobook.

I listened to the audiobook, thank you NetGalley and Blackstone publishing! Super fun and quick book to listen to.

Overall a cute, Christmas love story. Tom does happen to be in a relationship with someone else and planning to propose on Christmas Eve which is a tradition in his family. But he hadn't proposed on Christmas Eve to his ex wife Katherine. But also ick -- Men, do better than proposing on Christmas. But anyway.. just my personal opinion there!

It was fun, cute, funny, but also pretty obvious what was going to happen. :)

Definitely a fun Christmas/winter time read! :)

Thank you to NetGalley and Blackstone Publishing!
